Eveonder Maelstrom of the One Manga Forums... other than a wayward DV account that doesn't belong to me, the name Eveonder is unique and mine alone.

I'm a Chinese guy living in North America. I totally forgot my Chinese due immigration at a young age and lack of use. I am working to pick up Chinese again.

Nothing to see here. It's not a project, just me practicing. Done rather literally, liberally and roughly.

Katcha. Katdon. The white rocking chair on the veranda issues a creaking sound. Gentle late autumn sunlight filtered through the treetops to reach the ground. A light breeze softly blew across the surface of a distant lake. With her head nestled against my lap, she was sound asleep. A golden time of tranquility was passed like so. Katcha. Katdon. I rocked the chair while stroking her chestnut hair. She had fallen asleep and yet she continued to smile. There were many amusing elves in the frontyard. The pot cooking beef soup in the kitchen also gave off a puffing sound. If only the world would always remain this wonderful. But such a wish is impossible, I understand that very well. Katcha. Katdon. The chair's legs creaked, and the sand of the hourglass continued to fall. As if to resist, I wanted to pull the girl on my lap closer to myself. However, my two hands grasp at only empty air. I abruptly widened my eyes, the girl that leaned on me just a moment ago had suddenly disappeared. I quickly got up from the chair to look around. Like the curtain of a stage, the sunset was unceasingly dense. The darkness approached incessantly and transformed the forest into a field of black. Surrounded icy winds, I stood alone shouting her name. But there was no reply. In neither the front yard where the elves played nor the kitchen in the back, could her figure be found. Before I realized, darkness had already wrapped itself around the entire house. All the walls and furniture of the house became like paper props, they toppled over-pata pata-and disappeared. Katcha. Katdon. Katcha. Katdon. I shut my eyes, plugged my ears, and once more with my might shouted her name.

The resulting sound was so vivid and resounding that it caused me to open my eyes. Whether the shout existed within my dream or perhaps happened in reality, I could no longer tell. Lying in bed, I close my eyes hoping only to return to the start of my dream, after a while, I abandoned that hope and slowly opened eyes. What entered my sight was a room with white electronic boards embedded into hard walls. A soft bed, blankets, mattresses, as well as a needle in my wrist. I lifted my upper body and looked around. The room was six tatami big paved with rarely seen natural wood flooring. For furniture, there was only the computer, hard drive and router, and the bed I was sitting on, for a total of three articles. Between the vertical routers, there was an old fashioned helmet. The helmet was called "NERvGear", the sleep based VR interface that had imprisoned me in virtual reality for two years. After a long period of difficult struggle, I was finally liberated from that machine, once again able to see, feel, and touch the real world. Yes, I have returned. However, the one who I fought together and shared feelings with, she... My heart ached, I look away from the NERvGear and stood up. I checked my reflection in the mirror on the wall across from my bed. The electronic board integrated into the wall, showed the current date and time. January 19, 2025, Sunday. 7:15AM. It's been two month since my return but I am still not used to how everything feels. Even though the appearance of the former swordsman and the current Kirigaya Kazuto are essentially the same, but lost weight has not yet been recovered. And the body under the T-shirt was exceedingly frail. Suddenly realizing through my reflection that a teardrop was running down my cheek, I wiped it away with my right hand. "I have completely turned into a weeping ghost..., Asuna." Mumbling to myself, I made my way to the room's southern window. Using both hands, I pulled open the curtains and the winter sun that shone with dazzling sunshine dyed my room in light yellow.
