If you are quoting mutliple lines of dialogue being said by the same person, the standard accepted method is to start each line with a quotation mark but to leave off the closing quote on the previous line. For example:
"Here I am talking about something.
"Then I continue talking about somethng else."
That's just how things are supposed to be done in English. You'll find the same in any style guide. But this chapter is completely filled with violations of this rule. I find that it makes it difficult to read.
