Postscript to Volume 10.5

I'm Tsukiji. This is a new volume of Kempf, also a collection of short stories. The short story collections up to this point are still interconnected, with the stories linked. This one is separate, so chapter numbers become episode numbers. The plan is to write two more volumes of Kämpfer and then finish. The next volume will begin with a return to the old home of Sakura. The volume after that will likely follow. If the next volume is finished, the final volume will become a side story. In any case, this series will end next spring.

Kämpfer is written from the first-person perspective of the "male protagonist," but this time a few parts use a third-person perspective. Generally, using a first-person perspective is more convenient for writing psychological descriptions, but its drawback is that it can't cover other characters as well. And I unexpectedly enjoyed writing about the supporting characters, so I decided to write a lot about things other than the "male protagonist."

Kämpfer is my first novel written in the first person. I experimented a bit, but it's definitely easier to write in the third person, which I'm more comfortable with. Even the "male protagonist's" monologues are quite amusing; I feel really glad I've kept going. The gaps between the events unfolding before my eyes and the characters' inner thoughts have become comedic. Utilizing these elements is also very new to me.

This novel begins with the "male protagonist's" astonishment after his transformation. I've mixed in third-person perspectives throughout the story, and I plan to continue writing in that style until the end. Please continue to support me. Thank you.

   August 2009,

   Tsukiji Toshihiko
