I just went ahead and translated the rest of the Japanese names of the chapters. I noticed a few chapters having different ordering comparing the the Web novel. The current chapter 16 should be the 19th chapter from the web novel since, the naming make sense with the chapter's contents (trying to be as spoiler-free as possible).
But the problem here lies in 'Black Headed Dog' chapter's contents (according to the web novel's version), which will be very weird without reading chapter 17-19 (preparation, armor, and hourglass) first. Although since the Light novel's version is different from the web novel's one, the contents might be slightly different(but both should be talking about Raphtaria's memory). With that said, what do you guys suggest we should do about this chapter('black headed dog')? Should I just translate according to the webnovel's flow, meaning: re-arranging 'Black Headed Dog' to ch 19?

::: I don't understand the controversy about any chapters/volumes of Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari. It states very clearly on the project page that: "There are differences between the light novel and web novel. The first four volumes follow more or less the progression in the web version, but start to really diverge in the fifth. These translations are based on the web novel." Is this not true? Has anyone asked Yoraikun where the source text actually came from? .... Yes, the covers are taken from the Light Novel, but nothing else is(?-ask the actual person that knows, don't speculate?) so remove the covers. Problem solved. - Concerned Anon, April 4th 2015, 11:37pm, EST

::::In my understanding, Baka-Tsuki is just being careful since the two licensed volumes have similar progress with the web novel even though the source for translation is the web version. Xigtus (talk) 01:49, 5 April 2015 (CDT)

:: Think of the web novel as less independant from the Light novel because in reality it is a rough draft of the storythat was published online and in most cases it is taken down when it gets a light novel. So technically Yen press owns rights to all versions of any novel they publish in the language it was licensed in and thus the web novel would still be a problem especially if it greatly resembles the novel to the point that any translations could be mistaken as plagerism from the official english translation. Even if it is not mis-labeled as plagerism I don't think that the translation would be able to continue on baka-tsuki without bringing them any trouble and would not be to surprised if the others were taken down due to DMCA.

I would advise that anyone with translations of any lisenced novel's tranlstions ongoing seperate it from any translations of unlicensed novels so that in the case that you get taken down the other translations can continue unhindered and you cause no harm to baka-tsuki by having a project which has a licensed english translation on your site. Also If your translations of said licensenced novel or it's web novel don't get taken down even better because people still get the translation you can continue to translate everything else without worry of it going down with the other translations and it would be easy just to delete the external site. If anyone really want I will set up a wordpress for the webnovel translations of any one project so that all the other translations are safe in the worst case scenario. "and in most cases it is taken down when it gets a light novel." - but not this case. In this case, the Web Novel is still freely available online, and again, in this case, the web novels aren't rough drafts, due to the drastic divergence in the story. - Anon

:Fair enough but who knows if it will be taken down in the future and it can't hurt to be careful. I was also talking quite generally on purpose because it can apply to a lot of WN the turn into light novels then get an official english translation in the future. Anyways I will admit if the story diverges and the WN is still available I'm sure that the translation of the WN will be fine for the time being. Also what I meant by rough draft is an earlier version, some stories have earlier versions that are later adapted and improved, as long as the core of the story is still the same you can't really say that it's completely seperate and even rough drafts will have some divergence and earlier drafts even more so. I would say a Web novel is the author giving out a raw form of his story and the light novel is the polished version so really the web novel is a rough draft of sorts, it's just one that has not undergone heavy editing. Even if the polished version diverges from the rough draft that just means that the author eliminated that part of the draft because either they did not like it or it was not up to par or maybe they had an even better idea.
All in all, the first point I can agree to but the second point is a little weak and definitely disputable.
Yascob99 (talk) 03:11, 6 April 2015 (CDT)

Maybe for most light novels, but in this case the story is VERY different. Even the first four books are pretty different, and the plot goes in a wildly different direction after that. And if it hasn't been taken in several years it's unlikely to be taken down anytime soon. I mean, the novel finished a while back, and it's still up.

Why not leave the Web Novel up, and take it down IF it's requested? The fact remains that the web novel and the light novel are two completely different series. - Anon

I was reading this thread, and decided to impliment Onizuka-Gto's wordsː "Mainly, we must mimic the web novel as close as possible and not include anything from the published novel version. "

Apparently, Volumes 1 and 2 and definitely dead, but nothing was said of 3 and 4. I pretty much dissolved those sections, and created new arcs. If those parts get deleted anyways though, I won't complain. All images I could find from the light novel in this entire project have been removed.

Also - since the Third Wave Arc also included two volume 2 chapters, I included those. If you want those removed, tell me on my talk page.

Anyone up translation side storys of that nice novel? Sadly we have here now only 'christmas one' while next 2 are left on their own. I'm not sure if you plan to change it or not - if not then maybe we should add links to outer sites like with Yari no Yuusha no Yarinaoshi?
