The 《Fake Beast Gijiyu》, which thought it had smashed the rabbi, was scurrying around looking for its prey, which had suddenly disappeared.

If a normal human were to be eaten by that beast, then they would surely have been turned into minced meat that would be scattered all around the floor.

The only thing is, I didn't want to take a blow from a monster like that, even if it wasn't a proper one, so I held Rabi in my arms and kept a good distance away from the "fake beast".

"... Huh? Huh!? Why! What’s with the princess carry!?"

In an instant, Rabi, who moved more than 10 meters away from me in my arms, seemed confused and unable to understand the situation, just like the “Fake Beast”.

"I'll move to a place that looks safe, so hold on tight."

"??? What do you mean by...!"

I ran through the gaps between the buildings as if cutting through the wind, and leaped high toward an abandoned building I saw.

“!!!!!”

While Rabi was screaming in my arms, I jumped into the third floor, which had no windows, and landed by sliding my foot against the pavement.

“For the time being, I think we are safe for now.”

I set the dazed-looking Rabi down on the floor as she looks at me while making some jerky movements.

“...... about that ...... uh ...... thank you?”

“No, no, you're welcome.”

“What can I say, ...... Ura, you're very athletic.”

It really depends on what conditions you’re living in.

"So ...... what was that big ...... thing you were talking about?"

“It's a monster in this world, we call it a 'fake beast.”

The next moment, Rabbi's eyes flashed as she pointed at me with all her might.

“I knew it! Ura knew about this world!”

"Eh, well, that's right."

"You were deceiving me!"

“You're giving me a bad reputation. I didn't deceive you. I just didn't tell you.”

“That doesn’t make any sense!”

She sounded very angry at me.

So I didn't apologize but rather smirked at her.

"But you were really suspicious of me, weren't you? You were worried that I might be a bad guy. Being cautious is a good thing in these types of situations."

Rabi's expression turned blank for a moment, then her ears turned red and she began to panic.

“W-What’s with the sudden compliment?!”

It seems that she’s not used to getting praised by someone.

“I'm just honestly impressed. It's just ....... I just wish you would have been a little smarter about confronting that monster.”

“W-What do you mean by that?”

“When you found the fake beast on the rooftop, you thought you'd use yourself as bait, right?”

Well, it seems they ran into the “Fake Beast”' earlier before they could carry out that plan.

“....How did you know?”

“I heard Rabi’s voice in my heart saying ‘I am going to set myself up as a decoy so that Ura can escape.’”

“You’re wrong!”

“Why do you think so?”

“Because I didn’t act like I was going to do it! In the first place, you shouldn't even be able to understand what I’m thinking about by seeing my facial expressions because I’m dressed like this!”

“Well, that’s true.”

“Besides, ...... humans can never know what other person is thinking!”

—- Those words that came out of her mouth were full of emotions that I have never heard from her before.

“Well, that’s what people usually think.”

Rabi reacts to my words with a twitch.

“....Do you know Ura? Can you understand what another person is thinking about?”

“Well, what do you think?”

“.....”

“What’s the matter? If you want to ask something, just ask. We’re on equal footing now.”

The next thing I know, Rabi has a firm grip on my arm.

"Hey, how did you do that!? Is that deduction!? Or is it a mind-reading technique!? No way, a supernatural power!?"

I smiled at Rabbi, whose eyes lit up.

“I’m not telling you~”

She hit me as hard as she can. It wasn't to the face, but to the side, and since she was a girl, it didn't hurt that much, but if she was serious, that would’ve hurt a lot for sure.

“Enough! ...... So? Why did you bring me to this world? ......Wait, no way!”

“No, I'm not thinking of doing something erotic to you.”

As soon as I replied in a serious tone, Rabbi's face turned red to the limit.

“N-No way! I am! I’m not thinking about anything erotic!”

“Well. I guess it’s my fault then.”

“Yes, you're right! It's your imagination! It's all in your mind! It's just your imagination, I swear! I mean, ......I don't care about that impossible speculation! Give me a definite answer as to why you came with me!”

Rabi, who was desperately trying to deceive me by repetitively hitting the floor, was a bit amusing, but I thought it would be pitiful to ridicule her any further, so I answered the question.

“I don't really have a good reason. I just found a girl who had just "become" one of us and decided to give you a little false world tour of the Gisekai.”

“Gisekai….. Are you talking about this world?”

Looking out from the window, I turned my attention to a world different from the real world we were in.

