"Hey you got a bug on your neck Ubica." said Daey.

Ubica raises his eyebrow and slaps his neck. "Did I get it?"

He looks in the palm of his hand to see if he did but nothing is there.

"No its still there, let me do it for you."

She slaps his neck hard causing him to jump back and yell, "Owww!!! That was a little rough don't you think!?"

Daey waves her hands in a nonchalant way while she says, "Sorry sorry."

She then leans her head close to him and finds that it was not a bug after all.

"Huh? What is that?"

Looking closely it actually seems like a small black tattoo in the form a fly.

"What is what?" Ubica asks.

She gets even closer and pokes at it. "When did you get a tattoo?"

"I don't have a tattoo."

"Well there is one right here and it looks like a fly."

He backs away and looks really surprised, he thinks about it for a second and realizes that this mark came from Beelzebub back when they were at the tundra village. He understands that the only reason a marking like this coming from a man like him would either mean he has been cursed or injected with a poison. The problem is that he doesn't know which one it is, and he doesn't know what it does; in order to find out he'll have to ask Beelzebub himself or perhaps Rage might know something about it, but neither of them are anywhere near him.

In order to not look panicky he smiles at Daey and says "Oh yeah... I got this a little while back."

However, his carefree words are contrary to what he actually feels, he is really nervous about this because he knows Beelzebub all too well. He is positive that there is always an ulterior motive behind the majority of things Beelzebub does.

"It was from that fly guy right?" asks Daey. She remembers that day perfectly so she assumes that it was him who sent the bug that bit Ubica causing him to lose his strength.

"It seems that way..."

"What do you think it means?"

Ubica rubs is neck and replies, "No clue... "

Daey can see that he is a little distraught about this so she tries to lighten his spirits by grabbing his hand. With a smile she says, "Well you're alive now and you aren't sick, so we'll worry about that later. For now let's just get some lunch!"

He chuckles a little and replies, "Sounds like a plan to me."

The two are walking down a long line of street vendors in the center of the town, they are trying to decide which food stand they want to stop at for lunch. It is the seventh and last day of the festival so they are getting ready to leave the town and head north toward the Gate. A lot of things happened since the the time they got here, but the week long stay was basically spent working and enjoying the festivities when they had time off. Knowing that this pleasant time is now coming to an end leaves a bittersweet feeling because they have all seemed to bond even closer than before.

After a few minutes, Ubica and Daey end up sitting at a food stand that serves fried meat buns.

"Wow this is delicious!" says Daey as she takes her first bite.

She has never eaten something like this before, it is made with local meat and vegetables that are wrapped with salted dough and then deep fried until crispy and brown. Back in Eiyalazo, this kind of food was considered primitive and barbaric by the royals; they only eat the most premium of foods and wear the most expensive of clothes because they feel that out of all the kingdoms of the world, they exude the most class. This stuffy lifestyle of hers never allowed her to enjoy such things as eating meat buns from a sketchy food stand around hundreds of drunken blowhards in middle of the day.

Ubica is wearing a smile as he watches her eat with such an exited look on her face. She spots him looking at her and becomes flustered, she's blushing when she asks, "Is there something on my face?"

"Actually there is." he answers. He leans over the small two person table and takes a peace of the bun off of her face with his finger and puts it in his mouth.

This causes Daey to become even more flushed, she scrambles for words until she notices that hardly a bite has been taken out of his bun.

"Hey Ubica, you haven't eaten much... Is something wrong?"

He leans back in his seat and says, "Nope I'm fine, I just don't eat much."

"Well you should start eating more... It isn't healthy you know."

Ubica chuckles a little. "Yeah yeah, but I find it a lot more satisfying just watching you."

Daey drops her bun and hides her face in embarrassment; one of Ubica's problems is that he says these kind of things so easily, it's amazing that none of them have thrown a pan at his face.

"Hey why'd you stop eating?"

"How in the world do expect me to eat after you say something like that!?"

"Huh? Like what?"

"Damn it all Ubica! Why do you have to be so dense!?"

Before Ubica can say his retort and continue their argument, he feels a slight tug on his left sleeve, he looks over and sees a little boy who is looking at him with eyes full of youthful ambition.

He is a plain boy with brown hair and brown eyes, he looks to be around ten or eleven and is wearing rather tattered clothes. Though it may seem like he is a poor kid, it's more than likely that he is the assistant of a merchant that owns a shop. It is quite common for a shop owning merchant to hire young children because they can pay them less and the chances are they will not complain about doing grunt work like an adult would.

"Uh... Can I help you?" Ubica asks.

The boy scruffs his nose and replies with a question of his own, "You are the one that won the dance competition right?"

"Y-Yeah..."

The boy sighs in relief and smiles, he stretches his arms and says, "Thank goodness, I've been trying to find you and that girl all week." The kid then looks at Daey and raises his eyebrow. "Though... That doesn't look like the girl who was dancing with you."

"Geh... She isn't the girl.." Ubica replies, a cold sweat runs down his temple when he feels that something bad is about to happen.

The boy laughs really loud and pats Ubica's back quite hard. "Buahahah, amazing! I've never met a real player before."

"Player?"

"You know, those guys who always have more than one girlfriend."

They both jolt back in their seats, Ubica is becoming nervous because he can sense Daey's anger.

The boy scans Daey from head to toe with his eyes and says, "And this girl is just as cute as the other one too! But this one's boobs are a lot smaller."

Ubica screams in shock, he honestly thinks that both him and the kid are about to be killed; he slowly turns his head and sees Daey with the dark aura of death surrounding her.

A vein can be seen in her forehead as she steps off of her high chair and down to the boys level. "Are you saying that I have a flat chest??" she says with an evil voice.

The boy looks at her and is completely unworried. "Well you do don't you?"

The horror on Ubica's face can not be described by words, he jumps off his chair and grabs her with all of his might. "Listen kid, if you want to live you should hurry up and tell me what you want or I recommend you leave now!!"

"Okay then, I'll cut to the chase, I need you to help me find the God of Harvest!"

Daey stops struggling in confusion and both her and Ubica tilt their heads and say, "Huh?"

"She shows up somewhere in town on the last the last day of the festival each year. You won that contest because you pleased the God of Harvest the most... Since she knows who you are it might be easier to find her." the boy says as he shuffles his feet.

Ubica and Daey look at each other and then back at him.

"Why should we help out a shitty brat like you?" Daey asks bitterly as she huffs air out of her nose.

"Because I'll pay you." He bluntly replies, this catches their attention and he knows it. "Well it won't be me who pays you, it'll be my boss."

Ubica is intrigued but he is also not interested in dealing with deities unless he absolutely has to. "Sorry kid, but we're leaving soon so we won't have time."

"You mean all seven of you?" the boy asks.

Daey frowns and is increasingly getting more and more annoyed by his presence. "Are you some kind of stalker or something!?"

He shrugs his little shoulders and replies, "If that is what I'm paid to be then that is what I am, besides, you guys stick out like a sore thumb. Anyways that's not the point, my boss said that he will give you two horse drawn carts if you find the God of Harvest before sun down."

This offer is one that can't be refused; a horse and a cart would make their trip to the Gate go twice as fast, plus all the added energy is always good, two of them would be like a God send.

Both Napoleon and Ubica have been thinking about buying one but that would take up a majority of the money that the group has made this entire week so they decided not to. A cart is quite expensive because many people rely on it as the base of their business and livelihood. For example, if a merchant's cart were to break on the road in the middle of a delivery being made to a different town, it would be as bad as a death sentence.

He would fail to make a profit on the goods that he bought and was wishing to sell, and be vulnerable to bandits, wolves, and if they make it through those two, ruthless debt collectors. The fact that a shop owning merchant is offering such a high price to find the God of Harvest must be important enough that this task might actually worthwhile.

Ubica glances at Daey with a smile and back to the kid.

"Alright."

He shakes the boy's hand and asks, "So what's your name?"

The boy scruffs his nose and states, "The name's Ian."

-------------------------------

"Are we all ready to go?"

Napoleon has a large packed duffel bag over his shoulder, he is addressing the group in the lobby and they are holding different variations of travel bags as well.

Trojia pats herself to see if she had forgotten anything and replies, "Yeah, so all we need to do is wait for Ubica and Daey to come back and we're out of here."

Tsubiri chimes in with a complaint, "How sneaky of Daey to pack both hers and Ubica's stuff just so they could go out and get lunch while we get ready..." she pouts and finishes, "...I should've thought of that."

Niomyo walks up to the lobby door and peeks out of the window. "Hey guys, they're back."

Tsubiri's and Trojia's faces light up and they rush to greet them. In comes Ubica and Daey, and to everyone's surprise comes a little boy as well.

"Who the hell is this brat?" asks Strauphius. His rude tone of voice is partially because he is already frustrated at Tsubiri's feelings toward Ubica.

