Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai:Volume 1 Prologue
Prologue
"Yaya is really cute. Yaya is too cute. She's the cutest girl in the world."
The young maiden held her hands together and said those words like a prayer.
Under the sunlight of the afternoon, the train flying on the railway blew its wistle—it was heading from London to Liverpool. In the second-class wagon, two people were wearing some exotic clothes.
From their appareances, it seems that they are Orientals, this pair of boy and girl.
It wasn't only their apparences that were strange, but also because they seem to be really lacking common sense. The young maiden's body was tended towards the young man wrapped in thick clothing while saying something at low voice.
"Yaya is too cute, I love you, Yaya, Yaya has so much charm, Yaya is my wife—"
That whisper suddenly stopped.
The young man opened both of his eyes and gazed forward with a sharp look.
"......So you woke up, Raishin."
"What are you saying near someone else's ear?
"In order that Raishin loves Yaya, Yaya is reciting a charm."
"It isn't as good as you're saying it, right? You only want to pollute my spirits, right?
Completely ignoring the blame on her, the young maiden heartily looked outside from the window and said:
"Raishin, look, we have already arrived at the 'Machine City'."
"Sigh, we've finally arrived. It has already been half a day since we've departed from London, I'm so tired that even my butt is starting to hurt."
"The 'Greatest school in Western Europe' is very close now."
The young maiden said with a smile on her face towards the young man.
"That school is to be attended full-time, right?"
"Yeah."
"Then there will only be the two of us alone the entire night, right?"
"You can put it like that......"
"We can continue these sleepless nights then?"
"Nope. I want to sleep, OK? If you cause some mess, I'll throw you out, OK?"
"............!?"
"Why are you putting an expression of grief as if you've been bullied. By the way, we aren't here to play."
The young maiden's face was recovered by a couch of haze, while her black pupils painfully shuddered.
"......It should be on this street that the Wiseman's night party is organized."
The young maiden immediately got a panicking expression.
"The magicians launched that bloody party in order to choose the supreme ruler......"

"Aah. It will entirely depend on you."
"Yeah. Just for Raishin, whether is it to jump through the water and to tread on fire, or to jump directly in your bed...
"Let's forget about the bed."
"Is this what we call a virg-"
"What are you saying? What the hell are you saying with that pure face?"
"If it is Raishin's wish, Yaya will accept wholeheartedly, with dedication, even if it's outside or under the stares of the public."
"I'm very grateful for your concern, but I'm sure you've got something wrong. I'm not asking you to try hard for those sort of things, understand?"
Well saying other things like that, the view of a modern city was passing next to them.
From the wagon's windows, you could see that both sides of the streets had buildings made of concrete standing up next to another. On the asphalt road were running model T Ford cars imported from the United States, while in the small commerce next to the street there were machine automatons selling coffee. The automaton's bodies were made of tin, and their clumsy movements were unnatural no matter how you look at it.
Machinart's metropolis, Liverpool.
It is an exporter of Manchester's huge amounts of cotton towards every front line base in the world, a city which the British Empire considers as a world trading port, and now, second only inferior to the academic city of Cambridge.
Not long after that the train entered a modern station with an iron dome—
It left immediately, and with quite a great speed.
"Why isn't the train stopping?" "That was the terminal station!"
The travelers became noisy, and weren't happy to ask these kind of questions.
At that time, the train conductor quickly ran towards them.
"Everyone, please! Please calm down and hear what I'm about to say."
The train conductor was shaking and continued saying with a trembling voice.
"The brakes don't work!"
There wasn't even the sound of a fly in the wagon.
The next moment, everyone in the train fell into terror.
"Everyone must calm down! It's fine, the train will stop naturally on its own!"
But that voice is disappearing in the midst of lamentations and anger, so it couldn't reach anyone.
Though the train showed no signs of slowing down, since it's probably on a downhill slope. If it is traveling towards the bottom, it can't naturally stop.
The train conductor was shaking uncontrollably, as if it indicated he's about to give up. And then—
"EVERYONE, PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR SEATS!"
The sights of everyone were focused on a single person.
The one who just yelled that was the young man chatting with the young maiden just before.
He wasn't tall and looked fragile, but his gaze was sharp as the one of a bird of prey.