“This world that we are currently in is a《False World》. It's a world that is made up of nothing but lies, built by copying the things that exist in the real world that we live in.”

“So that's what this world...... is.”

“Just like Rabi did this morning, once you can see the “hole”, you can easily come into this world by just touching it, but it's a little bothersome if you get lost in it by yourself.”

“That's what you said earlier .......”

At that moment, the building shook violently.

The two of us rushed to the window and looked down at the ground.

“A—-ah, it looks like they’ve found us.”

Fake beasts of all shapes and sizes were swarming around the abandoned building we were in.

The same tigers and bears we saw earlier started shaking the building and another pack of wolf-like fake beasts are trying to enter the building through the entrance.

“W-What do we do?!”

“Well, we’ll take all of them out.”

“You’re going to kill them?! What a monster!”

“Us《Awakened》don't have that much of a problem when handling stuff like this.”

“Awakened?”

“I'm talking about people like me and Rabi, who can see through the holes and come to this false world.”

Rabi's expression stiffens as I look undisturbed by this situation.

“The awakened can use the ability called “Disguise” I won’t particularly explain this in detail, but the point is that you can create a weapon that can defeat a fake beast. Like this.”

A pistol suddenly appeared in my hand with the black glove I was wearing held up in front of Rabi.

“That’s so cool! It’s like magic!”

Rabbi's eyes sparkle with joy. And the fact that she called it magic, and not magic tricks instead, really shows her taste in fantasy.

“The Awakened can materialize his or her own image of a weapon in the false world. And their physical abilities, like mine just now, improve to a degree that would be impossible in the real world.”

"So you're the strongest, that's it!"

“This is just my personal opinion, but an ordinary Awakened who can use “Disguise” won’t normally lose to the fake beast opponents around here.”

“Then that means that Ura can easily defeat them!”

“Nah, not really.”

“??? Why not?”

I point the muzzle towards the nearby wall and pull the trigger.

Pyu—.

Water came out of the muzzle.

He smirks at Rabi, who looks at him blankly.

"Unlike the ordinary Awakened, I'm not very good at dealing with fake beasts."

The next thing I know, an avalanche of wolf fake beasts comes crashing into the room we're in.

“D-D-DO SOMETHING!”

“ISN’T IT OBVIOUS— JUST RUN AWAY!”

The water pistol in his hand disappeared easily in the air as he threw it away.

Then, with his free hands, he picked up Rabi again in a princess carry and ran as fast as he could toward another window.

“Eh? HUH?! N, NOT AGAIN!”

As Rabbi had expected, he jumped out of the window and soared into the air.

“KyAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaa!”

I slid as I landed on the ground. I came out with no injuries, and Rabi in my arms was holding on to me tightly, so everything seemed to be okay.

Another group of fake beasts that had been hanging around the abandoned building noticed us in the area and came running in our direction.

"So, I think I'll finish today's false world tour and go home, but is there anything left unfinished, Researcher Rabbi?"

“NO, I’m good! Let’s just hurry up and RUN! We need to get OUT OF HERE!”

“Then shall we?”

I ran again and headed in the direction of the "hole" we had come in.

“Ura! Behind you! They’re chasing after us!”

Rabbi, who was watching what was going on behind me while in my arms, started making a fuss.

“It's okay, we’re fine. Look, I can see the way out back to the real world.”

After hearing my words, Rabi turned and looked behind her, and seemed to be relieved to see the “hole” just near us.

However, she immediately tensed up.

“....Hey, isn’t this a bad idea?”

“What do you mean?”

“Aren't they going to follow us to the real world at this rate?”

“If that happens, it will be a catastrophe. The park square will become a sea of blood. Ha-ha-ha.”

“That’s not funny at all!”

“Okay, hold on tight. I'm going to run as fast as I can.”

Rabi clings to me as I speed up.

We then passed through the "hole" that connected the real world and the "false world".

As I escaped from the false world and jumped out into the real world, my ability as an "Awakened" expired, and the weight of the rabbi was suddenly felt on both of my arms.

But since I'm a healthy male high school student, I don't have a problem with carrying a girl or two.

—-Which is why I ran towards the exit of the park square at night.

After all, the act of carrying a girl in a public place is very conspicuous.

“Come to think of it, I forgot to mention that the “Fake Beasts” cannot enter the real world.”

“I- I I I I–!”

If this was a "fake world" with just the two of them in it, she would have complained loudly.

However, in the real world, Rabi buried her face in my shoulder and didn't say a word, trying to avoid the strange gazes of those people walking around us.
