Afterword[edit]

That was Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon X-B. A lot happened and a lot of information was provided this time, but it is thanks to all of you that I could write this far. Thank you so much.

The Battle of Yamazaki was touched on in this story. Researching that one is interesting because part of it lead into the later Battle of Shizugatake. It was mostly a short-term Hashiba vs. Akechi battle, but when looking back at it from Shizugatake, it has a lot of the same participants, it also involves the defeat of important Oda clan figures, and it also acts as a justification for absorbing the Oda clan. If you think of it as proving that the important members of the Oda clan couldn’t stand up to Hashiba individually, you can see why Shibata and the others, who were in a similar position to Akechi, were so cautious of Hashiba. The infrastructure and laws weren’t very developed back then and it was a period of constant suspicion, so I think it may have actually been Hashiba who realized he had to make up his mind to act.

While we divide everything up into individual battles when looking back at it now, I feel like the people back then would have seen the atmosphere at the start of Shizugatake as something like the Battle of Yamazaki happening all over again.

Information traveled slow back then, so I feel like the people living through it all would have viewed everything very differently than we do now.

Anyway, time for the chat.

“Tell me some awful story from your school days.”

“In elementary school, I saw the girls changing and got stabbed by a compass.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“So, we had a weird rule where, after swimming in the pool, the boys would change in the pool locker room and the girls would change in our classroom. I forgot all about it and just threw the door open, but we had had math class before that and we had been using those things to draw shapes. A girl at the edge of the class noticed me, screamed, and suddenly stabbed me in the chest. We found out it went in about 3cm and was actually really dangerous, but when the other girls noticed me, they screamed. When they saw me collapse with a compass stabbed into my chest, everyone screamed and it was this big panic. I was confused and couldn’t move and had fallen down, but when the students in the hallway noticed me, they screamed too. But in the end I got blamed for it all.”

“Because it was your fault.”

Now, my work background music this time was sasakure.UK’s ALONE to ALONE. It’s a great song to listen to at night. But…

“Who was dealing with the most?”

Let’s leave it at that. Now, there is a lot happening, but wait a bit for Part C.
