Mushoku Tensei[edit]

Are you working on chapter 239 or 240 of Mushoku Tensei? The registration page says we're registered to the same chapter. --imagelesskink (talk) 11:29, 3 March 2015 (CST)

Sorry about that. I'm doing 240. I've fixed it on the registration page.

Chapter name for 240[edit]

Shouldn't the chapter name for 240 be "The Thing being searched for", this feels more appropriate rather than "What they were searching for" since there isn't any 'they' being mentioned in the title and the 'what' is signifying some kind of object or thing. Tell me about your thoughts. --Kaezar (talk) 04:42, 23 March 2015 (CDT)

I get what you're saying in that there is no mention of 'they' but it flows better this way in english. Also the line is written in past tense implying that the 'thing' has already been found. The 'they' could be removed by making it 'The thing that was being searched for' but that seems a bit too wordy. The 'what' is accurate enough, the kanji used is pretty all purpose generally referring to anything that's not a person, in this case, soy sauce. This also applies to 241 as there is only one kanji different so whatever is decided on we should standardise it. Pielord Miniman (Talk) 05:39, 23 March 2015 (CDT)

You can just reply on your own page no need to reply on mine as well. Any way, if the 'they' can be removed then shouldn't it be 'he' as in Rudi, since Rudi was the main person who was searching for the Soy Sauce and Ruijerd making it "The thing/person he was searching for", this way the ambiguity is eliminated while the flow is good as well or is that wrong as well? --Kaezar (talk) 09:42, 23 March 2015 (CDT)

Japanese's lack of pronouns always makes things like this difficult to translate without being fudged of sounding disjointed. I think that what you have there is good. The 'he' does bother me a little as the sentence doesn't talk about a single person, you could interpret it as everybody in existence searching. But since the titles do usualy refer to Rudy, if you think that sounds better then it's fine. I'll leave it up to your discretion. Pielord Miniman (Talk) 18:10, 23 March 2015 (CDT)

Need proofreader? Also...[edit]

Hey, looks like I got myself a proofreader. Well, she edits most of the things though, like grammar mistakes or making the flow good. Of course, she doesn't know Japanese, I review her edits one more time and then it's all good. So, I wanted to ask if you need help in proofreading as well, also would you be interested in forming a team in order to increase the quality and speed of translation. In order to increase speed we can use google docs in order to translate a chapter by parts, for ex: you translate one part I translate another, someone else translates another part. We can also help each other out with sentences or references that we don't get ourselves, after that the proofreader can do her work and we can review once again to confirm that everything is in order. So, what do you think, I've asked others about this as well. I'll be waiting. --Kaezar (talk) 13:59, 24 March 2015 (CDT)

I like the Google doc idea as it would mean that I don't have to skip a chapter ahead to TL sometimes (Although when you think about it the doc won't effect translation speed too much as its not like its giving us more time to TL...), I assume the editor you found will be in the doc as well, but if the doc doesn't happen it seems like too much of a pain to send something away and wait for a reply because once the chapter is up anybody can edit it anyway so she could just do it there. Pielord Miniman (Talk) 20:25, 24 March 2015 (CDT)

P.S. Who besides IK have you asked?

Yeah, the editor uses doc as well. It's pretty good actually, you can add comments to lines that your unsure about and we can even chat if two or more people are online at the same time. I just assumed that it would be better if more people worked on one chapter and producing good translations rather than each translator to each chapter and producing ok translations. So, if you don't want to do it, I won't pester you, it's fine. Also, I've asked only IK, he hasn't replied back yet, probably busy. There is also this Lygar guy who registered the last chapter, he hasn't replied back yet as well. So, are you in?--Kaezar (talk) 01:39, 25 March 2015 (CDT)

I aint against it. If you can get the others on, I'm up for it. I've seen how it works in action (re:monster TL uses it) and its pretty good. Being able to get on, translate 10 or 15 lines and leave makes it easy to hop on and off (But it also makes Procratranlation (Procrastination + Translation if you didn't get it) easier too...) Pielord Miniman (Talk) 01:58, 25 March 2015 (CDT)

P.S. Something like this.

Ok, then. IK and Lygar have yet to respond so if they're in, I'll tell you. Or you can just start right now and send your 242 doc. My email is [email protected], I'll tell you about the editor's when you send me. I've already tled 243 30% and will continue later. I might not be able to tl for 2 days since something came up, but we'll pull through somehow.--Kaezar (talk) 02:35, 25 March 2015 (CDT)

Sent. Also only set up the document to the end of 243 for now so if turns out to be a pain we can drop it without you having set up like 10+ chapters. Pielord Miniman (Talk) 03:25, 25 March 2015 (CDT)
