+ | She was surrounded on all four sides by walls, neither seeing the light of the sun nor feeling the wind on her skin. She thought... that she'd rather be out somewhere more open than in a place like this. For instance, the path leading from the courtyard to the Cathedral would've been nice. She liked how the sunlight had filtered through the leaves there. Or maybe the little hill overlooking the town would've been good; whenever a gentle breeze blew over it, the grass on top would sway like waves. |

− | It was not clear since it was quite dark, but there were rows of rectangular equipment. There were red and green lights like the colors of a candy on them. |
+ | ──Hey, are you listening to me? Celica A. Mercury! |
− | There wasn't any sunlight or breeze. The room was enclosed by walls on all sides. Within such a room, it felt like... someplace less cramped would be preferred. |
+ | The voice called out to her. It called her name. Like an electric shock running through her, all the feeling came back to her body in a flash. Blood flowed all the way to her toes, and body heat returned all the way to her fingertips. |

− | ''———Hey, Celica A. Mercury! Can you hear me?'' |
+ | "Um... huh? Do you, mean me?" |
− | A voice was calling out. A name was mentioned. On that moment, it felt like some electric current was going back and forth on her whole body. |
+ | She was confused by the sudden influx of colors, feelings, and smells. She had been floating inside of some strange device this whole time, looking like she was standing on her tip-toes, but now gravity suddenly took hold. Celica plopped down onto a circular metal plate, leaning forward. |
− | It caused her blood to circulate and body heat to rise all over the body, all the way to the end of her feet and fingers. |
+ | Where was she? |
− | Her consciousness was awakened. It was like emerging to surface from underwater in one breath. Her... Celica's eyes were blinking. |
+ | She couldn't grasp what she was doing right now, and her mind was finally starting to ask questions. The bare skin of her legs extending out of her skirt felt the cold metal beneath her. |
− | "Wh... huh? Umm, me?" |
+ | (Just a moment ago, I... I was in some sort of empty, pure white place...) |
− | Colors, warmth, and smells became visible to her at once. A confused voice was heard. |
+ | Indeed, her memory wasn't failing her: she remembered how, until moments before, she had been in a mysterious world of whiteness. She had thought that she was looking at a reflection in a mirror, but then her reflection returned to reality without her somehow, leaving her alone. The next thing she knew, she was in this room she'd never seen before. |
− | Simultaneously, her body, which was floating within a strange device with a posture similar to standing on tiptoes for all this time, was struck by gravity. Unable to stand up, Celica sat on a circular metal plate. |
+ | She had thought that she had gotten quite used to handling the unexpected, but this situation she had suddenly found herself in was throwing her for a loop. She didn't even think to get up as someone walked from the corner of the room to stand before her. |
− | Where is this? |
+ | Reflexively lifting her head, she looked up at the person standing in front of her. |
− | She was unable to grasp the situation around her. Bit by bit, questions were surfacing. From the skirt, her bare legs felt the cold surface of the metal plate. |
+ | At first glance, she was a dainty girl, but there was no innocence or sweetness in her eyes. Her expression was well-guarded and dispassionate. She had an unmistakably adult aura, and Celica got the feeling that this girl was much older than her. |
− | (I... Before... I was in an empty, pure white space...) |
+ | Her white outfit looked well-worn on her slender body, and she had distinct bags under her eyes. She looked like a burnt-out researcher, and the faces of Celica's scientist father and her zealous researcher sister came to her mind. |
− | Yes, her memory was not damaged. She recalled that she was certainly in a mysterious white world a little while ago. |
+ | "Celica A. Mercury, right?" |
− | Then, what she had thought akin to image reflected on mirror somehow became real. And, she was left all alone in that reality. |
+ | As Celica listened to this voice that she had heard again and again deep within her mind, she noticed something long and thin swaying behind the woman's back. It was a tail. |
− | Now, she noticed that she had never seen that room before. |
+ | It was cat-like, split into two partway down, and was white at the tips. This time, Celica thought of Jubei. Now that she looked a little closer, she saw little triangular pink ears peeking out of her tied-up hair of the same color. The way they were slightly bent forward was very cute. |
− | She had experienced many unexpected incidents, but her mind still couldn't follow this sudden circumstances. |
− | |||
− | Even getting up didn't cross her mind. In the meantime, a human figure walked toward a corner of the room where Celica was located. |
− | |||
− | Reflexively, Celica raised her face. She was looking at the person before her eyes. |
− | |||
− | The person looked like a petite girl at one glance. |
− | |||
− | However, that human figure wasn't just a plain girl. The glint on her eyes didn't look innocent or adorable. Her observant face expressed disinterest. The atmosphere surrounding her was somehow similar to a grown-up's. She felt much older than even Celica. |
− | |||
− | The white gown she wore felt natural on her slender body. Under the golden eyes, there were distinct dark circles. Her appearance looked somewhat like an exhausted researcher. Celica identified the girl's appearance with her scientist father and research-loving sister. |
− | |||
− | "Celica A. Mercury, right?" |
− | |||
− | She was the owner of the voice which frequently addressed Celica from within her mind. Behind the girl's back, something long and narrow was swaying around. It was a tail. |
− | |||
− | It branched to two parts on the middle. The tips were colored white, different than the rest. It was similar to a cat's tail and made Celica thinking about Jubei at that time. |
− | |||
− | When she looked closer, within the bundled up pink hair, there were triangular ears of the same color peeked out. The fact that her ears were slightly crooked forward made them really cute. |
− | |||
− | Nine would definitely be in great joy if she ever saw the girl. After she thought about all that, Celica began to open her mouth as she plainly nodded to the girl's question. |
+ | If Nine were here, she would have loved them. Unconsciously letting her mouth open a little as she thought that, Celica gave a firm nod to answer her question. |

...It was like she was sinking, or maybe floating.
Like she was falling, or maybe soaring.
As she felt like she was being embraced in someone's soft arms... she heard a voice.
──Can you hear me?
A strict, powerful... and gentle voice.
It drew her attention, and she opened her weightless eyelids. She saw a faint light, then she was inside a room she had no memory of ever being in.
It was too dim for her to see clearly, but she thought that she could make out a line of some sort of rectangular devices and some red and green lamps shedding candy-colored light.
She was surrounded on all four sides by walls, neither seeing the light of the sun nor feeling the wind on her skin.
──Hey, are you listening to me? Celica A. Mercury!
The voice called out to her. It called her name. Like an electric shock running through her, all the feeling came back to her body in a flash. Blood flowed all the way to her toes, and body heat returned all the way to her fingertips.
Her consciousness returned like she had suddenly leapt up through the surface of water, and she── no, and Celica blinked several times in surprise.
"Um... huh? Do you, mean me?"
She was confused by the sudden influx of colors, feelings, and smells. She had been floating inside of some strange device this whole time, looking like she was standing on her tip-toes, but now gravity suddenly took hold. Celica plopped down onto a circular metal plate, leaning forward.
Where was she?
She couldn't grasp what she was doing right now, and her mind was finally starting to ask questions. The bare skin of her legs extending out of her skirt felt the cold metal beneath her.
(Just a moment ago, I... I was in some sort of empty, pure white place...)
Indeed, her memory wasn't failing her: she remembered how, until moments before, she had been in a mysterious world of whiteness. She had thought that she was looking at a reflection in a mirror, but then her reflection returned to reality without her somehow, leaving her alone.
