Editing required?

Just wondering whether you need an editor to look over the translated sections and improve on the sentences and everything like that. If you do, i'll try to look through what's been translated so far, though i really can't keep to a regular schedule, so if you do accept my help, at best it'd be quite infrequent, especially during school. Technically the "light" part of the term Light Novel refers to the relative complexity of the kanji, not length , something Middle-schoolers and High-schoolers should be able to read. That said, I hear this series is called "The Dictionary".SonodaYuki (talk) 19:27, 2 January 2014 (CST)

Is it too late to edit chapters that have already been collected into epub form?

English [UK] vs. English [US]

Is there a preference for one method of spelling over the other? Whichever one is chosen, it should probably be consistently followed...being American I'm not an expert on UK spellings but I'll do my best if that's the preference. --Txtracer (talk) 03:38, 6 December 2014 (CST)

Sommelier vs. Connoisseur

I've noticed that the translators have been using "sommelier" a lot to describe Toori's boob fixation. A Sommelier is someone who is able to analyze and classify wines by sense of smell. I think the term Connoisseur is more likely to be what was intended; a connoisseur is someone who is an expert and enthusiast on some subject, and Toori is certainly that when it comes to mammary glands.

After some further research it turns out "sommelier" is probably OK to use as a description of Toori's interests, although IMHO it is a less familiar term than "connoisseur" which I think works better anyway (a sommelier is a trained professional while a connoisseur is an amateur enthusiast). Mito-tsan

Another thing I've noticed is the use of -tsan instead of -san with Mitotsudaira in the short version of her name. I've been taking the t off because I'm not familiar with that usage, but is -tsan actually correct? If so, I'll put it back.

Song of Passage

I found it weird that for the rest of his series the author uses existing songs as a background theme (like Silent Night or the US hymn), but for this one instead wrote a new one... or so it seemed. By chance, I found that the Song of Passage is a variation the nursery rhyme of a children game very similar to London Bridge is falling down (that is, two children hold each other's hands up and the rest of players pass through the arch while the song is sung, at the end of which the arch is lowered;kids that get trapped by the arms, lose), and its tune is used for the japanese "blind-alerting" traffic lights (that is, traffic lights with a speaker that emit sounds when it becomes green for people).

The full lyrics of the original song, plus translation:

The author clearly made the changes to depict the distortions that happen when reenacting history, but it's interesting to know from where things come.--Kemm (talk)

Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon XXI

Does anyone know what the issue is with the XXI OVA? They plain skipped from the end of the second season to about the current point in the novels (i.e. farther than we have read, ergo spoilers) and somehow the premise reminds me of some game-like plot (?). I ask here because trying to find about it on my own rendered nothing but quite the big spoiler from 10-C. --Kemm (talk)

No idea. As a side note, someone did integrate Js06's translation of CITY's SF into the illustrations (I have yet to check the quality, though). I do wonder where exactly did they find the raws, though, as my numerous searches with different engines only resulted in dodgy offers to sell the original paper book, as well as the (closed since forever) original site to buy it (Satoyasu's personal website), and in my experience I tend to find things other people give up as a lost cause...--Kemm (talk)

Didn't Satoyasu simply move from http://www.tenkystore.com/ to https://www.tenky.co.jp/? Clicking some stuff takes me to dengekibunko.jp, where I assume I'll find the exclusively digital CITY-SF volume. Though Of course, what with Kadokawa and hackers, the site yet persists in its remaining down* (see: *The site you are trying to access is currently undergoing emergency maintenance.) Fortunate for everything else, you can get them instantly on bookwalker... Ah, also, I just remembered something...When Kawakami had a somewhat large following, in that particular channel of that particular image board, a user by the name 'Crytos Pop Heart Von Poppy Popsly Et a Lionsdown' ( I use his name on an online battle simulator I frequent, hence why I remember it ) regularly uploaded all manner of Kawakami novels, short and long alike. I think its all been archived 'there', so feel free to check it out. Alternatively, the Kadokawa website shut down will likely last little more than a few more months, then CITY SFs availability will come.

As far as I know, SF wasn't a digital exclusive, but a digital-order-exclusive physical doujinshi. The only links to Dengeki Bunko come from the showcased books (On a Godless Planet and Horizon NEXT BOX). Neither SF nor Tokyo were released via Kadokawa, but as doujinshi (I believe at least Tokyo was sold during a Comiket or something, while SF, as far as I'm aware but I may be wrong, could only be purchased from Tenky Store, but both had a limited print run). Proof of their status as doujinshi is the fact that the covers show a distinctive lack of Dengeki Bunko's seal. You won't find them at any official publisher's page nor any regular bookstore. Heck, I even followed VIRTUALCITY-Ex.'s (the name for Tenky at Pixiv) rabbithole until Melonbook's list of Kawakami's works (and Meloonbook sells even pretty old doujinshi), but nothing. As I said, the only sources are found are dodgy resellings that are quite overpriced. --Kemm (talk)

Kimitoasamade has now been (re)unleashed, in all its glory, and with a much more polished presentation, all extra content inclusive. With this, I believe all Horizon related content has truly been exhausted...onwards to dungeons and elves now ( godless hasn't been updated in 2 years ;_; ( but at least this way js06 can catch up. There's just that 1 volume after all) )
