Brief Intro

Hello there. I am just a roaming proofreader and editor for Toaru Majutsu no Index. I have studied Japanese for a few years so I am probably at Kindergarten level when it comes to speaking and understanding. Not enough to actually translate light novels but enough to compare translations with the original Japanese text and speech.

Current To Do List

• Fix up terminology in Index Volumes 1-SS1 (novels not translated by js06) starting from Volume 1 Prologue.

Finished working on translating terms in the Toaru Majutsu no Index no Subete Encyclopedia Glossary.

URGENT: Missing pages 170 and 174 of Subete. Anyone who has HQ scans of these pages please contact me.

LQ Scan of Page 174 found. Still missing page 170.

• Fix up Notes Sections across Index Volumes (so that there arent any random translator's notes in the actual translated text).
• Then expand the notes sections with base kanji for certain terminology.

Progress

Now that I have finished translating what I can of the Subete Encyclopedia Glossary, I am essentially ready to start fixing up the earlier Index volumes.

Here's how I will go about doing it...

1) Compile a list of volume specific questions regarding translations.

2) Send said questions to js06 and wait for an eventual response.

3) Using the answers and my custom glossaries references, begin editing the volume, part-by-part.

• Repeat the process for the next volume.

As js06 will be busy working on Volume NT8, I will wait until the translation for that volume is completed before sending my questions. I promised I wouldn't bother js06 while the translation was ongoing.

• Volumes 1-2 will function as a trial. I will be waiting for feedback on my edits regarding these two volumes before continuing.

UPDATE: This probably needed an update since I have been inactive for a while. I am currently busy with real world issues and I wont be able to work on the volumes until late November. But I WILL get to it.

My Long Run Focus

While TAMNI stands as the biggest translation project on Baka-Tsuki, it is by no means perfect. Attention to detail has always been one of my strong points so I will try and fix the things that the other editors have missed. My focus will be on correct grammar and spelling in British English, correct use of terminology, looking for any missing details in earlier translations, revamping the notes sections and the boring task of standardising the presentation format accross all of the light novel translations.

Calendar Project

I also have a pet project I am working on called A Certain Unified Calendar. It tries to organise all of the events which have occurred in the TAMNI and TAKNR collective franchise into chronological order and place them onto a calendar. I am currently planning the way in which I shall present the project's notes pages and thinking up a way to get feedback on the calendar from the fanbase. However, I am currently busy with studies right now so don't expect anything soon. The calendar's next update will be next year during the 10 year anniversary for TAMNI.
