Aaaaaaargh!!! CLIFFHANGER!!!

And now it's all explained... very, _very_ pleasant. So very happy to have gotten to read the workings of this! | Ufufufu. And the next volume will presumably have him working with full knowledge... tricky, tricky. Hmmm. Securing the Maria-NPC's cooperation should be fairly simple, but how would the others react to hearing that they were NPCs and their existence would be ended no matter what they did? Also, on the subject of the Maria-NPC, it occurs to me to wonder what the PC Maria thought of the NPC Maria declaring a lack of the 'box'. Since their perceptions differ in that regard, she should have noticed that she and the NPC were separate... or were the perceptions so thoroughly replaced that even the 'perception of being a box' was only that of the NPC's? That might be the most convenient setting. Now then, how to get the other NPCs to willingly die? It might in fact help to introduce them to the idea that they would die no matter what. Ah, and I wonder how the role is decided... Revolutionary, King, Sorcerer... *facepalms at seeing the '(Player)' at the ends that could have served as such a helpful clue if noticed and paid attention to* | The NPC-Daiya might be of particular help. The matter of what he revealed in the first round about his motivations, the other girl... hmm. | Finally everything is remembered. He's no longer operating blind. However it goes (and he'll presumably win no matter what), this will be /fun/! | Still not evident who's 0. It could be Kamiuchi... it could be Maria... the likelihood of it being Yanagi is lower now that the second round's motivations are understood, but... hmm. Yanagi connections... the question of who is behaviour unusually, who is behaving in a way that seems strange, odd, not fully in tune with normal human emotions... I'm inclined to think that Daiya and Yanagi are not 0 due to the _depth_ of emotion shown. Maria and Kamiuchi are suspicious for different reasons. Iroha, seems unlikely, but not much information each way. It would be absurd for Kazuki to be, since the point is to observe him. There's also the possibility that none of them is this time. Considering Kamiuchi's displayed wildness, probably Maria is the most suspicious, regarding her saying things or not saying things at certain times, and overall being much more (...inconveniently...) passive than usual. Normally, even while inherently unable to do anything, she still struggles, bluffs for instance, rails and fights! Hm, also suspicious that her position on 'don't tell about the boxes'/'willingly tell about the boxes' completely flipped between rounds despite in theory being an identical NPC. It's particularly interesting, then, if Kazuki is trying desperately to save /her/ while she's not in fact present. Well, Kamiuchi is still be to considered (in terms of having to live/be saved). Ahh, so much pleasure! --Multipartite/131.111.229.54, 1433 (GMT +1)

Regarding the don't tell/tell; Iroha was stopped by Daiya, hence the tension wasn't as high as in the first round. This enabled Maria to tell them about the 'boxes' before Noitan's explanation. Quoting Maria: "If we told them after the explanation of the game, they would have thought that we were just trying to trick them in order to win. We could tell them just because they were still able to consider it properly." EusthEnoptEron 11:55, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

What if '0' wasn't in the previous round? Or maybe he changed from one player to the other? Since they are just NPCs. Btw, can't wait for the next volume... EDIT: I just realized that all players have won at least once before Kazuki's turn...

Nope, only Daiya, Yuuri and Iroha have won yet. EusthEnoptEron 11:47, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Ahh, my mummies : D

'0' could also be that teddy bear, or what it was. I don't know why, but somehow I find it very fitting to him (and he is the only character that can't die (well, I suppose he can't die...).

And thanks, EusthEnoptEron, for translating this, you are doing a great job. The 4th volume isn't out yet? (And after waiting for the 10th volume of Suzumiya Haruhi, I really started to hate cliffhangers...) --Spiller 12:25, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

It's going to come out on June 10th. Probably, I'll start working on it at the beginning of July or so (order book, read it, find scans if possible). EusthEnoptEron 12:46, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

A good point regarding the telling before/after! Thinking on similar lines, it might be possible to gain an advantage by predicting certain aspects--such as naming others before they came out of their rooms for the first time--and thus convincing others of the accuracy of one's claimed knowledge of the game's setup. *thoughts stray to whether Kamiuchi is suspicious regarding the differing attitude towards Yanagi ('willing to kill to survive' somehow quickly changed to 'willing to be killed')* | The 'winning': I suspect the person was referring to the character's victory conditions, rather than the Players surviving. This could be of minor significance regarding how easy it is for each person (PC or NPC) to get through a round alive... particularly significant regarding Kazuki, of all of them, being the one least apt at surviving a round. | It occurs to me that it would be amusing if 0 was originally a human, and if Kazuki or someone else has a chance of eventually becoming a similar entity... well, fairly unlikely. I've assumed that the bear is a function of the box, and so there would be little to be gained by taking its place. Consider 0's previous actions, what would be convenient for him/her/it to prod others/stir things up? Hmmmm. Ah, and there's the question of whether 0 in fact could die if attacked... neither Haruaki nor the boy's sister died, before... | *seconds/[appropriate number] the thanks!*

if he tries to take advantage of his knowledge they will think he is the culprit, 0 originally being a human is possible.... i don't think he will die because of this box but maybe by maria's power and last question: where is 0??? i think he has been watching in the game, i am sure that in the third game (and maybe the second) it was kamiuchi(or what he is called) but in the first one??in the fourth one???? we will just have to wait:(

(In retrospect, Haruaki did undergo death in the first volume. Even assuming that 0 was maybe counting on the death being reversed, it still raises questions about the 'watching', implying that 0 is able to watch the events unfolding even without being physically present. Physical presence then might be solely for the purpose of direct meddling.) | It is possible to give information without being suspected, much as revealing knowledge of the boxes did not inherently spell doom in the second round.
