(Did the Asakusa man ask Shizuka to help out, or is he already dead? Does she help every year due to a request he made before death, or does the text say that his former employees or people otherwise connected to him asked her to help out? There are two parts indicating he's already dead and one part indicating that he asked her to help out, so it may be worth rechecking that part to look for any difference of nuance.