Before they could reply Ian jumps in front of them and asks, "Who the hell are you?"

A vein surfaces in Straupius's head and with a voice full of anger he speaks through his teeth. "Cheeky little shit."

Ubica jumps in between them and nervously laughs, he feels that there is some kind of battle between two children that are fighting for their right as number one, except the problem is that one is twenty and the other is eleven.

"We need to hold back on leaving for a little." says Ubica,

Napoleon looks confused and asks, "What?"

------------------------

After telling them the story of why they should stay, Napoleon instantly agrees and now they are all looking for the God of Harvest. Since they had already checked out of the motel, the entire group is walking the streets while the festival is staging its last hoorah.

"So, can't you sense this deity Ubica?" asks Napoleon.
+
"W-What is it that you want to talk about, Rain?" Dice asks nervously.

  +
Rain puts her hand on her hip and leans on her leg. "Nothing in particular... I guess I just want to hear your voice."
"The thing is, for some reason I can't." he answers.

  +
Dice blushes and asks, "Is that a good thing?"
"So you're telling me you accepted this job blindly?"

  +
"I don't know yet... that's what I'm here to find out."
"Well yeah, think about how much those two carts will come in handy if we pull this off, I couldn't say no."

  +
Dice scratches his head and wonders if what the snake did actually worked, this kind of thing has never happened before so he figures that it has finally proven some results.
Napoleon sighs and rubs his head, "I guess you're right. Now we just need to figure out how to go about this."

  +
Rain walks within a few feet of him and looks him in the eyes. "Why did you do that?"
Ubica turns to Ian and grabs him by the ear. "Alright kid, I'm sure your boss gave you some kind of clues on how to find the God of Harvest, spill it."

  +
Dice feels very uncomfortable with her question, he doesn't exactly know how to reply because it was not him who said and did those things.
"Ow okay okay! Let go of my ear!" He shouts.

  +
"Because...because---"
Ubica releases his ear and Ian rubs it with a sour look on his face.

  +
"Because you love me right?" Rain interrupts.
"I guess she comes at random spots all over the city, one year, some guy found her dancing around in the flowers outside of the city walls."

  +
"T-That's right." he replies as his eyes shift away from her and toward the ground.
Ubica takes a deep breath and says, "Great... A wild goose chase."

  +
"Hmph." Rain puffs with a slight smile, she turns around and starts walking away. After a few feet she stops, and with her back to him she says, "I think I know now."
"No it's not! If you and that girl who you won the dance contest with looked around, I'm sure you'll find her easily!"

  +
She disappears in the darkness of the woods, leaving a confused Dice behind.
Ubica looks at Trojia and then back to Ian. "I gotta say, I'm really interested in what this God of Harvest is like.." he turns to the group and says, "Alright guys, we're going to split up and search around the city. Trojia, you're coming with me."

  +
"What does she mean by that?"
Trojia smiles and agrees wholeheartedly, but she is quite annoyed when he adds,

  +

"Ian, you're coming with us also."

  +
---------------------
So now the groups have been settled and are searching throughout the city. As a strategy to cover the most ground, Napoleon is searching the center of the city, Niomyo in the north, Strauphius in the east, Tsubiri in the west, Daey in the south, and Ubica's group is searching the outskirts of the city walls.

  +
"Wow! This place is amazing!" shouts Ian. He has eyes full of excitement at the sight of all of the different colored flowers that tatter the grassland.

  +
"We're here..." Rain says to the blond young man who's second in command as they both crouch in a natural forest burrow.

  +
They have left the area where her father's division was posted, and after traveling for more than three hours they have spotted a light that shines from within the dense woods.
"Haven't you been out here before?" asks Trojia.

  +
"If my map is correct this should be the 105th Specialist Division." she mentions, her eyes are stuck on a map that indicates their position.
Ian is wearing a wide smile revealing two missing teeth when he replies, "Nope!"

  +
It states that they are within a few hundred yards of where they need to be, and because she can hear the men talking around their campfires she knows that the map was accurate.
Ubica is taken aback by this, the city is quite big but it's nothing more than a half hour walk to its outskirts.

  +
"So how should we go about this?" the man asks.
"Why not?"

  +
Rain ponders for a moment and responds, "Full on frontal assault."
The smile on Ian's face fades just a little. "Well, I've been working for my boss since I was six. I live at the shop so if I'm not sent out of the city, I won't leave. That is till now!"

  +
"That's odd of you, don't you think it would be better if we surround them? We do have them outnumbered after all."
Ubica and Trojia can't help but think that is just a little cruel; sure a job like his is important but it might as well be working in a cage if it is like this. But it makes Ubica smile at the fact that he is finally experiencing the outside world.

  +
"That would be an insufficient waste of our efforts, I don't want to throw away my precious time strategically battling them if we can just wipe them out in one fell swoop."
Ian runs to a small hill and looks over the flower covered valley that is occupied by numerous squares of wheat fields and other farmland as far as the eye can see. He takes a deep breath and looks at the two, as if sensing how they are feeling about his situation, he shows another big smile and states, "But don't worry because one day, I'm going to see the entire world as a traveling merchant! Just like boss was!"

  +
The man ruffles his blond hair while scratching his head. "Well it makes sense... our side will definitely take on more casualties though."
These kind of dreams and ambitions really give Ubica a lot of energy, every time he sees the dedication in people's eyes when they talk of goals, it reminds him of himself trying to fight to get out of the situation he is in.

  +
"Who cares."
"It sounds like you really look up to your boss. What's he like?" he asks.

  +
The man takes a deep breath in discontent as she continues.
Ian replies and speaks quickly with enthusiasm, "He is great! He let's me live in the shop and he teaches me everything I need to know about becoming a traveling merchant!"

  +
"Time is far more important than expendable men. I want to get this done quickly and save the use of my technical intricacies for Tronoble."
Ubica walks to the top of the hill to join Ian, he pats him on the head and ruffles his hair. "That's good Ian, don't ever give up on your dream."

  +
He sighs loudly as if vehemently disagreeing with her, but having no choice but to oblige he says, "Yes ma'am."
"There's no way I will!" Ian says with a laugh as he runs around through the flowers.

  +
He stands up and walks back to the thousands of troops that are all lying in prone positions. Looking at this massive gathering of men he says, "At least we know there’s no chance of us losing."
Trojia walks to Ubica's side and holds his arm. "This is kind of funny."

  +
  +
The entire battalion is awaiting a simple hand gesture from her to signify the beginning of the attack, she has a big smile on her face as she thinks about how great things are working out. Dice is more than a mile behind her because he volunteered to take command of her father's division, so she knows he can't get in the way until the battle is over. This means that she can actually fight to her heart's content and the anticipation in doing so is making her body as light as a feather.

  +
She lifts her arm and is ready to point it forward when she happens to see a man in blue armor taking a leak behind a tree while drinking a full bottle of rum.
"What do you mean?"

  +
She drops her hands and ducks, watching him intently.
She smiles and rests her head on his shoulder, "You remind me of my dad."

  +
(Is he a lookout?) she thinks to herself.
Ubica laughs in confusion, "Um... Is that good?"

  +
She pulls out a foot long dagger from her boot and ponders an ambush.
Trojia remembers her father and replies, "Yes it is...You're good with kids just like him. I bet you'd make a good father."

  +
All the man needs to do is look to the right and he will see the massive force gathered on a hill, if he does, he would easily be able to outrun the Eiyalazonian military back to the core of his group and warn them of the dangers.
He releases his tension and is very pleased by her words, though he has never seriously thought about having kids, he always thinks about it when he sees families that are happily doing such things as shopping or going out to eat. Such normal activities that humans are blessed to be accustomed to really make him quite envious.

  +
This would certainly damper Rain's plans, with the Trojan's informed, they have more of a chance to arm themselves and prepare for a defensive battle; this would add more casualties to her men and even worse, cost them more time.
The three are walking down a stone pathway that winds throughout the many small hills of the surroundings, out in the distance people are gathering bundles of wheat into silos to make many different kinds of bread. Most towns that are similar to this one would usually make rye bread because it's the least expensive and easiest to harvest, plus, it lasts much longer than any kind of white bread many others, but most people find rye to be very bitter so they try to refrain from eating it unless they have to.

  +
After waiting for him to finish, Rain looks closely to see if he will catch a glimpse of the battalion and to her disappointment, he does. His face drops in shock and he jolts back to his group.
This city on the other hand has an abundance of wheat so expense of certain breads is the least of their worries, and in case of a drought, other crops of many different foods are at their leisure for consumption. No doubt, this is all the result of the God of Harvest and this is making Ubica very interested in seeing what this person is actually like. Most deities that reside in Purgatory only do things that result in being worshiped and will quickly kick the worshipers to the curb after they have had their fill, so the fact that this one is seemingly humble is surprising.

