"Pretty Good" vs "Pretty Well"[edit]

This chapter contains the sentence: "As for my grades, I did pretty good in English, and everything else was right around the school average."
The grammatically correct sentence would be: "As for my grades, I did pretty well in English, and everything else was right around the school average.."
But an average high schooler, even though most know "well" is the right way to say it, says "pretty good" more often than not. Even though it's wrong, "pretty good" is pretty much accepted in spoken English, and the way this book is written is like Kodaka is saying these things, do it's probably alright to leave this sentence as it is.
For example, the sentence immediately following this one ("Basically, not much of a change from my grades at my previous schools.") is grammatically incorrect as well. It does not even have a subject. But there is no need to change it because it would be accepted in spoken English and matches the way the book is written.

Gramatically it may be so, since "he" did well, but nowdays teenagers don't always use perfect and polite speech, it isn't rare to hear "yeah i did pretty good" between friends, thus, imho it should stay as "pretty good". --Krytyk 07:32, 3 March 2012 (CST)

That's what I was thinking too, which is why I left it as it was. I wrote this to explain why. (Also, it's "nowadays") --Dan. 08:36, 3 March 2012 (CST)
