(Just a general question to anybody who knows/can decide: Is the continuous present tense an actual facet of the writing, or is it just something unique to the Japanese language? For example, should the tenses all be left as they are, or would changing them all to past-tense(ie it was rather than it is) be acceptable?

If it's acceptable, could someone just leave the answer up for a while? Like a couple days or so? If it's not, just don't bother answering, just leave this bit as it is or delete it.

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for the time.)