  +
Rain clicks her tongue and starts running after him as fast as she can through the dark forest.
"So... Which one is your real girlfriend Ubica?" Asks Ian as he throws a rock from the pathway off a hill.

  +
(He'd better not shout!) she thinks, knowing full well that if he does he might be close enough to his comrades to give away their position.
Ubica's shoulders jump and he doesn't answer.

  +
The two weave through the trees and Rain is steadily gaining on him, the man isn't used to running through trees like this so he is weary of each turn in order to not get stymied.
Trojia raises her eyebrow and asks, "What do you mean which one?"

  +
Rain notices this and realizes that she holds a distinct home field advantage.
Ian turns to them and starts waking backwards. "He was looking really comfy with the other girl at lunch earlier."

  +
This kind of activity is something that every Eiyalazonian is used to, they can judge the distances and gaps between the dense trees in an instant so they won't get entrapped or lost.
"Oh?... Is that a fact." she replies with a suspicious tone.

  +
Rain is within a few feet from the man when she readies her dagger.
Ubica's face drops, Trojia, who was once leaning on him tenderly is now squeezing his his arm violently and he can feel the blood circulation being cut off.

  +
The man senses this and becomes extremely nervous, he speeds up and then he feels that her presence has completely vanished. He looks behind him and finds that there is nobody, in fact, he can't even hear any footsteps and wonders if this whole incident is just his drunken imagination playing tricks on him.
'This kid is gonna get me killed!' he thinks to himself.

  +
While looking back he relaxes and loses his focus, he takes a sigh of relief and then...
"Neither of us are his girlfriend Ian." she says, she sighs and releases the tension in her hold on Ubica's arm.

  +
WHAAACCKK!!!
Ubica is a little stunned at hearing her say this, he was thinking about saying it himself but he was worried that it would only make her more angry.

  +
He slams head first into a tree and falls to the ground on his back.
"Really? Well it sure doesn't look like it." Ian says.

  +
"Ooah! Fuck!!" he shouts while holding the side of his head that banged into the tree.
It looks like he is about to continue but Ubica interrupts him so they can get off of this touchy subject.

  +
He just lays there and tries to recoup when he looks from side to side and sees that there is no one around.
"Anyways! So what does your boss want with the God of Harvest once we find her??"

  +
He starts to laugh loudly and says, "Damn this shitty forest, it has been playing tricks on me since I got here."
"Well he met her once when he became a shop owner, she gave him advice and helped him become very wealthy. All he wants to do is once again ask her for help in future business deals again, they say that if you are the first to find her, she will grant one wish that involves a harvest of some sort."

  +
He continues to laugh until he happens to look up into the branches of the tree he had just ran into.
This, although be it simple and nice is really pitiful; the use of this deity brings so much happiness to the people of this town, but by them accepting the deity's help, it's damning them to Hell. With each passing day, they are losing their chance at becoming human once more and gaining entrance into the ultimate paradise of Heaven.

  +
In the branches he sees the intense eyes of the girl who was chasing him, and she is pointing a large silver dagger at him that shines dangerously bright under the light of the moon.
"Well, we've walked more than a couple miles now, should we head back to the city and look?" asks Trojia.

  +
The man is blue with fright when she smiles and leaps towards the ground, before he could even move she viciously lands on him and in the same motion impales his chest cavity with the dagger.
Ian shows a sour face because he is thoroughly enjoying being outside of the city walls. Ubica agrees until he looks out in the distance and sees a batch of trees on top of a rather large hill.

  +
An instant kill.
"Hey kid, up on that hill where those trees are... "

  +
In her mind she understands that this was a flawless victory when she considers what she had just accomplished; she knew the man was running toward a tree by merely looking ahead of him at the formation. She knew at the speed he was going there was no avoiding it, so she abandoned her position behind him and cut to the right, which was a shortcut that had a clear path to where his collision course was. She hopped up the branch of one tree and up the branch of another until she was looking down on her prey.
Ian looks over to the miniature forest and asks, "What of it?"

  +
Albeit, this was as easy of a kill she would have imagined.
"The wood that is made into the statue of the God of Harvest... Does it come from that small forest?"

  +
Rain stands up off the man and looks down on him, he has a petrified look on his face and the way his eyes stare blankly up at her feels as though she is looking at the freeze frame of death itself. He was wearing this expression when he knew his final moments were up.
"Umm, I think so... Boss always said that the statue is made from the wood of the trees found just outside the city walls."

  +
She pulls the dagger out of his chest and looks at the blood.
Ubica grabs Trojia's hand and says, "I got a feeling that we will find her there, come on let's go!"

  +
A thin grin forms on her face when she says, "That felt great!"
With that they all rush through the flowers and up the hill.

  +
She runs back to the burrow she was once in and makes it to the sight of the battalion, she signals the attack and thousands of men come running off the hill and into the forest, but they are doing so very quietly to not give the Trojan's any kind of advanced warning.
"What's so special about that place?" asks Trojia as she is helplessly dragged along.

  +
Rain is running along with them, the blond man tosses her the long and thin sword that belongs to her and she unsheathes it; she smiles when she thinks of how many lives she can take with this blade that she herself designed.
"Remember when they said that the winner of the dance competition are the ones that pleased the God of Harvest the most? Well, assuming that it wasn't just up to the judges that would mean that she was watching us, and if that were the case she would be watching us through the statue that was overlooking the dance platform." Ubica purposes.

  +
They continue through the woods when the sight of the 105th Specialist Division can be seen, another wide smile surfaces on Rain's face when she sees the meager numbers of the men. It looks like they have less than four hundred men and they are outnumbered more than ten to one, and to top it off they are caught completely off guard.
"So you're saying that since she was dwelling in the wood of the statue, she'd be in the place where the wood came from?" Trojia asks.

  +
This is shaping up to be a massacre and Rain knows it, this makes the sweet taste of victory all the more sweeter because she also knows that in this group should be the two people who assassinated her father.
"That's right, if I'm right then that's where the God of Harvest will be. If I'm wrong, it was worth a try anyways."

  +
What starts as a silent battle turns into chaos as the mass of men begin to scream and the sounds of their swords clashing is heard in a metallic din.
Ian runs in front of them and says in an excited tone, "You're smarter than you look Ubica!"

  +
In the initial collision of the two forces, more than half the Trojan men were killed and only a few dozen Eiyalazonians were taken out.
They enter the forest and look around, it is actually larger than what it looked like from below, if one were to estimate it would be around ten to fifteen acres.

  +
The tidal wave had already broken their rands and there is no turning it around, the Trojans have no hope.

  +
Rain can see that distinct hopeless look in all of their panicked faces as she calmly walks inside the heart of the battlefield. She is scoping as many people as possible in order to find someone who fits the description of one of the two men given to her by Jalet, but she is having no such luck.
"Hey do you hear that?" Ubica says as he gestures the two to be quiet. "It sounds like humming."

  +
She clicks her tongue in frustration and swings her long blade at a Trojan man who is already engaged in battle with one of her own, it strikes his back and fatally wounds him. She continues to walk through the mass of carnage and does the same thing repeatedly, just to sooth her bitter attitude.
With open ears, the sound of a faint humming of a girl can be heard on the other end of the batch of trees. They walk quickly toward the sound, Ian's face is brightening up with each step, so is Ubica's for that matter, his interest has been piqued and he can't wait to meet this person.

  +
She reaches a point where there are more enemy soldiers than allies and stops; what she can see is the scrambling of men desperately trying to stem the tide. She notices that there are two men that are shouting orders to people and she assumes that they are the Captain and perhaps someone even higher up in the ranks.
A few trees away they can see a figure of a girl, though her body and face are being blocked by a tree, there is no doubt that this is the source of the humming. Her hands can be seen holding a palm full of seeds, she is tossing them on to the ground and within an instant flowers bloom and small trees begin to grow, this sight leaves no doubt in their minds that they have found the ever elusive God of Harvest.

  +
(I wonder if I can get to them?) she thinks as she analyzes the many different routes she can take through the men.

  +
Seeing that it is pretty much impossible to weave her way to the leaders, she decides to back away and run into the trees to attempt to sneak behind them.

  +
In the trees she slowly moves, inching her way through the darkness of the early morning in order to not be seen; but what worries her is that the Trojans might be trying the same thing, and to her annoyance she finds that there are a group of nine men that are heading in her direction.

  +
"Damn it all, I thought that after Zurvick and Captain Ash took out their Captain we'd be safe until our back up troops arrive next week..." one of the men spits.
She is leaning against a tree, she takes a seedling and from her hand turns it into a stalk of wheat, moving closer to around twenty feet away her body and facial features can be seen. She is wearing a plaid painter's cap, a plaid button up shirt with its sleeves rolled up to her forearms over a small white thin strap shirt that makes the skin of her chest and belly visible. Small jean shorts barely cover her bottom and long black socks stretch from her brown boots all the way to her lower thighs.

