Short Story

Part 1

“This isn’t good”, at that moment I thought, but I was already late.

Murata expression changed when he passed by the businessman. The two of us crashed, Murata and I lost our balance and we fell twenty-five stairs downwards

My name is Shibuya Yuri, which isn’t apart of restroom process. Today, I had gone to meet with my friend at the gate of the ticket office of district’s train station . The time was five and sixteen minutes, February 13 a Saturday.

I am very punctual; it’s rare that I arrived two minutes after the appointment. But this time I was climbing slippery stairs two by two, after covered with last night’s snowfall.

My classmate from 7,8,9 during junior high school, Murata Ken , he had worn cute camel colored coat with double flaps and a black scarf. As it seemed, we weren't going to meet at ticket office gate. He began coming down the stairs.

I remembered, he had just finished the PSAT. Carrying the briefcase for his schoolwork on his left shoulder, holding it place with one hand.

-- Stop, Murata! It’s dangerous; you are going to fog up your glasses.

-- No, Shibuya, it’s the other way are around. The reverse makes fog; when you pass from a cold place to hot one, like when you eat noodles.

He said at the foot of the stairs, just arriving at half-time. As, I squat clutching the handrail, while desperately inhaling cold air into my lungs.

-- Hey…sorry for being late

-- No you aren’t late

-- But it was I who asked you to accompany me to check the bookstores! Don’t you know that in situations like this, I should arrive 15 minutes before at the agreed place and be waiting for you?

-- What are you saying, eh?

Murata glasses reflected a surprised expression, before patting me on the back, whacking my jacket.

I hope, you won't give me such a pleasent speech when you take me to see baseball.

But you like baseball?

Nevertheless, even though he is going to check a appropriately chosen reference book list for me, it’s not going to be a enjoyable with a friend. We decided that afterwards to go somewhere to warm up, we would go see the book stores close to the station… all so I was not due disgraceful results en the monthly exams.
