Afterword[edit]

Hello, this is Iwai Kyouhei.

So it's summer.

During the time I'm writing this afterword it's already gotten hot. How hotter will it get when they sell this book…? This year's heat wave will probably break records.

Every year, I hang out with my friends in summer.

Continuing from the previous year where I was on an overseas trip, I'm already planning going somewhere this year's summer. Having fun is not limited only to summer, but because I've been to a lot of trips since Bon Festival and New Years I'm not feeling as excited.

In the summer you go wakeboarding and in the winter you go snowboarding, but this is where the problems start. No, rather than start, it's something that should happen.

Due to lack of exercise I lack stamina.

Every time the seasons change and I do exactly the same as the previous year, I come to realize that my stamina decreases. Whatever shall I do?

I have the feeling this year's summer will be life-risking. I can't call it having fun anymore.

To increase my chances of surviving even a bit, I think of doing a bit of exercise.

All of you have fun too and watch out for yourselves.

…Was the afterword a place for the writer to report their recent circumstances?

Since I'm bad at writing sentences without any theme, I will now discuss the book as is usual.

Thanks to the readers, Mushi Uta Bug also reached its 4th volume.

It's made of three chapters serialized in The Sneaker, as well as a new one.

Talking about this book's stories, we start with "The Tower Imprisoning Dreams".

It's about Daisuke and Ena's date.

Daisuke, who is surprisingly weak against pressure, and Ena, who pressures him. A monitor target and a target of interest.

Rather than directly being friends, there's an indirect, vague sense of distance between the two. Have they changed their outlook about each other a bit by spending time together?

No matter what anyone says, they're a strangely serious ship.

About "The Dream-Carrying Ark".

A Mushitsuki auction made by a secret club.

Twin Mushitsuki, party on a ship, illegal auction—while being involved in these events, one of the secrets about Hanashiro Mari was revealed.

Although there were many Mushitsuki in this story, I believe that the one in the eye of the storm this time is definitely the morpho butterfly. It would suck you in with an intense wind in no time, draw you away, and toss you about without you being powerless to resist.

That is the moment when the victims glance inside the typhoon.

About "The Dream-Protecting Magician".

This was the chapter in The Sneaker's special Mushi Uta feature.

This is the first time the story is presented from the point of view of a third party during the serialization and not an original story.

Arisu experiences the life of a Mushitsuki who wanted to become a magician.

This incident would become the turning point of the series, but its effects would have to wait for the next volume.

About "The Dream-Connecting Warmth".

A new story.

An episode about a misanthropic tool maker sucked in by the morpho butterfly.

I've wanted to write about a Mushitsuki who can create with their ability and about Harukiyo's comrades since a while back. Even I, the writer, was surprised to see them being written in the Bug series.

Even someone working behind the scenes can be strong if they're serious.

And now for thanks.

Since the serialization keeps going, I remain in the care of the editorial department and my supervisor Yamaguchi-san. Thank you for being patient with me despite all the troubles I'm causing to your schedule.

By arranging the special feature, I was also helped a lot by llo-san, who was in charge of illustrations. Thank you very much.

And I am also grateful to you, the readers, from the bottom of my heart.

By continuing the serialization, I have received many of your impressions. I love the postcards included among the questionnaires of The Sneaker. Seeing my characters having fun even not by my hands is fun.

Please keep following the series.
