==Afterword== For instance. Spring weather. Yumi and Sachiko are lying around on the roof of the school in their school uniforms. Isn’t it nice having a long lunch break? This time they may have been doing it since noon. Clouds are floating in the clear sky. Staring blankly at it, Sachiko-sama murmured, “Peaceful, isn’t it”. Yumi sneezed while looking at a contrail. So, it was about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the sun was starting to fade, and they decided to go downstairs. They stood up, brushed the dust off their skirts, and exchanged a few words. Today was an uneventful day. —— a story like that. Didn’t you imagine that? Upon learning the title “Maria-sama ga Miteru: Nothing Special, Just a Normal Day”. Hello, it’s Konno. But that wouldn’t work. First of all, if there is nothing, the pages would not be filled. If it was 20 pages, I may have been able to make it work somehow, but it would be impossible to make it into a paperback volume. Maybe it’s possible if there are some other topics in between? You can try the challenge if you feel like it, but you probably wouldn’t want to do it on the rooftop. Because. What about the afternoon classes? If the two students, who always take classes seriously, do not show up to class, their homeroom teacher and classmates would go looking for them. And so, while the two were relaxing, something important would have happened, and as soon as they were discovered, the day would be turned into a special day. Okay, let’s say it’s saturday afternoon. If that’s the case, I think they would probably close the door to the rooftop sooner. It would be nice if the teacher, guard or a student who came to lock the door was lucky enough to find them, but what if they didn’t realize they were there and locked the door? “Open the door-, open the door” don-don-don-don. Or, keep waving their hands from the rooftop, screaming, “help us!”. Eh, Sachiko-sama? No way. By the way, it’s impossible to call for help using a cell phone. They are not allowed to bring it to school. However. It would be really embarassing if someone came to lock the door and found out, wouldn’t it. After all, they’re seours, right? The person who found them would also be surprised. So this isn’t “nothing special, just a normal day” at all. Even if you finish your nap time peacefully without any incident. Surely you are both sunburned, aren’t you? So, “nothing special, but it’s a stinging day”? Now, about the story. Sorry for keeping you waiting, it’s finally the school festival. They became seour one year ago. It’s an anniversary. It’s the anniversary. It’s a memory. But then, why does the title say “nothing special”? Because the author is a demon. Oh, joking, joking. I really am a demon, but I chose the title honestly. However, it’s finally over. The previous work, “Ciao Sorella!” was the 17-th volume (Premium Book was a special feature, so it was not included in this count). At first I was counting one book per month, so I had a vague idea that if the story progressed for a full year, I would end up with about 12 books, but I ended up writing quite a lot. There were first and second parts, some extra editions, so I guess the result is something like this. The story is one year old, but the first volume was published in 1998, so it’s already been six years. Even readers who were younger than Yumi may have long since passed Youko’s age. It’s something amazing. Of course, if you started reading recently, you probably wouldn’t feel this way. One year’s worth is about six years. On the other hand, you can make a hundred years pass with just one line. Novels (as well as manga, dramas, and movies) are interesting. Now, let me talk a little about the main story. Because it’s the school festival, there is a sense of messiness. Even if it doesn’t come up in conversation, don’t you feel like there is a lot going on behind the scenes? For example, I wonder if this person or that person came to the festival. Just thinking about it gives me the feeling that I could write a few short stories. If the opportunity arises, I might announce it somewhere, or someone might tell me, “this is what happened”. …… But I might completely forget about it. The other day, while I was washing my hair in the bath, I had a sudden idea: “That’s right, I’ll write this in the afterword,” but by the time I left the dressing room, I had completely forgotten about it, and I still haven’t remembered it. Even if I remember the “Let’s write this in the afterword” part, it is of no use. But I can’t really take notes while I’m washing my hair. Right?
