Kämpfer:Volume 2 Afterword
Postscript to Volume Two[edit]
Postscript
This is Tsukiji. Kämpfer has already published its second volume, hooray!
In the last volume, I made Natsuru a girl right from the very first line, and this time I'll let him enjoy being a girl to the fullest, and I've even added the setting that he might become a girl at any time—he can become a girl whenever he wants. I'm not being kind enough to give him such a treat, hehehe.
Moreover, this time I made the protagonist's experiences even more unfortunate than in the first volume. First, there's the unusual environment, then a strange class and strange classmates, an enemy who wants to kill him, a student council president hiding in the shadows, and a partner who doesn't think about anything. That doesn't seem enough; wouldn't it be better if he were in debt?
I haven't thought that much about his happiness; as long as he's popular with girls, that's enough, more than enough.
I mentioned before that I would increase his classmates, and this time I've indeed increased quite a few. Although I don't have specific models for the girls, I borrowed a few friends for reference. I didn't know such a strange guy in high school. It would be strange to have someone with a similar personality around me. As for money, it's actually quite similar to the description in the book.
The characters are a mix of traits from people I know, probably a 10:1 ratio of imagination to reality, but even so, they're quite different from the real people. Unintentional little gestures or slightly odd names make them feel more approachable. Humans may look similar, but everyone's personality is actually quite different, I mean it.
Speaking of which, it's impossible to "wake up as a girl" in real life, but I do know a guy who likes skirts, and I mean, he wears skirts. His famous line is "I'm wearing my favorite skirt today—", by the way, he's not Scottish.
I hope one day Natsuru can say, "I can't find the skirt I bought yesterday," I think skirts would suit him perfectly.
See you next time then.

← Illustrator's note:
I've always thought these two are a super great duo—
Natsuru's transformed expressions and movements are really hard to draw (.ω.) But I'll do my best.
