I tried looking for references but couldn't find any: the section in the 27,754th time - where Hoshino is kneeling in front of Maria and starts talking in a "polite manner." Is that a reference to a classic novel or something? Maybe I'm getting it confused with Wuthering Heights and Heathcliffe or something. Just wanted to make sure so as to better explain the situation. :::: Ding-dong the nuisance is back. (^_^") I'm sorry I've been mulling this over for the last 3 hours along with another translator and we got nowhere, in a very slow manner (almost like our protagonists!).
: This part at the end of 27,754 (2) has got me really stumped. "The ground becomes unstable and tastes sugary for some reason—not on the tongue, but on the skin." In context it kinda makes sense - I imagine them slowly falling into an abyss of pure white while feeling the remains of the environment on their skin - I suppose. :: Seems to me like "a white wave" wipes away the world and leaves everything white. The ground then turns all wobbly/soft like some sweet (= unstable. Anyways, next question is about this part in page 85 of the 2nd volume: "but her very facility is what I’m worried about if she... were to betray me." - what did you mean by facility? :: Don't worry about it, the English translation can also benefit from finding weak spots. :D "Facility" in this case refers to "skill", meaning that he fears her exceptional skills if she were to turn against him. In some cases, using the history to look up an older translation helps (in this case: "She had easily thought of effective plans as anticipated, but exactly because of that I'd be afraid if she... betrayed me.")