  +
Another man grits his teeth and adds, "Who would have thought that killing that Ditreig guy would piss them off so much?? This is ridiculous!"
She has astonishingly beautiful white hair and seducing gold eyes with similar pupils to Ubica's. The sight of her causes Ubica to turn blue with shock, though the outfit is different, this girl is no doubt the one named Messor.

  +
"It's a good thing they aren't here, I don't see how any of us are gonna get out of this one." said the one walking on the furthest to the left.
  +
They are not trying to be quiet, they think that there is no sign of enemy troops around them this deep in their lines so they are talking leisurely.

  +
Rain doesn't know this, but these are the men who were platooned with Zurvick and were with him around the campfire; these are the people that would likely know the most about the happenings with her father.
Ubica immediately snatches his hand away from the hold of Trojia's when Messor shifts her attention to them.

  +
Even though the exact circumstances are still unclear, she hides behind a tree and eavesdrops. She had already heard them drop three names, one being her father and the other two being some people named Zurvick and Ash, so she is puzzling the pieces together as they speak. She hides quietly and listens to their conversation.
"It's you! You look just like the statue!" shouts Ian with a big smile on his face.

  +
"It's a damn shame... I never got to try that friggin' liquor."
Trojia finds it odd that he'd say that because to her, the girl doesn't look anything like the wooden statue.

  +
"Ooahh I'm still thinking about that too!"
"Are you the God of Harvest?" she asks.

  +
"Come on guys don't be ridiculous, it's not like us regular soldiers would be able to drink something the Queen had made herself."
Messor smiles and replies, "Indeed I am."

  +
The men look happy as they talk about it, the mere fact that they were once so close to having a taste of something the most beautiful woman in their country had touched makes them antsy just thinking about it. This idle chit chat is definitely being used as a coping mechanism for their certain forthcoming fate, by doing this, they are keeping their minds off of their likely deaths coming next.
Ian starts jumping around in excitement. "This is so great! We did it!"

  +
"What a lucky bastard that Zurvick..."
Messor chuckles gently and asks, "Were you looking for me?"

  +
"Haha yeah no kidding."
"Yes! We are the first to find you right!?"

  +
Before the men can continue their talk they are interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind them, they quickly turn and they see a girl standing there, she is holding two rounded balls in both her hands and has a smile on her face.
"Yes you are."

  +
"Who are you!?" one man shouts.
"Then that means that you'll help us!?"

  +
This seems completely off to them, seeing a girl dressed in Eiyalazonian attire on the battlefield certainly shouldn't be happening because they know that there are no women in the enemy's military.
Messor stands to her feet, revealing a perfect body figure that makes even Trojia jealous. "Yes it does. What is it that you need?"

  +
"You know what these are right?" Rain asks as she points her hands out, gesturing them to look at what she's holding.
Ian tells her the story and she agrees, Ubica is still standing in the same position as stiff as a rock. The last time, she appeared in what seemed like a dream, but this time she has shown up in reality just a few feet away from him.

  +
The men all look at her with angst.
"Let's hurry back to the city guys!" Ian shouts.

  +
Judging by their reactions, she assumes they know.
With a cracked voice, Ubica responds, "Okay... You two go on ahead, I'd like to talk to the God of Harvest for a moment."

  +
"That's right, these are the new Eiyalazonian shrapnel bombs. The explosions they cause are quite violent, they can easily kill nine men standing this close."
Messor smiles and with an air full of kindness says, "Please, call me Messor."

  +
Explosives are very rare at this point in time, explosive minerals like gunpowder and other nitrates have only recently been discovered, and not in near enough quantity to mass produce combustible weapon. These balls of death are activated upon contact with a certain amount of weight pressure, and after two seconds it explodes and sends hot flames and shrapnel hurling through the air at immense speeds.
Ubica flinches at how easily she threw out her name, though, in Latin her name literally means Harvester. It's almost like he could have figured that it could have turned out like this if he had just thought about it.

  +
The men know that they are not in good shape, because of the trees they are pretty much in a confined area, thus making escape to be very difficult if not utterly unattainable.
"Okay, we'll meet you at the bottom of the hill!"

  +
Rain's smile grows wider when she says with a demands, "I'd like to hear about this Zurvick person."
Trojia looks back with a weary face but Ubica gestures for her to leave so she reluctantly follows Ian.

  +

"Is your name Ubica?" asks Messor with a voice full of sarcasm.

  +
------------------
Ubica frowns, grabs the scarf she wears over her neck and shouts, "Don't fuck with me Messor! What the hell are you doing here!?"

  +
She smiles and says, "How tense you are... Didn't I say that I was going to prove that I've changed?"

  +
A man sits on a large throne in a dark room, he laughs as he moves one of his black rooks up another spot on his chessboard.

  +
This time at the foot of his throne is Beelzebub.
She grabs his hand and moves it off of her scarf as she continues, "Well this is the beginning."

  +
He looks at the chessboard and sees that there are two black rooks along with the queen piece positioned upwards, and one white rook on the opposite side going forward.
Messor walks over to the side of a hill that has a good view of the city that rests a couple miles away. "Don't you find it sad that these people are so reliant on this deity? My first act in changing my ways is saving these people from damnation."

  +
"You seem awfully excited with that game of yours, if you don't mind my asking, what do those chess pieces signify?" Beelzebub asks.
Ubica is surprised that she would do such a thing, though taking away their ever so loved God of Harvest and leaving them to live by their own means may sound cruel, this is actually a gesture pure kindness.

  +
The man gestures his hand toward the board and replies, "These are souls."
"So what did you do to the God of Harvest?" he asks.

  +
"Oh? All of them?"
"I just took her place for now, I warned her to leave otherwise I'd kill her. Naturally she obliged when she found out who I am, I don't think she was all too keen on spending the rest of eternity in Limbo."

  +
"No, just the ones that have been moved up on my side of the table are souls that are under my control."
"So that's why that kid thinks you look just like the statue. This isn't like you Messor, I'd figure you'd just kill her off to make things simple."

  +
Beelzebub put his hand on his chin and asked, "What about the white one?"
She turns and shows a smile full of happiness and states, "I'm not that person anymore."

  +
"That is Lelaine Niveusvenia, the Queen of Troy. She is one of the souls that defied my tempting."
Ubica and Messor start walking through the forest and down the hill to meet Trojia and Ian. Birds can be heard singing and they are flying close and landing on Messor's hands at will. Ubica sees this and is amazed at this happening; back in the past, both of them were like repellent to animals because they could sense their evil.

  +
"And the black rooks?"
"So what are you planning to do after this?" Ubica asks, visibly weary of the answer he's expecting from her.

  +
The man points to them and states, "This one is Sturgess Issac, he is the Commanding General of the Trojan military. This one is Dice Di'Vore, the Prince of Eiyalazo."
Messor releases the bird and watches it fly off when she answers, "I guess it is to meet that child's boss and grant his wish."

  +
He stops his explanation and Beelzebub is obliged to ask, "And the last one?"
"No I mean after that."

  +
The man chuckles, "This person knew who I was yet still accepted my offer, she knew she was handing over control of her soul. This person has the ability to change the world for my gain, and with the powers I shall bestow on this one, I will return to Earth."
She turns to look Ubica square in the eyes and replies, "To help you in any way I can."

  +
Beelzebub has grown quite intrigued by this; though he is not involved with the happenings of Earth he finds the situation that blankets over the human world to be more than enough entertainment to hold his interest.
He sighs and shows a troubled face. Messor sees this and walks in front of him, she puts her hand on his chest and says, "Let me guess what you're thinking. Number one: I don't think that is necessary. Number two: You don't have to. Number three: I don't want your help because I still don't trust you."

  +
The man on the throne continues, "This person and the Queen are not as foolish as the others. The other two allowed me to take their souls without even knowing it, they never thought of the price of our contract.”
Ubica grabs her hand and shouts, "That's not true!"

  +
Beelzebub stares at the bright red eyes that shine in the darkness like scorching pieces of coal and asks once more, "So what is the name of this person?"
Messor frowns and her eyes glow a bright gold, "Then what is it then!? Why won't you let me help you!?"

  +
"Her name is..."
He jolts back in surprise, she is normally a level headed person to the extreme, for her to show such emotion over this he finds very shocking.

"Because... I... I."

  +
--------------------
"It's because of that girl isn't it..? No... It's not just her, there are two others right?" She asks as her calm demeanor returns to her body.

  +
Ubica shifts his eyes away from her and begins to walk again.

  +
Rain is awaiting the answer of the men that she is holding hostage with the two bombs she holds in her hands.

  +
She urges them to hurry by saying, "Come on now, if you guys stay silent I'll find you to be useless, and if I find you to be useless, I will kill you."
"What do you think?"

