My neck hurts, and I've gotten to where I cannot look down.  It hurts from the back of my head down my neck, between my shoulder blades, my back and in a straight line down to my hips.  Having gone stiff and straight, I cannot move.  I've completely lost my flexibility.

My stiff shoulders and lower back pain are due to sedentary work, it's something that always happens, but all things considered, today it's really bad.  I woke up early in the morning with a sore neck, the pain coming back to strike, and I fainted in agony.  My half-awake brain shouted at me 'I think this is dangerous!'  It isn't time to get up yet, but having become unable to sleep, I find myself sitting in a chair.  Still stiff and straight, writing this postscript, I am waiting for the massage shop owner to open his place.

I haven't been able to do anything summer-like yet, though the season hasn't changed.  My work has been so hectic, and in any case this year has been too hot, that my ambition to do anything during the daytime has been lost.  I haven't tanned, heatstroke scares me, when I go outside it's already dark, my bed's a coffin, I am called "Count" by my servant, I'm immortal... It's practically the life of Dracula.  Sorry, that second half was a lie: I am getting older like you wouldn't believe.  But I can't travel, go to the ocean nor even the pool, and I really am confined indoors in the dark.

Which reminds me, once, I was thinking "I can't do anything in summer, shouldn't sweep the terrace?"  I would have the chance if it rained.  Rinsing off our dusty terraces with water is normally forbidden in our apartment building.  Of course, making noise is prohibited too.  Obediently, I can only sweep it with a broom.  For that reason, the instant it started raining, I jumped out there with a deck-brush.  I attacked the rain-wetted terrace, scrubbing it down like crazy.  Fallen paints!  Fallen bird droppings!  Traces of flower-pots!  If only for now, an unswept terrace shouldn't trouble me!  Neither should I be bored!  ...In the roaring thunder, in the middle of the rain, the wind gusting like crazy, I naturally wound up soaking wet from head to toe.  But, I felt myself lucky.  I said to myself, "Objectively, this body isn't afraid of much."  If you were watching from the beginning, not noticing the deck brush, just me in the middle of the rain, a dangerous woman making a racket by herself...?  The wind and rain not weakening, I swept more and more madly, in a heartbeat going back and forth between (shouldn't be noticed!) and (noticed!).  ...Such are the precious memories of this summer.

Well then, you have accepted into your hands the seventh volume of "Golden Time".  That you have stayed with us up to now and this time, truly, thank you very much!  With the strength you have lent me, I have managed to build it up to where it is now.  Formally, from my heart, I am giving you my thanks.  If you have enjoyed it even a little, we are blessed above all!  The anime will be starting in October.  Given that there's a manga version too, please enjoy "Golden Time" by getting both, would you please?  And finally, Komatsu Eeji-sensei, and manager Yuasa-sama, please continue to work with me.
