===Part 8===
Five days had passed after Takeshi traveled with Mui to the magical academy and during that time no mishap had occurred. The Ghost Trailers that were expected to appear immediately upon his return had not been seen again. From that point on, Takeshi had resumed his dreary summer vacation.

In the morning, he had traveled to school together with Kurumi as he did daily. In the afternoon after training, he had agreed with her to do the summer chores together at the Isohima Residence. The bell rang at the end of the day and when Takeshi heard it, he left the Dojo and headed towards the club room to change his clothes. However, as he was on his way, he ran into a classmate of his who was already on his way out and exclaimed:

"Howdy Ida! Did you have supplementary classes today too?"

Hearing the voice calling out to her, Ida, who was already on her way out, stopped and turned to look.

"What? Nanase!"

As usual, her striking blonde hair shone brightly in the sun and seeing Takeshi approaching wearing the Kendo uniform, she flashed a bitter smile.

"This hot day is awesome for working out," said Takeshi quickly.

"It would be better to say that it's tedious to come to school on such a hot day, don't you think?" Ida replied.

"You may be right."

Ida laughed as Takeshi expressed a smile. Ida had a tendency to be misunderstood in everything, but when he laughed he looked like just an elementary school brat. So unlike Takeshi who often pretended to smile at others, he was sincere with his feelings. He didn't care what others thought of him and in that respect Takeshi envied Ida.

At the same time he was surprised to see Ida's willpower as he could be himself wherever he wanted. Suddenly he remembered Mui. She also seemed to be as strong-willed as Ida. For a few days, Takeshi had been having mixed feelings as he thought about how hard it had been for Mui to search for her older brother and try to get him back. As he found himself thinking about her, Ida asked:

"What's the matter with you? You seem to have changed your mood..."

Takeshi, who had been carried away by his thoughts, looked at Ida and blinked repeatedly.

"Huh? What's wrong? What mood?"

"I don't know what you were thinking about, but you had a serious expression."

Takeshi touched his face instinctively.

"Really?"

"Yes, is something wrong?"

"No, not at all."

Takeshi looked away suspiciously.

"Well, it's all right. At least it's more decent than your usual tragic face."

Ida raised a hand and waved goodbye and then hurried off to the exit gate. Takeshi on the other hand stood there in the scorching heat with his hands over his face. He wondered if maybe he had changed after becoming a wizard.

He didn't feel that way. However, he had been told the same thing at the dojo. One of the members mentioned that his attacks were now firmer and that his expression was sharper than a few days ago. Ida's words had confirmed that, so Takeshi slapped his cheeks to cheer himself up and continued on his way to the club room.