  +
They all look at each other with wary eyes and one of the men steps forward.
Messor clicks her tongue, "I can make them strong you know."

  +
"We would never sell out one of our own."
This catches his attention and he raises his eyebrow as she continues.

  +
Rain scowls at him and asks, "Are you all willing to sacrifice your lives for this one man?"
"They are in Purgatory and they are 'aware', if you let me join you I can teach them how to use the powers that come with having that knowledge."

  +
"Of course we are!" a man shouts.
"How?"

  +
Rain smiles evilly, "Oh really now? I don't mean to tread on your integrity but I find it very odd that all nine of you would die for a regular soldier... I would find it strange that you'd forfeit yourselves even for the sake of your Captain."
"Can't you see it? Everything about the old me is gone, all of the malice that gave me the power I once had has been given up. The only thing I am capable of now is helping people, to give your comrades the abilities that are available to them will be as easy as flipping a switch."

  +
A man puffs air out of his nose and responds, "Hmph! Well you don't know those two!"
Ubica looks up into the sky as he does so often and ponders. This kind of thing is drastically needed in order for them to defend themselves if something were to happen to them; they got Strauphius to try to teach them but he couldn't explain it to them in any kind of sensible manner. So having someone who can is very important.

  +
They all smile in agreement as they ready themselves for the worst.
He turns to her and teasingly pulls her painters cap over her eyes. "I want you to change for yourself, not because of me..."

  +
"I actually think I do, gentlemen... your Captain's name is Ash Alworth right? If I'm not mistaken, that is a woman's name." The men all stay silent as Rain continues. "And did I hear something about the Queen? Oh yeah that's right, it was something about the liquor she personally made for the soldier who assassinated Captain Ditreig. That in and of itself is odd, unless... hmmm, the soldier's name was Zurvick wasn't it? Zurvick Niveusvenia, the King of Troy who fights alongside his men in battle, that man would certainly be someone you all would choose death for."
She lifts her hat and smiles happily. "Everything I've ever done and will ever do is only because of you Ubica."

  +
She knows all of this because of the countless studying she has done on the opposing armies of Troy and La’Juune, especially on this division in particular; of course she knew who Ash Alworth was beforehand.
"I never could say no to you."

  +
The part about the King is purely speculation however, she had heard that King Zurvick fights with his men through the Trojan newspapers but had no clue where he fought and what division he fought in. That information was kept classified for obvious reasons.
She tries to straighten her soft white hair that has been roughed up because of Ubica when she asks, "Does that mean you'll accept me?"

  +
The men are still shocked at her deduction; she is spot on accurate on the info they wanted to hide just from hearing a few words of their conversation.
Ubica starts walking down the hill when he says, "Yes it does... But I'll always be watching you Messor... Don't forget that."

  +
They look at each other and in silence come to the conclusion that they absolutely can't let this girl leave with this knowledge at all costs, and with that they charge at Rain. In their mind, if she wants to use the hand-bombs, it would result in her blowing herself up as well.
Messor watches him gain distance from her, her eyes glow when she says under her breath, "I wouldn't want it any other way."

  +
Rain smiles and calmly tosses the bombs at her feet, this catches them off guard, they are less than fifteen feet away from her and they know that they are all in the range of the blast, including her.
---------------------------

  +
"Hahaha, your reactions tell me all I needed to know. My use for you is over.”
"What's your name?" asks Messor.

  +
BBOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!
This question is directed toward a certain girl who is amazed my Messor's beauty. "My name is Trojia."

  +
The bombs blow and it rips through the men and the trees.
The three quickly introduce themselves and head toward the city; Ubica is curious as to how well Messor will get along with Trojia. Back when they were the Anti-Christ and the False Prophet, she would usually kill any women who would make an advance on Ubica so this is making him somewhat worried.

  +
Because there are two of them, the explosion is so large that it would easily kill anyone within a 20 yard radius, the men were within ten feet of Rain so they are instantly obliterated.
Trojia slows down and walks to Ubica's side, Messor and Ian are holding hands as Ian dances, and Ubica can't help but smile tenderly at this scene.

  +
Once the smoke clears the carnage can be seen, all nine of the men are now bloodied and mangled corpses.
Trojia finds this a little odd so she asks, "Hey... do you know her?"

  +
However, there is one person standing with her hand on her hip and leaning on her left leg.
He jumps back and tries to find words, "Eh... ah... No, why would you think that?"

  +
The last person standing is none other than Rain.
She scratches her head and ponders a reason, when nothing comes she replies, "I dunno, I guess it just seemed that way for a moment... Also, you guys both have the same kind of eyes."

  +
She has somehow survived the blast and is completely unscathed, she walks over their mangled bodies and says to the dead men, "There is no way I would be killed by something as simple as a bomb."
He nervously laughs and is quite passive when he says, "Oh? Now that you mention it, we kinda do, heh heh hehe. And here I thought I was unique."

  +
She looks out toward the heart of the battle and sees that this blitzkrieg is almost a full on victory, she guesses that it will be over in less than five minutes. She decides to relax and watch on until the fray calms, once it's done she'll give further orders to make sure they leave a couple survivors from the higher ranks.
Trojia chuckles, "Trust me, you are the most unique person there is... But she is also unique because she is so pretty, maybe that's why I feel that you two are alike."

  +
"Now the real fun begins."
He flicks her forehead and joins her in laughter, "Flattery will get you no where."

"I'm not trying to flatter you at all!"

  +
----------------
The two shove at each other playfully and merrily walk along the road. Though she is not looking, Messor can sense the happy vibe from behind her back and is becoming somewhat angered by it. But this feeling disappears when they reach the walls of the city.

  +
Ian tries to rush the three to his shop by yelling "Let's go!" and beginning to run through the labyrinth of people.

  +
Dice is riding a horse at full speed toward the site of the battle in which Rain is involved in; behind him is Ditreig's former division and of course, the majority are on foot so Dice is far ahead of them.

  +
"I hope she's okay." he says worriedly to himself.
In order to not lose him the three move briskly through the crowd in pursuit.

  +
They were an hour behind but they had already decided to increase their speed in order to catch up long before that, so now they are only a few minutes from reaching the battlefield.
-----------------------------------

  +
Once there, they find that it is over.
The job has now been done; the three of them went to Ian's boss's shop and granted his wish. Though saddened at the fact that Messor, who is taking place of the God of Harvest said she planned on leaving after this, Ian kept his head held high and said his thank yous repeatedly.

  +
The 105th Specialist Division has been entirely demolished, the Trojan's fought hard though, a good amount of Eiyalazonian soldiers have been killed as well. 70 Eiyalazonion soldiers died in the fighting, with a few dozen more wounded.
After acquiring the two carts they all wave their goodbyes and head off into the sunset.

  +
Dice gets off his horse and walking through the piles of dead soldiers looking for Rain, he spots the higher up with two different colored eyes and asks him, "Do you know where Rain is?"
"Wow that was a lot easier than I thought it would be." says Ubica while scratching his head.

  +
He looks at him and replies, "She's on the other side of this camp interrogating a soldier."
The group met up in the town square and left the vibrant town.

  +
"Thank you." Dice says as he starts to run to the other side of the battlegrounds.
This past week has been a break from all of the dangers that occupy their minds with the current situation that they are in; it is kind of a shame that they have to leave a place where they had such good times.

  +
After running for a few minutes he finds Rain, along with a few men standing over a bloodied Trojan soldier who is tied to a tree.
They are all sitting in their two horse drawn carts heading north once again, but this time there is an added person.

  +
Rain lifts the bloodied man's drooping head with the dull end of her thin longsword and says, "So King Zurvick and Captain Ash left this division as soon as they got back from the assassination mission. Is that all you're going to tell me? I'd like to know where they are going."
"Yeah, all I did was tell him what to expect in the market place in the next few months with the God of Harvest’s departure." says the added person, this girl is none other than Messor the fabled False Prophet.

  +
The man glares at her with bloodshot eyes and spits blood onto her shirt. "I'm not going to tell you shit."
Naturally, none of the group knows this except for Ubica the Anti-Christ.

  +
"Oh? I think I can persuade you to do otherwise."
Trojia is sitting with the two along with Napoleon who is riding up front, guiding the reins for the horses, she smiles and says, "Ian seemed really happy that you helped him, he couldn't stop saying thank you."

  +
The man laughs loudly and spits at her again.
Ubica joins in this happy mood, "It's probably because the more success that comes to his boss, the better chance it is that he will fulfill his dream of becoming a traveling merchant." He turns to Messor and puts his hand on her shoulder and continues, "Thank you for helping him Messor, that was really kind."

  +
Rain takes her sword and sticks it into his eye, with a little maneuvering she easily extracts it and it falls to the ground, she ignores the man's screams and makes him watch her stomp on his severed eye.
Trojia puts out her arm for a handshake and says, "We never got to properly introduce ourselves... Nice to meet you Messor, I hope we can be good friends."

