「ふざけんなっ~!」
Probably more like "Don't mess with me!" instead of "IDIOT!"
I would probably think that he's crazy, or got infected by some horrible radiance
I changed this into "I would probably think that his brain had been infected by some virus, or had been addled by poisonous waves." Too lazy to type out the original Japanese, so I just literally translated Kyon's original metaphor.

Only appear in Fiction?
However, it is common knowledge that these things only appear in fiction novels.
This seems to be too limiting, after all, Aliens, Espers and time-travellers appear in films, manga and even paintings.
The next sentence then refers to reality. If it was limited to books, the that should be changed to non-fiction, but deleting the word novel, makes the two read better.
