The house which was torn up by a tornado, happened to land on the Wicked Witch of the East. Dorothy followed the yellow brick road towards the Emerald City.

She wanted to ask the Wizard of the Emerald City, Oz, to send her back to her home in Kansas.

Dorothy met several strange people along the road.

"Can the Wizard of Oz give me some brains?" asked the Scarecrow who lacked intelligence.

"Can the Wizard of Oz give me a heart?" asked the Tinman without a a heart.

"Can the Wizard of Oz give me some courage?" asked the timid Lion with tears in his eyes.