  +
"Gurraaaaahhh!! You bitch!"
Ubica freezes in curiosity at what her reaction will be to this, if Messor is truly committed to what she says, she would not show any animosity toward her.

  +
"You must understand that this is what will continue to happen unless you tell me where they are. Can you imagine what it will be like with no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, and no fingers and toes?"
Messor shakes her hand and politely speaks with a voice full of delight, "It's my pleasure, I look forward to our journey together."

  +
The man finally expresses some nervousness, and Rain can see it clearly.
"I'm sorry to intrude on your conversation, but I am quite interested in how and when you will teach us how to gain abilities." Napoleon bluntly interrupts.

  +
"It won't be enough to kill you though; you will continue to live like that for the rest of your life. We will keep you alive, you have my word that the rest your miserable days will be in absolute agony as a deaf, blind, and disfigured mute."
Messor giggles and sarcastically replies, "Nice to meet you too."

  +
"I-I can't tell you." he says with horror in his voice.
Ubica cringes when he sees Napoleon's eyebrow twitch in annoyance, an army man such as him finds it very difficult to tolerate even the simplest of things when the topic of talk is important.

  +
Rain points her sword to his other eye and says, "Very well then, let's see if you still have the same composure when a few more of your extremities are gone."
"My name is Napoleon. Now please answer my question." he says sharply.

  +
He feels the blade touch his remaining eyeball and shouts, "Okay I'll tell you!!!!"
Trojia and Ubica have cold sweats rolling down their temples, the tone of his voice signifies an impatience that he is terrible at hiding.

  +
"That was easier than I thought it'd be, now spill it."
It seems that Messor senses this and decides to make him wait.

  +
She removes her sword and listens to him explain.
"You see, the thing about that is, I find it hard to explain anything when I'm tired. How about I tell you when we set up camp tonight?"

  +
"They are heading back to the Capital of Troy..."
This is obviously a blatant attempt at purposely making him wait. She is smiling and shooting a 'gotcha' look into the back of his head and he feels it beating on him, he can't really say anything because he knows that if she is telling the truth, she is vital to the groups survival.

  +
"By land or by sea?" she asks.
All he can do is roll his eyes and say, "Fine."

  +
"By land."
The simultaneous sighs of relief from Trojia and Ubica can be heard as they lean back in their seats and head of off into the upcoming night.

  +
It's fortunate that they didn't decide to go back to the Capital by boat, if that happened there is no way Rain would be able to catch up with them. Not only would they have been much further along traveling by sea, the Trojan Navy is far superior than Eiyalazo's, it would have been a suicide mission trying to pursue them.
"This looks like a good place to stay for the night." says Napoleon as he pulls the cart into a batch of trees just a few dozen yards off the dirt road in which they are traveling on.

  +
Because they are on foot, there’s only one route north to reach the Capital, and that is through the southern Trojan city of Tronoble.
He jumps off and begins to set up the tents that they had bought back in town with some of the money from all of their part time jobs.

  +
Doing the math in her head, she realizes that they can catch up to them if they leave a little after the sun rises; because the two aren't in any kind of rush they'd probably stay in Tronoble for a couple day's rest. This will allow them to attack the city while the two are still there; she smiles and wonders if there are any other questions she needs to ask and comes to the conclusion that she has all the information she could ever want.
From behind them comes the other cart with the rest of the group being driven by Niomyo, she parks and steps off to help him with the tents.

  +
"Wasn't that easy enough? We're finished here."
With camp almost completely set up, the group and Messor have all been acquainted and seem to get along fairly well. Ubica is leaning against a tree from afar and watching her interactions with his comrades with a soft smile on his face.

  +
She walks away and the man asks her, "So what are you going to do to me?"
Messor turns to him and heads over to his area, leaving the others behind and talking amongst themselves.

  +
Rain turns and responds, "Me? I'm not going to do anything to you."
"You look relieved Ubica."

  +
He sighs in relief until she says,
"I guess you can say that... You were normally not this personable."

  +
"But my men are a different story."
She laughs and says, "You weren't either."

  +
"W-What!?"
"Hahah, well that is true."

  +
The surrounding men all pull out their swords and impale him to the tree, killing him on the spot.
Messor walks past him and proceeds deeper into the woods.

  +
Dice, after witnessing all this is utterly mortified at Rain's actions.

  +
He thinks to himself, (How can she do these things!? This isn't the Rain that I know, it's like she's a completely different person!)
"Hey where are you going?" Ubica asks.

  +
He falls to his knees and all of the sudden the familiar voice of the snake surfaces in his head.

  +
"This personality of hers has always been there my fair Prince. You must appease to what she truly is, otherwise you will never have her."
She turns and sticks her tongue out. "Even someone like me has to use the ladies room every once in a while."

  +
"But... this isn't the girl I fell in love with."
Ubica blushes and mutters, "Ah... Oh.."

  +
"How so? Is that not her standing in front of you? She is the same as ever, but you have been too blind to see it, and that is why she doesn't love you in return."
"Oh? Are you having perverted thoughts about me?" she asks in a teasing tone.

  +
Dice puts his hands on his head and squeezes his hair. "T-That's why she treats me so coldly?"
Ubica shuts his eyes and holds out his hands in a swaying motion.

  +
The snake's voice becomes louder, "Yes my fair Prince, she treats you coldly because she is waiting for you to see who she really is. Why else would she not return your feelings? She wants to love you but she needs to see that you can be someone who can accept and coexist with her true self. There is no one else in the world who can do that except you. Can't you see that she is asking you if you can do that? If you are willing to continue on this path alongside her, I can give you the means to obtain her affection! What is your answer Dice Di'Vore!?"
"N-No I'm not! I'm not at all!"

  +
The snake's voice seems to hypnotize the young Prince, sending him into some kind of trance.
"Hahahahaha awh how cute your flustered face is."

  +
Dice smiles cynically and answers, "I ACCEPT!!!"
She turns to walk away and thinks back on how she has never seen that side of him before, looking back on him she sees that he is still standing there with a stupid look on his face.

  +

"A little privacy?"

  +
Ubica scrambles ,"R-Right!" he shouts and quickly walks away toward the rest of the group.

  +
Rain is alone in the darkness of the deep forest and she is laughing somewhat hysterically to herself. The hate for Ash and Zurvick is growing and is beginning to weigh heavier and heavier in her chest.

  +
"Hahahaha the King of Troy killed my father! The two of them used to be close friends, what kind of shitty man assassinates his friend!? Hahahaha this is great!"
Messor has a smile as she watches his back become smaller the further away he walks, but it turns sour when she loses sight of him and she says under her breath, "Relax Ubica... It's not like it's anything you haven't seen before."

  +
She can barely see a few feet in front of her but is reveling with the darkened silhouettes of the trees as her only audience.
Messor walks into the dark of the trees until she can't hear the voices of the rest of the group. She reaches into the pocket of her skinny jean shorts and pulls out a small locket with a pentagram on it, she opens it and what lies inside is just a blank piece of black paper velvet.

  +
"Things are going so much more smoothly than I'd ever imagined!"
"Have you joined them yet?" a man's voice is heard coming from the locket.

  +
With a deep calming breath, she lifts her right sleeve that normally hangs to her fingertips; she points her arm upwards and smiles while looking at the back of her hand.
Messor has a confident yet blank smile when she replies sarcastically, "Would I have answered your call if I didn't?"

  +
With a wide grin she says, "I must say snake... you are indeed working miracles for me."
"Such a sharp girl you are. I must suggest that you remember who rescued you from the eternal lake of fire before you use your usual tone of voice towards me."

  +
On the back of her hand, a tattoo of a pentagram.
She clicks her tongue and replies, "If it wasn't for you, I never would've been in that lake in the first place."

  +

A chuckle can be heard from the locket, "That is where you're wrong, do not blame other people for your own foolish decisions... Oh my, it seems that we are getting off topic..."

Messor takes a deep breath to suppress her anger and says, "So what do you want?"

"I just wanted to make sure you knew exactly what the plan is... And perhaps I'd like to know your whereabouts."

Rain on the Battlefield: (END)
She laughs and answers, "I do know the exact plan, how could I forget? It benefits me as well... As for where I am, I will not tell you, I won't ever let you do something to harm Ubica."

"Hehehe, you are a walking contradiction Messor. I will find you eventually, it's just a matter of time."

She stretches out her arms and says, "When that time comes, I'll deal with you appropriately."

The voice coming from the locket slowly fades away, "Very well then; until that time I would like for you to keep this little secret between us two, none of our comrades can know about this for now... Goodbye Messor."

The voice dissipates, leaving Messor with an unbecoming frown on her face. She shuts the locket and slips it back into her skinny jeans shorts.

