===Chapter 1===
In the year 2033, Los Angeles, CA is currently under civil unrest. As an engineer and director of an engineering industry called the Trad Corporation, I recently developed a product called the Perceiver. The purpose of the Trad Corporation is to make people’s lives easier and safer with advanced technology. People wear my product which is considered to be ‘stylish’ just as they would wear a pair of glasses. People would use this product throughout their daily lives. The Perceiver transmits external information to the user very efficiently through advanced infrared sensors and a quantum processor. This processer is revolutionary since information has never been transferred so efficiently before. It will easily transmit information to anyone wearing it through the lens without even lifting a finger. This can also warn people if an object is going their way very fast. With its multimedia system, watching movies and sending messages directly from the brain could never be easier. I decided to test out my new technology in Los Angeles, CA because it is a city that is composed of diverse groups of people. In this way, I can accumulate data that will allow my product to be targeted to the rest of the world. However, the tests are not going as I expected. I want to make great use of this technology, but it seems like the people in Los Angeles are using it for their own interests.
I met up with an engineer from Los Angeles named George who would like to work with me to solve the problem of people using the technology immorally.  People are taking advantage of the technology to deceive, gossip, and steal others’ personal information. This is terrible. As much as I dislike the idea, I must find a way to limit the Perceiver in order to disable immoral practices by creating a new operating system for the Perceiver. By creating a new improved operating system, this will give limited access to the user by using a system that checks the user’s way of using the Perceiver.
The next morning, I received a message on the Perceiver from George inviting me to lunch where I will be able to discuss matters regarding the Perceiver’s operating system. It is especially windy in downtown L.A. so it was a difficult drive to the restaurant. This caused me to be late because there were many roadblocks since many trees fell down.  I entered the restaurant and found George who was wearing a black trench coat. I was not surprised to see that he was wearing a Perceiver, but I felt a sense of accomplishment seeing another engineer use my product. He gave me a confirming look when I approached him and smiled using one side of his mouth. I apologized for being late but he cut me off midway through my apology,
“I added a new stylish look to the Perceiver! Look!,” George rejoiced.
He took off the Perceiver and handed it to me. Apparently, it did not look any different from the way I designed it. Then he said, “You won’t realize it, but I changed the metal into carbon fiber to make it lighter.”
The Perceiver has already been very light so it did not feel any lighter than it was. I started wondering if he was fabricating ideas. Then he suggested,
“Let’s get to it! I would like to sign the contract for a portion of your company before we start updating the Perceiver!”
“What do you mean?” A contract is not required. You stated that we should just work on improving the operating system in order to prevent users from using the product in immoral manners,” I responded.
“Look. This is my job. I do not have time to solve all these petty problems of society. People could do whatever they want with technology for all I care! I want at least ten percent of the corporation’s share,” he blunted.
I am astonished by what he just said. I really want to solve this problem.
“Alright, let’s make a deal. We’ll work on this project together. I just really want to solve this problem. You will get only five percent of the corporation’s profits,” I said.
He immediately agreed, to my surprise.  I would seem like a fool to make such a decision to even give him five percent of the corporation’s profits. However, I want to grasp any chance in improving my product to benefit society. That is my priority. I logged into my Perceiver’s account database to give George administrative powers in the company.

===Chapter 2===
The following week, George and I started working on changing the operating system for the Perceiver. We hit an obstacle where we could not figure out how to create a system where one could not bypass the original operating system. This meant that it was nearly impossible to limit what the Perceiver could do because people could always hack the Perceiver in order to do whatever they want with it. Giving limited user access to a Perceiver would only act as a small barrier which will do nothing in the long run. I let out a great big sigh.
“I just wanted to make the society a safer place for everyone. Apparently, it has backfired on me. The Perceiver just makes crimes easier to commit,” I confessed to George.
“You know… It is impossible to stop crime. I actually really don’t understand why you are trying so hard to make this world a perfect place,” George replied bitterly.
“No!  There must be a way to stop all this nonsense! I will definitely not give up on using my technology to make the world a better place!” I demanded.
At that point, George turned his head away from me and giggled. A part of me is starting to resent George for the way he thinks about this world.
The next day, I drove home from my company after a long day’s work on the Perceiver. I realized that I have not visited the bank for quite some time. I drove to the Bank of Los Angeles, which in the past decade, has increased its security exponentially due to the economic collapse of 2015. In most cases, in order to withdraw money from the Bank of Los Angeles, the reason for withdrawal must be stated before the money is released to the patron. Afterward, the money will be tracked in order to determine whether the transactions made with that money corresponds with the “reason for withdrawal” statement aforementioned. However, since I am the owner of one of the largest corporations in the United States, I have the privilege to withdraw money whenever it is needed, without going through such security.
The sky was cloudy, yet the air was hot. The moment I arrived at the bank, I procured a bizarre feeling. I became nervous. I did not have time to visit the bank since I began working on updating the Perceiver. I went to the outdoors ATM to check my balance. I put my finger on a holographic screen where the screen took me to my account options. I pressed on my account balance. Then another screen popped up. My heart sank as I looked at the numbers that showed.
Account Balance: $ 0.00 USD
What?! I have no money? I went back to my account options and pressed on “Trad Corporation Account Details.”
Another message popped up saying that my account is no longer available. Then I realized, I have been hacked somehow. Somewhere, somehow, someone managed to hack into my bank account.
===Chapter 3===
The first thing I thought about was: how can I continue to work on the project with no money? How is this possible when there is so much security at the Bank of Los Angeles?  I immediately called George to tell him about company’s balance through the Perceiver. The call immediately went to voicemail and I was notified that his Perceiver was shut off. Then it hit me. I made a huge mistake. I was so caught up on updating the Perceiver that I forgot about the administrative functions that I gave George. Even though I did not give him full administrative powers, he still had sufficient access to hack me. I went on my Perceiver and hacked back into the Trad Corporation’s database where I looked at George’s account. Everything in his account was no longer available. However, he left a message in his inbox.
“You fool. You believe you can change the world. You have no idea what you’re dealing with. I can’t believe you are dumb enough to leave your fingerprints on my Perceiver which allowed me to easily hack into your company’s database and bank account.”
I was baffled. I absolutely could not believe what just happened. I have been cheated by my very own creation! I have been trying to prevent others from committing crimes, yet I became the victim of crime. I lost millions of dollars. I lost the company I have founded and built for the last 18 years. Now, I am left with nothing. I collapsed to the ground realizing that everything I have worked for fell apart in a mere moment. Then I heard a small rumbling from a distance. The sound got louder and louder. That’s when I realized that an earthquake was occurring. My day could not have been any worse.  I got up and started running for my life, forgetting about the money that I had lost.  At that moment, I thought to myself: everything will fall down, only to be rebuilt into something better.
