Я уже прежде держал Стратокастер Мафую в своих руках, но тогда еще не подозревал о существовании надписи. Всё потому, что текст был вырезан во внутренней части деки, и его невозможно обнаружить, пока не открутишь шурупы.

<!--Mafuyu said that during one of our band practices. At that time, we were already done with our first ever live performance, and our summer holidays were coming to an end. I was having an active discussion with Kagurazaka-senpai about the topic of the effect units as well as the timbres. As she listened to our conversation, Mafuyu prodded my back with the neck of her guitar, though I had no idea why she was putting on an unhappy expression on her face.-->
Мафую сказала это во время репетиции нашей группы. К тому времени мы уже отыграли наше самое первое выступление вживую, и летние каникулы подходили к концу. Я вел с Кагуразакой-сэмпай жаркий спор на тему педалей эффектов, а также звучания. Слушая нашу беседу, Мафую ткнула меня в спину грифом своей гитары, хотя я понятия не имел, почему на её лице такое несчастное выражение.

– … То есть, ты хочешь модифицировать свою гитару? Или ты имеешь в виду, что хочешь использовать какую-нибудь примочку?

– Я действительно не разбираюсь в этом. Просто помоги мне с доработкой, Наоми.

У меня не хватит смелости для работы над антиквариатом стоимостью в три миллиона йен, но я всё же снял заднюю крышку и осмотрел внутренности. И тогда я заметил то, что находилось в квадратном вырезе позади звукоснимателя.

– … Это русский? – спросила Чиаки, просунув лицо посмотреть. <!--Chiaki asked as she stuck her face in to take a look. I see, it does look like the Cyrillic alphabet. Just then, Mafuyu snatched the guitar away from my hands.-->

И правда, похоже на кириллицу. Затем Мафую выдернула гитару из моих рук.

– Те-тебе нельзя смотреть.

– Э? По-почему?

– Закрой обратно! Тебя не должно волновать то, что внутри!

Почему она так взвилась? Я ведь все равно не смыслю в кириллице, верно?

– Мафую, а ты знала о тексте внутри твоей гитары? – задала вопрос Чиаки.

– Н-не знала.

<!--"Senpai should know how to read Russian, right? And you should have read lots of books written by Russians too."-->
– Сэмпай должна уметь читать по-русски, верно? И ты, должно быть, прочитала также множество книг, написанных русскими.

<!--"Russia is the country of revolutions, but if you think that's enough reason for me to know how to read nearly everything, then you are dead wrong!" was Senpai's answer.-->
– Россия – страна революций, но если ты думаешь, что этого достаточно, чтобы читать что угодно, то ты смертельно ошибаешься! – дала ответ сэмпай.

<!--Mafuyu snatched the screwdriver away from me. She then closed the cover and attempted to put the screws back into the place. However, as her right fingers were still unable to move much, she was finding it hard to do so. I could no longer watch her like this, so I helped her with the task.-->
Мафую вырвала у меня отвертку. Затем она приложила крышку и попыталась закрутить шурупы на место. Но, так как пальцы на её правой руке все еще были недостаточно подвижны, ей было трудно с этим справиться. Я не мог больше смотреть на её мучения, поэтому помог ей с задачей.

<!--"What's carved on it?" I tried asking her. Mafuyu took the restored guitar from my hands and hugged it tightly, as though she was trying to stuff the guitar into her body. After some deliberation, she said softly,-->
– Что там нацарапано? – попытался я спросить у неё. 

Мафую взяла у меня из рук восстановленную гитару и крепко её обняла, как будто пыталась впечатать её в свое тело. После некоторых раздумий она мягко произнесла:

– Так кто-то отдал тебе эту гитару… 

Чиаки нежно коснулась грифа.

– Этот человек должен быть по-настоящему щедрым, если отдал тебе такой хороший экземпляр.

– Он сказал, что новичку лучше всего пользоваться хорошим инструментом с самого начала…

<!--"I thought Comrade Ebisawa learned the guitar all by herself. So you actually had someone to teach you...... how's the person like?"-->
– Я думала, что товарищ Эбисава училась игре сама. Так у тебя действительно был учитель… каков он?

