Translation issues

Foreign words

Proper nouns/ranks in other languages will be used where appropriate when characters would logically be speaking in their own language. This mainly goes for character speech, but I'll probably change things and just give a translation if it gets needlessly awkward. I will keep ranks in their respective languages until the entire squadron meets up and starts speaking in Britannian.

In the prologue, appropriate terms for the various forces have been used for diversity, but starting from Chapter 1, I'll be using translated terms. Afterwards, everyone starts speaking Britannian, making the issue moot.

Countries

Countries
Country Full name Adjective Language Nationality
Suomus Suomus/Suomen (Nouns) Suomi (?)
Fuso Fuso Empire
Karlsland Karlsländer Karlslaendisch Karlsländer
Britannia Marine State Britannia Britannian Britannian Britannian
Liberion United States of Liberion Liberian Britannian Liberian

The junk for Suomus (and Fuso) needs to be decided, since the entire novel takes place there. Use Suomi, like in the actual world? Or make something up like Suomis/Suomese/Suomish/Suoman.

Formatting

Punctuation

I will be using British styles for dealing with punctuation and quotation marks. This means that the position of commas and periods will follow logic, and not always end up inside quotation marks. Other than this, I'll be using American English for spelling.

Speech quotation marks will use a double quotation mark "...".

Preferred order for ! and ? is '!?'.