Heading back to the rest of the group she turns the frown into a conniving smile and says, "Don't put me in with them, they are not my comrades... Especially not you Damien... My loyalty only rests with one man, and I have my own plans for him.."

(PART 3)

"W-What is it that you want to talk about, Rain?" Dice asks nervously.

Rain puts her hand on her hip and leans on her leg. "Nothing in particular... I guess I just want to hear your voice."

Dice blushes and asks, "Is that a good thing?"

"I don't know yet... that's what I'm here to find out."

Dice scratches his head and wonders if what the snake did actually worked, this kind of thing has never happened before so he figures that it has finally proven some results.

Rain walks within a few feet of him and looks him in the eyes. "Why did you do that?"

Dice feels very uncomfortable with her question, he doesn't exactly know how to reply because it was not him who said and did those things.

"Because...because---"

"Because you love me right?" Rain interrupts.

"T-That's right." he replies as his eyes shift away from her and toward the ground.

"Hmph." Rain puffs with a slight smile, she turns around and starts walking away. After a few feet she stops, and with her back to him she says, "I think I know now."

She disappears in the darkness of the woods, leaving a confused Dice behind.

"What does she mean by that?"

"We're here..." Rain says to the blond young man who's second in command as they both crouch in a natural forest burrow.

They have left the area where her father's division was posted, and after traveling for more than three hours they have spotted a light that shines from within the dense woods.

"If my map is correct this should be the 105th Specialist Division." she mentions, her eyes are stuck on a map that indicates their position.

It states that they are within a few hundred yards of where they need to be, and because she can hear the men talking around their campfires she knows that the map was accurate.

"So how should we go about this?" the man asks.

Rain ponders for a moment and responds, "Full on frontal assault."

"That's odd of you, don't you think it would be better if we surround them? We do have them outnumbered after all."

"That would be an insufficient waste of our efforts, I don't want to throw away my precious time strategically battling them if we can just wipe them out in one fell swoop."

The man ruffles his blond hair while scratching his head. "Well it makes sense... our side will definitely take on more casualties though."

"Who cares."

The man takes a deep breath in discontent as she continues.

"Time is far more important than expendable men. I want to get this done quickly and save the use of my technical intricacies for Tronoble."

He sighs loudly as if vehemently disagreeing with her, but having no choice but to oblige he says, "Yes ma'am."

He stands up and walks back to the thousands of troops that are all lying in prone positions. Looking at this massive gathering of men he says, "At least we know there’s no chance of us losing."

She lifts her arm and is ready to point it forward when she happens to see a man in blue armor taking a leak behind a tree while drinking a full bottle of rum.

She drops her hands and ducks, watching him intently.

(Is he a lookout?) she thinks to herself.

She pulls out a foot long dagger from her boot and ponders an ambush.

All the man needs to do is look to the right and he will see the massive force gathered on a hill, if he does, he would easily be able to outrun the Eiyalazonian military back to the core of his group and warn them of the dangers.

This would certainly damper Rain's plans, with the Trojan's informed, they have more of a chance to arm themselves and prepare for a defensive battle; this would add more casualties to her men and even worse, cost them more time.

After waiting for him to finish, Rain looks closely to see if he will catch a glimpse of the battalion and to her disappointment, he does. His face drops in shock and he jolts back to his group.

Rain clicks her tongue and starts running after him as fast as she can through the dark forest.

(He'd better not shout!) she thinks, knowing full well that if he does he might be close enough to his comrades to give away their position.

The two weave through the trees and Rain is steadily gaining on him, the man isn't used to running through trees like this so he is weary of each turn in order to not get stymied.

Rain notices this and realizes that she holds a distinct home field advantage.

This kind of activity is something that every Eiyalazonian is used to, they can judge the distances and gaps between the dense trees in an instant so they won't get entrapped or lost.

Rain is within a few feet from the man when she readies her dagger.

The man senses this and becomes extremely nervous, he speeds up and then he feels that her presence has completely vanished. He looks behind him and finds that there is nobody, in fact, he can't even hear any footsteps and wonders if this whole incident is just his drunken imagination playing tricks on him.

While looking back he relaxes and loses his focus, he takes a sigh of relief and then...

WHAAACCKK!!!

He slams head first into a tree and falls to the ground on his back.

"Ooah! Fuck!!" he shouts while holding the side of his head that banged into the tree.

He just lays there and tries to recoup when he looks from side to side and sees that there is no one around.

He starts to laugh loudly and says, "Damn this shitty forest, it has been playing tricks on me since I got here."

He continues to laugh until he happens to look up into the branches of the tree he had just ran into.

In the branches he sees the intense eyes of the girl who was chasing him, and she is pointing a large silver dagger at him that shines dangerously bright under the light of the moon.

The man is blue with fright when she smiles and leaps towards the ground, before he could even move she viciously lands on him and in the same motion impales his chest cavity with the dagger.

An instant kill.

Albeit, this was as easy of a kill she would have imagined.

Rain stands up off the man and looks down on him, he has a petrified look on his face and the way his eyes stare blankly up at her feels as though she is looking at the freeze frame of death itself. He was wearing this expression when he knew his final moments were up.

She pulls the dagger out of his chest and looks at the blood.

A thin grin forms on her face when she says, "That felt great!"

She runs back to the burrow she was once in and makes it to the sight of the battalion, she signals the attack and thousands of men come running off the hill and into the forest, but they are doing so very quietly to not give the Trojan's any kind of advanced warning.

Rain is running along with them, the blond man tosses her the long and thin sword that belongs to her and she unsheathes it; she smiles when she thinks of how many lives she can take with this blade that she herself designed.

They continue through the woods when the sight of the 105th Specialist Division can be seen, another wide smile surfaces on Rain's face when she sees the meager numbers of the men. It looks like they have less than four hundred men and they are outnumbered more than ten to one, and to top it off they are caught completely off guard.

This is shaping up to be a massacre and Rain knows it, this makes the sweet taste of victory all the more sweeter because she also knows that in this group should be the two people who assassinated her father.

What starts as a silent battle turns into chaos as the mass of men begin to scream and the sounds of their swords clashing is heard in a metallic din.

In the initial collision of the two forces, more than half the Trojan men were killed and only a few dozen Eiyalazonians were taken out. The tidal wave had already broken their rands and there is no turning it around, the Trojans have no hope.

Rain can see that distinct hopeless look in all of their panicked faces as she calmly walks inside the heart of the battlefield. She is scoping as many people as possible in order to find someone who fits the description of one of the two men given to her by Jalet, but she is having no such luck.

She clicks her tongue in frustration and swings her long blade at a Trojan man who is already engaged in battle with one of her own, it strikes his back and fatally wounds him. She continues to walk through the mass of carnage and does the same thing repeatedly, just to sooth her bitter attitude.

She reaches a point where there are more enemy soldiers than allies and stops; what she can see is the scrambling of men desperately trying to stem the tide. She notices that there are two men that are shouting orders to people and she assumes that they are the Captain and perhaps someone even higher up in the ranks.

(I wonder if I can get to them?) she thinks as she analyzes the many different routes she can take through the men.

Seeing that it is pretty much impossible to weave her way to the leaders, she decides to back away and run into the trees to attempt to sneak behind them.

In the trees she slowly moves, inching her way through the darkness of the early morning in order to not be seen; but what worries her is that the Trojans might be trying the same thing, and to her annoyance she finds that there are a group of nine men that are heading in her direction.

"Damn it all, I thought that after Zurvick and Captain Ash took out their Captain we'd be safe until our back up troops arrive next week..." one of the men spits.

Another man grits his teeth and adds, "Who would have thought that killing that Ditreig guy would piss them off so much?? This is ridiculous!" "It's a good thing they aren't here, I don't see how any of us are gonna get out of this one." said the one walking on the furthest to the left. They are not trying to be quiet, they think that there is no sign of enemy troops around them this deep in their lines so they are talking leisurely.

Rain doesn't know this, but these are the men who were platooned with Zurvick and were with him around the campfire; these are the people that would likely know the most about the happenings with her father.

Even though the exact circumstances are still unclear, she hides behind a tree and eavesdrops. She had already heard them drop three names, one being her father and the other two being some people named Zurvick and Ash, so she is puzzling the pieces together as they speak. She hides quietly and listens to their conversation.

"It's a damn shame... I never got to try that friggin' liquor."

"Ooahh I'm still thinking about that too!"

"Come on guys don't be ridiculous, it's not like us regular soldiers would be able to drink something the Queen had made herself."

"What a lucky bastard that Zurvick..."

"Haha yeah no kidding."

Before the men can continue their talk they are interrupted by the sound of footsteps behind them, they quickly turn and they see a girl standing there, she is holding two rounded balls in both her hands and has a smile on her face.

"Who are you!?" one man shouts.

This seems completely off to them, seeing a girl dressed in Eiyalazonian attire on the battlefield certainly shouldn't be happening because they know that there are no women in the enemy's military.