– Э? Э-э…

I too thought that she learned the guitar on her own...... but then again, what's the reason for Mafuyu to start learning the guitar? For a professional pianist who was surrounded by classical music ever since she was born, something incredible must have happened for her to suddenly pick up the electric guitar.-->
В итоге Мафую ничего толком не объяснила, ограничившись недомолвками. Я тоже думал, что она сама освоила гитару… но с другой стороны, что явилось причиной для Мафую, чтобы учиться игре на гитаре? Профессиональный пианист, окруженный классической музыкой с самого рождения, должен был столкнуться с чем-то невероятным, чтобы ни с того ни с сего взяться за электрогитару.

– Научи меня пользоваться педалями эффектов. Я надеюсь, что звучание моей игры станет таким же насыщенным, как у Кёко к нашему следующему выступлению.

Вообще-то мне больше нравился изысканный звук гитары Мафую, идущий прямиком из усилителя без всяких «примочек»… Я не думаю, что есть нужда ей равняться на сэмпай в этом деле, верно? К тому же, наше выступление вживую состоялось совсем недавно.

– Итак, когда же наш следующий концерт? Я хочу выступить вновь как можно скорее!

Боже, Чиаки тоже туда же?! Сэмпай обняла Чиаки и Мафую за плечи, словно просила их не торопиться.

– Так как групп, которые пригласили бы нас поиграть вместе, не слишком много, наше следующее выступление состоится во время проведения школьного фестиваля.

– Это будет первый раз, когда мы выступим сами по себе, так что трехмесячная подготовка должна быть самый раз.

– Я не думал, что услышу это от того самого человека, который нежданно-негаданно договорился о нашем участии в живом концерте за три недели до него! – я не мог не подколоть её.

<!--"Mmm..... at the initial stages, everyone would have to row their oars with a small but quick motion, but that changes after the boat has accelerated to a certain speed. Then, they would row their oars with a large but slow motion."-->
– М-м-м… вначале все гребут с помощью весел короткими, но быстрыми движениями, однако всё меняется, когда лодка набирает определенную скорость. Потом они делают большие, но неторопливые гребки.

– Чего?

– То же относится к группе!

<!--This person here is saying some nice-sounding stuff to trick everyone again. But there is no longer any chance of a victory the moment the thought, 'Ah, so that's how it is' flashed past my mind. And so...... I could only agree to whatever she had said. Damn it!-->
Эта персона говорит много красивых слов, чтобы опять всех надуть. Но ни единого шанса на победу не осталось в тот момент, когда мысль: «А, вот оно что», – промелькнула у меня в голове. Поэтому… я мог лишь только согласиться, вне зависимости от сказанного ею. Черт!

– Мы уже пересекли рубеж и теперь лавируем на высоких скоростях.

<!--Senpai took the guitar that was standing at the other corner of the classroom and carried it on her shoulder. With her back facing us, she continued,-->
Сэмпай взяла гитару, которая находилась в другом углу комнаты и закинула её себе на плечо. Стоя к нам спиной, она продолжила:

<!--"But it's not good for us to only accelerate. Plenty of troublesome situations may occur before the arrival of the school's festival, so what we should be doing now is getting ourselves used to the feeling of rowing, and move forward in a steadfast manner."-->
– Но мало хорошего в том, чтобы просто ускоряться. Череда затруднительных ситуаций может возникнуть еще до школьного фестиваля, поэтому то, что мы должны сделать, так это привыкнуть к гребле и двигаться вперед в неизменной манере.

Сэмпай затем повертела головой вокруг и милым жестом оттопырила указательный палец.

– Это не о скорости, но о товариществе между нами четырьмя.

Чиаки кивнула незамедлительно. Что касается Мафую, она немного выждала, прежде чем молча сделать кивок.

There was probably nothing more chaotic than the oncoming three months, regardless of whether it's about my own personal matters or the things that had to do with the band.-->
Я припомнил эту самую сцену спустя значительное время… а сэмпай, должно быть, уже тогда имела какие-то предчувствия. В действительности, затруднений возникло много. Наверняка не было ничего более хаотичного, чем следующие три месяца, независимо от того, касалось ли это моей личной жизни или дел, связанных с группой.
