I couldn't believe Kirari had shown up! When the commotion started in the crowd behind me, I thought there was an emergency of some sort. I made way, like people around me were telling everyone to do. Then I saw her walk by with calm determination. I guess you could consider this an emergency, but not of the physical kind.

An extra chair was lifted into the barricaded off area around the poker table by staff. Kirari sat in it with legs crossed and a satisfied look on her face. She was like an empress, watching a gladiator match in the Colosseum. I heard she liked to see the struggles of he common folk, so I bet she was enjoying herself.

Sayaka was shuffling the deck. She did it a bit clumsy, but very thoroughly and alternated shuffling techniques. ''"I'm not very practiced, but I guarantee I'll do this right"'', her movements seemed to say.
<br><br>
Yumeko hadn't said anything since Kirari made her entrée. She was observing in silence, but I caught a brief smile on her face when Kifune was removed as dealer. Had Yumeko planned this somehow? She made it clear to Mitarai she was not enjoying this round while she was obviously having a blast playing with Ace in the previous one.
<br><br>
Was Yumeko thinking that Kifune was rigging the game? That would surely be a reason for her to dislike it. I didn't notice anything strange, but Yumeko apparently did. She alone would have stood no chance of exposing Kifune so that's probably why she called in Kirari.
<br><br>
It would have been senseless to rig the tournament to only prevent a particular person from winning. That meant that if there was cheating, it was to make a specific person win.

''"Ah, there you are! This place is packed!"'', Mary said while squeezing herself through the crowd. ''"It was exhausting, but I did my job. That Mitarai girl really looks like a star player, doesn't she?"''

''"'Job', you say?! Saotome, you brought the council president here, didn't you?"'', I said loudly. ''"And here I was thinking you weren't interesting in this match at all! You're amazing! How this you pull it off though?! Did you just call her up or something?! Oww..."''
<br><br>
Mary kicked my leg and slapped a hand on my mouth. ''"Shut up, before you start some weird rumor, you numskull. I had absolutely nothing to do with Momobami showing up. I'm as surprised as everybody else is about that"'', she hissed into my ear.
<br><br>
''"I was in the hall with the screens most of the time. When the final round started I made my way here and only found you just now"'', Mary continued.
<br><br>
''"Then what was this job you were talking about?"'', I whispered back.
<br><br>
''"I'll explain later. I thought I understood everything, but now that Momobami is here, I have no idea how things will play out. We'll have to just watch it unfold"'', Mary answered while brushing her tails aide and looking at the table.