"You know what these are right?" Rain asks as she points her hands out, gesturing them to look at what she's holding.

The men all look at her with angst.

Judging by their reactions, she assumes they know.

"That's right, these are the new Eiyalazonian shrapnel bombs. The explosions they cause are quite violent, they can easily kill nine men standing this close."

The men know that they are not in good shape, because of the trees they are pretty much in a confined area, thus making escape to be very difficult if not utterly unattainable.

Rain's smile grows wider when she says with a demands, "I'd like to hear about this Zurvick person."

A man sits on a large throne in a dark room, he laughs as he moves one of his black rooks up another spot on his chessboard.

This time at the foot of his throne is Beelzebub.

He looks at the chessboard and sees that there are two black rooks along with the queen piece positioned upwards, and one white rook on the opposite side going forward.

"You seem awfully excited with that game of yours, if you don't mind my asking, what do those chess pieces signify?" Beelzebub asks.

The man gestures his hand toward the board and replies, "These are souls."

"Oh? All of them?"

"No, just the ones that have been moved up on my side of the table are souls that are under my control."

Beelzebub put his hand on his chin and asked, "What about the white one?"

"That is Lelaine Niveusvenia, the Queen of Troy. She is one of the souls that defied my tempting."

"And the black rooks?"

The man points to them and states, "This one is Sturgess Issac, he is the Commanding General of the Trojan military. This one is Dice Di'Vore, the Prince of Eiyalazo."

He stops his explanation and Beelzebub is obliged to ask, "And the last one?"

The man chuckles, "This person knew who I was yet still accepted my offer, she knew she was handing over control of her soul. This person has the ability to change the world for my gain, and with the powers I shall bestow on this one, I will return to Earth."

Beelzebub has grown quite intrigued by this; though he is not involved with the happenings of Earth he finds the situation that blankets over the human world to be more than enough entertainment to hold his interest.

The man on the throne continues, "This person and the Queen are not as foolish as the others. The other two allowed me to take their souls without even knowing it, they never thought of the price of our contract.”

Beelzebub stares at the bright red eyes that shine in the darkness like scorching pieces of coal and asks once more, "So what is the name of this person?"

"Her name is..."

Rain is awaiting the answer of the men that she is holding hostage with the two bombs she holds in her hands.

She urges them to hurry by saying, "Come on now, if you guys stay silent I'll find you to be useless, and if I find you to be useless, I will kill you."

They all look at each other with wary eyes and one of the men steps forward.

"We would never sell out one of our own."

Rain scowls at him and asks, "Are you all willing to sacrifice your lives for this one man?"

"Of course we are!" a man shouts.

Rain smiles evilly, "Oh really now? I don't mean to tread on your integrity but I find it very odd that all nine of you would die for a regular soldier... I would find it strange that you'd forfeit yourselves even for the sake of your Captain."

A man puffs air out of his nose and responds, "Hmph! Well you don't know those two!"

They all smile in agreement as they ready themselves for the worst.

She knows all of this because of the countless studying she has done on the opposing armies of Troy and La’Juune, especially on this division in particular; of course she knew who Ash Alworth was beforehand.

The part about the King is purely speculation however, she had heard that King Zurvick fights with his men through the Trojan newspapers but had no clue where he fought and what division he fought in. That information was kept classified for obvious reasons.

The men are still shocked at her deduction; she is spot on accurate on the info they wanted to hide just from hearing a few words of their conversation.

They look at each other and in silence come to the conclusion that they absolutely can't let this girl leave with this knowledge at all costs, and with that they charge at Rain. In their mind, if she wants to use the hand-bombs, it would result in her blowing herself up as well.

Rain smiles and calmly tosses the bombs at her feet, this catches them off guard, they are less than fifteen feet away from her and they know that they are all in the range of the blast, including her.

"Hahaha, your reactions tell me all I needed to know. My use for you is over.”

BBOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!!!!

The bombs blow and it rips through the men and the trees.

Because there are two of them, the explosion is so large that it would easily kill anyone within a 20 yard radius, the men were within ten feet of Rain so they are instantly obliterated.

Once the smoke clears the carnage can be seen, all nine of the men are now bloodied and mangled corpses.

However, there is one person standing with her hand on her hip and leaning on her left leg.

The last person standing is none other than Rain.

She has somehow survived the blast and is completely unscathed, she walks over their mangled bodies and says to the dead men, "There is no way I would be killed by something as simple as a bomb."

"Now the real fun begins."

Dice is riding a horse at full speed toward the site of the battle in which Rain is involved in; behind him is Ditreig's former division and of course, the majority are on foot so Dice is far ahead of them.

"I hope she's okay." he says worriedly to himself.

They were an hour behind but they had already decided to increase their speed in order to catch up long before that, so now they are only a few minutes from reaching the battlefield.

Once there, they find that it is over.

The 105th Specialist Division has been entirely demolished, the Trojan's fought hard though, a good amount of Eiyalazonian soldiers have been killed as well. 70 Eiyalazonion soldiers died in the fighting, with a few dozen more wounded.

Dice gets off his horse and walking through the piles of dead soldiers looking for Rain, he spots the higher up with two different colored eyes and asks him, "Do you know where Rain is?"

He looks at him and replies, "She's on the other side of this camp interrogating a soldier."

"Thank you." Dice says as he starts to run to the other side of the battlegrounds.

After running for a few minutes he finds Rain, along with a few men standing over a bloodied Trojan soldier who is tied to a tree.

Rain lifts the bloodied man's drooping head with the dull end of her thin longsword and says, "So King Zurvick and Captain Ash left this division as soon as they got back from the assassination mission. Is that all you're going to tell me? I'd like to know where they are going."

The man glares at her with bloodshot eyes and spits blood onto her shirt. "I'm not going to tell you shit."

"Oh? I think I can persuade you to do otherwise."

The man laughs loudly and spits at her again.

Rain takes her sword and sticks it into his eye, with a little maneuvering she easily extracts it and it falls to the ground, she ignores the man's screams and makes him watch her stomp on his severed eye.

"Gurraaaaahhh!! You bitch!"

"You must understand that this is what will continue to happen unless you tell me where they are. Can you imagine what it will be like with no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, and no fingers and toes?"

The man finally expresses some nervousness, and Rain can see it clearly.

"It won't be enough to kill you though; you will continue to live like that for the rest of your life. We will keep you alive, you have my word that the rest your miserable days will be in absolute agony as a deaf, blind, and disfigured mute."

"I-I can't tell you." he says with horror in his voice.

Rain points her sword to his other eye and says, "Very well then, let's see if you still have the same composure when a few more of your extremities are gone."

He feels the blade touch his remaining eyeball and shouts, "Okay I'll tell you!!!!"

"That was easier than I thought it'd be, now spill it."

She removes her sword and listens to him explain.

"They are heading back to the Capital of Troy..."

"By land or by sea?" she asks.

"By land."

Because they are on foot, there’s only one route north to reach the Capital, and that is through the southern Trojan city of Tronoble.

"Wasn't that easy enough? We're finished here."

She walks away and the man asks her, "So what are you going to do to me?"

Rain turns and responds, "Me? I'm not going to do anything to you."

He sighs in relief until she says,

"But my men are a different story."

"W-What!?"

The surrounding men all pull out their swords and impale him to the tree, killing him on the spot. Dice, after witnessing all this is utterly mortified at Rain's actions.

He thinks to himself, (How can she do these things!? This isn't the Rain that I know, it's like she's a completely different person!) He falls to his knees and all of the sudden the familiar voice of the snake surfaces in his head.

"This personality of hers has always been there my fair Prince. You must appease to what she truly is, otherwise you will never have her."

"But... this isn't the girl I fell in love with."

"How so? Is that not her standing in front of you? She is the same as ever, but you have been too blind to see it, and that is why she doesn't love you in return."

Dice puts his hands on his head and squeezes his hair. "T-That's why she treats me so coldly?"

The snake's voice seems to hypnotize the young Prince, sending him into some kind of trance.

Dice smiles cynically and answers, "I ACCEPT!!!"

Rain is alone in the darkness of the deep forest and she is laughing somewhat hysterically to herself. The hate for Ash and Zurvick is growing and is beginning to weigh heavier and heavier in her chest.

"Hahahaha the King of Troy killed my father! The two of them used to be close friends, what kind of shitty man assassinates his friend!? Hahahaha this is great!"

She can barely see a few feet in front of her but is reveling with the darkened silhouettes of the trees as her only audience.

"Things are going so much more smoothly than I'd ever imagined!"

With a deep calming breath, she lifts her right sleeve that normally hangs to her fingertips; she points her arm upwards and smiles while looking at the back of her hand.

With a wide grin she says, "I must say snake... you are indeed working miracles for me."

On the back of her hand, a tattoo of a pentagram.
