High School DxD: Uniquely Romanised Terms

Like many other fantasy Light Novel Series, the original High School DxD light novels feature unique romanizations for many of the series' unique terms. This almost always consists of Kanji Combinations that describe the item in question. This page might appear a bit messy due to the insane amounts of terms that fit in this category. This page is simply here for reference, and to retain this part of Ishibumi's writing without messing with the entire novel translation, so please, in the name of the Three Factions, do not put these in the translations.

Key Terminology

Evil Pieces - Written (悪魔の駒イーヴィル・ピース, Akuma no Koma (Īviru Pīsu), lit. Devil's Pieces).

• King - Written (王キング, Ō (Kingu), lit. King).
• Queen - Written (女王クイーン, Joō (Kuīn), lit. Queen).

Longinus

Boosted Gear - Written (赤龍帝の籠手ブーステッド･ギア, Sekiryūtei no Kote (Būsuteddo Gia), lit. Red Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet). Allows the user to double their power every ten seconds. Wielded by Hyoudou Issei.

• Boosted Gear Gift - Written (赤龍帝からの贈り物ブーステッド・ギア・ギフト, Sekiryūtei kara Okurimono (Būsuteddo Gia Gifuto), lit. Gift from the Red Dragon Emperor). The current and default form of the Boosted Gear. Grants the ability to transfer power from the user to their comrades and vice versa.
• Balance Breaker: Boosted Gear Scale Mail - Written (赤龍帝の鎧ブーステッド・ギア・スケイルメイル, Sekiryūtei no Yoroi (Būsuteddo Gia Sukeiru Meiru), lit. Red Dragon Emperor's Armour). The upgraded form of Boosted Gear. Allows the user to double their power without the 10-second time limit.
• Altered Version: Dividing Gear - Written (白龍皇の籠手ディバイディング・ギア, Hakuryūkō no Kote (Dibaidingu Gia), lit. White Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet). The Boosted Gear Version of Divine Dividing. Has the same powers as that Sacred Gear.

Divine Dividing - Written (白龍皇の光翼ディバイン・ディバイディング, Hakuryūkō no Kōyoku (Dibain Dibaidingu), lit. White Dragon Emperor's Light Wings). Allows the user to halve their opponent's power and add it to their own every ten seconds. Wielded by Vali Lucifer.

• Balance Breaker: Divine Dividing Scale Mail - Written (白龍皇の鎧ディバイン・ディバイディング・スケイルメイル, Hakuryūkō no Yoroi (Dibain Dibaidingu Sukeiru Meiru), lit. White Dragon Emperor's Armour). The upgraded form of Divine Dividing. Allows the user to halve their opponent's power and add it to their own without the 10-second time limit.

Others

Twice Critical - Written (龍の手トゥワイス・クリティカル, Ryū no Te (Twaisu Kuritikaru), lit. Hand of the Dragon). Allows the user to double their power for a certain amount of time. Raynare initially believes this is Issei's Sacred Gear.

Sword Birth - Written (魔剣創造ソード・バース, Maken Sōzō (Sōdo Bāsu), lit. Demonic Sword Creation). Allows the user to create any kind of Demonic Sword. Wielded by Kiba Yuuto.

• Holy Eraser- Written (光喰剣ホーリー・イレイザー, Kōshokken (Hōrī Ireisā), lit. Light-Eating Sword). A Demonic Sword that devours holy energy.
• Flame Delete- Written (炎凍剣フレイム・デリート, Entōken (Fureimu Derīto), lit. Flame-Freezing Sword). A Demonic Sword that extinguishes fire.
• Repression Calm- Written (風凪剣リプレッション・カーム, Fūnagiken (Ripuresshon Kāmu), lit. Wind-Calming Sword). A Demonic Sword that absorbs wind.
  • Balance Breaker: Sword of Betrayer - Written (双覇の聖魔剣ソード・オブ・ビトレイヤー, Sōhaku no Seimaken (Sōdo obu Bitoreiyā), lit. Holy Demonic Sword of Twin Supremacy). The upgraded form of Sword Birth. A Holy Demonic Sword that is strong against other devils.

Twilight Healing - Written (聖母の微笑トワイライト・ヒーリング, Seibo no Hishō (Towairaito Hīringu), lit. Smile of the Holy Mother). Allows the user to heal anyone, but cannot repair too severe injuries. Wielded by Asia Argento.

Absorption Line - Written (黒い龍脈アブソー プション・ライン, Kuroi Ryūmyaku (Absōrpushon Rain), lit. Black Dragon's Pulse). One of Vritra's Sacred Gears. Allows the user to produce multiple lines that can be used to restrain and suck the power of beings or objects they're connected to. Wielded by Saji Genshirou.

Forbidden Balor View - Written (停止世界の邪眼フォービドゥン・バロール・ビュー, Teishi Sekai No Jagan (Fōbidun Barōru Byū), lit. Evil Eyes of The Stopped World). Allows the user to momentarily stop the time of anything within their line of sight. Wielded by Gasper Vladi.

Mirror Alice - Written (追憶の鏡ミラー・アリス, Tsuioku no Kagami (Mirā Arisu), lit. Mirror of Recollection). Allows the user to create a huge mrror that reflects double damage at tha attacker, but has to be recharged. Wielded by Shinra Tsubaki.

Down Fall Dragon Spear - Written (墮天龍の閃光槍ダウン・フォール・ドラゴン・スピア, Datenryū no Senkōyari (Daun Fōru Doragon Supia), lit. Fallen Dragon's Flash Spear).
