The original translation:

Botamochi from the shelf. A top from the gourd. No, more like a horse. A spinning top from a gourd is no surprise. But if you plucked a horse out it would be like 'are you serious?'

Seki's note:

I don't think this is a standard Japanese phrase. She's saying "it's like pulling a snack out of a shelf, our a horse out of a gourd," essentially trying to say it came out of the blue. I decided to leave it in, for cultural reference's sake.

I decided to recast the sentence because, even with an explanation, it made no sense. Regardless of cultural references that could otherwise be informative or interesting, it was distracting.
