I shouted with all my energy, and then lifted my fist up— and grabbed my 《Flame》.
I shouted with all my strength. I then raised my fist up and grabbed my «Flame».  


"«Blaze»!"


“《Blaze》!!”
Responding to the «word that carried strength», the «Flame» encompassed my entire body, burning wildly as if it was trying to incinerate me, then swirled around my arm like a snake, diffusing a bright light.


"Ku...!"


It responded to the 《word that carried strength》, then the 《Flame》 that was over my body going wild as if it was trying to burn me swirled around my arm like a snake, and then it gave of a light.
Because it was so bright, I wasn't able to keep my eyes open and——


“Ku……!”
Eventually the light disappeared. I moved my gaze to my arm, and was shocked by what I saw.


Because of its strong brightness, I wasn’t able to keep my eyes opened and———.
My «Flame» has turned into a «Shield».  


Eventually when the lights disappeared, I moved my gaze to my arm, and I was in shock.
"This... is my «Blaze»...?"


My 《Flame》 has turned into a 《Shield》.
"«Irregular». That's how I would put it."


“This……is my 《Blaze》……?”
The person who had been watching over me silently finally spoke.


“《Irregular》, that’s how I would put it.”
Devilish, or ominous.  


The person who had been watching over me silently since I said that word spoke.
These words came to my mind as I looked at the little girl in a gothic dress.

«Irregular»——there was only one reason for this girl to say that.  


A little girl wearing a gothic dress who made me think of those words.
Normally, a «Blaze» which was used to define the «Soul» would have been shaped into a weapon.

However, the thing which materialized on my arm, without a doubt, assumed the shape of a shield.  


Normally, 《Blaze》 was used to define the 《Soul》 that had shaped into a weapon.
The mass of metal was thick, heavy and hard, giving me the impression that it could definitely not be cracked or pierced.  


However, the thing which materialised onto my arm is no doubt had a shape of a protector.
(How ironic...)


The mass of metal that had some weight was thick and hard that it made me think it would definitely not be cracked or pierced through.
For a person like me who was not able to protect, giving birth to a «Shield», a symbol of protection...

Despite my memories of the past I could not return to——


For me who wasn’t able to protect to have attained a 《Shield》 which is symbol of protecting……
The girl in the black dress brought an end to my reminiscence.


Even though I had a flashback of the past which I can’t return to———.
"Now, go. The path that «Shield» will lead you to... I'm really looking forward to it."


The girl in black dress stopped me from remembering about it.
Leaving with her laugh, the girl in the black dress disappeared into the darkness.  


“Now, go. The path that 《Shield》 will lead you to……I’m really looking forward to it.”
The only thing left was silence.  


While leaving her laughter, the girl in black dress disappeared into the darkness.
This was the beginning of my story——the story of Tooru Kokonoe.
