日is day, 太陽 is sun. but in that sentence case using sun is a better choice--RikiNutcase (talk) 01:23, 28 March 2013 (CDT) I've been taught that the two are synonyms though, except 太陽 is more specific (i.e in Astronomy). 日 can also refer to the sun when used more casually which is how Shidou was describing his surroundings then. --Daylighter 22:20, 28 March 2013 (GMT + 8:00)
