Planet Assignment 1
“Okay, great work, everyone!”

< I sent the god to take care of a planet, a messed-up planet with lots of killing and war going on. >
“But I didn’t doooo anythiiiing.

“Did that god manage to take care of it?”

“The world would have to be ending for you to do something, so I say that’s for the best.

< I don’t know, I just sent him like 30 seconds ago, he should be arriving on the planet soon. The god I sent isn’t normal, just his presence gives off this aura that makes humans terrified, like they can’t even move. They just freeze in place from the overwhelming fear. >

I opened a virtual camera window showing the god arriving on the planet, then I zoomed it in to get a better look at him.
“Anyway, I’ve learned several lessons. Socialization sure is hard.”

Suddenly, an aura burst out from that god’s body and spread in all directions. Just 0.1 seconds later, it covered the entire planet. The planet instantly went dark because of it. Every living thing there dropped and started screaming hysterically, completely unable to move. They all collapsed and were scattered everywhere.

Humans and animals lay there lifeless, everything on that planet died just from feeling the pressure of that god’s presence. Even rocks, buildings, robots that shouldn’t feel fear, basically anything that was never alive in the first place, somehow felt an overwhelming fear too. It doesn’t make any sense, it should be impossible, but that god really has a different kind of existence, not like other gods.
“Then let’s go to the arcade! That’s one way to socialize!”

How is it even possible that the effect of that god’s presence can make things that were never alive in the first place feel fear?
“Goofing off is all you ever think about…”

I mean, it’s possible, clearly. He can make even rocks, buildings, robots, basically anything that’s never been alive, feel fear.
“Oh, but the arcade does sound fun. We Norse gods love having fun, so I vote for that.

Since his job of taking care of the planet is done, I’m gonna bring him back. The planet looks completely dead now, inside and out. All life on it is gone, nothing’s left. Even things that were never alive somehow felt fear too. That god is seriously cool.
“I like the crane that can grab snacks and that one with the moving panels you knock stuff off of!”

Thanks, Shinsei.
“But what kind of games will we play?”

Hey, are you messing with me? I didn’t even do anything, and since when did I successfully take care of this planet? I haven’t even used my power yet.
“We could play air hockey. We can do doubles, which really helps get you fired up.

You don’t even need to use your power, that planet couldn’t even handle the pressure of your aura.
“Um, yes! I’ll join you as a fellow Sumeragi-kun fan!”

Virtual Realm Part 1
“I think I’ll team up with either Anne-chan or En-chan.”

"Hey AI, what is Divine Rank?"

"You dumb monkey, I’ve explained this over and over already."

"I forgot, hehe."
“Can you even…see the hockey puck?”

"Divine Rank is a level that shows how well someone can control ether. The levels go from World, Space, Heaven, Planet, Realm, Region, Country, Metropolis, City, Town, Village, House, Room, Hidden, and Empty. If someone dies, they’ll end up at the Empty level (0)."
“You just get used to your boobs blind spot!”

"What’s the difference between them?"
“That’s my Senpai! Everyone playing will have a straight down blind spot! How wonderful!”

"At the Empty level, someone becomes a unique being like a spirit, and they can still manipulate ether even at that level."
“Eh? I’m playing? W-well…I do appreciate…being invited.

"Can someone’s Divine Rank affect other people?"
“When we went to the Daiichi Department Store’s arcade before, they had Return of Ishtar and I was like ‘so this is it, huh?’, but wouldn’t it be weirdly recursive for us to play that?”

"Of course. For example, if you meet senpai, your physical strength, ether power, and authority will all get passively reduced. Your power will keep dropping until it becomes completely ineffective."
“Yes, that recently caught my attention too. How many games use me as the protagonist?”

"I’m gonna try it out on senpai!"
“If we don’t limit it to games and accept simple motifs, it has to be near limitless. And speaking of games, the Super Famicom comes out this November, meaning what’s commonly known as the Big Three will all be on sale. That will broaden what games are available in several ways.”

Boku runs toward senpai while shouting.

“With the increased expressive power of game consoles, the game worlds can show off a lot more different cultures.

"Senpai! The AI said my power will get passively reduced if I’m near you!"

“With the limited memory and small bit depth of the images, they could make the different lands look different, but designing the cultures and residents to look different was a challenge. So lowering that hurdle to creativity is a good thing. Some of the ‘flavor’ will be lost, but the ability to directly ‘feel’ the game world really makes this era seem like a new beginning.”

"That’s been the case for a long time. Didn’t you try attacking me before and fail?"

“Meanwhile, Japanese fantasy games get really chaotic. Especially with the gear being taken from all sorts of mythologies.”

"Yeah, but I wanna make sure one more time."

“That can’t be easy for the knowledge gods. Could they write the games off as a business expense?”

"Go ahead."

Boku punches senpai with his bare hands, follows it up with an ether attack, and finishes with an authority attack that can instantly kill someone.
“I honestly have no idea what any of you are talking about.

"See? I’m totally fine, right?"
“Well, anyway. The work background music this time was JUN SKY WALKER(S)’s Ashita ga Konakutemo. It’s a bit of a surprise, but when you listen carefully to the lyrics, it’s about accepting everything that has happened while eliminating your anxieties about the future. It’s a reassuring song.”

"The AI was right!"

"Our Divine Ranks are different. You’re at the Hidden level, while I’m above Hidden. So attacks from lower levels won’t affect me."

“This time, we will ask ‘what best represented the dream?’ Up next will be the terraforming and the end of summer break. Please continue to follow along.”
