A freshman of Miyasaka High, Kurogane Taito was average at everything. And all this while, he had believed himself to be an ordinary regular guy. But, he was wrong. The reason was because of a certain event 9 years ago. For the sake of a promise he had made then, he had already stopped being ordinary a long time ago. However, not a single fragment of his memory about that promise remained. Who had stolen his memory and to what ends? One day, as a consequence of a certain event that had descended upon his ordinary life, his memories were restored. That marked the beginning of his “extraordinary” life...

The story revolves around a school, which, unknown to most, contains gateways to all kinds of dimensions. It begins with the protagonist, Taito Kurogane, a regular student at the school, who while going about his normal daily life, died in a car accident. Consequently a spell that was cast on him was broken, and his sealed up memories were awoken. When he was young, he met with a young and beautiful girl, an "Ancient Mage", who poisoned him with an ability.

Upon regaining his memories, he then sought to free the "Ancient Mage", Saitohimea, and then came to meet the twin brother of the one who abducted Himea back then, the arrogant Gekkou Kurenai, and his childish familiar, Mirai Andou. Gekkou is on a quest to avenge his parents, to kill his very own twin brother. However, the two guys are unable to get along, so they quarrel endlessly, while working to achieve their goals. One sets off to protect Saitohimea, who has given up everything she has for him. The other to kill his own twin brother...

Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi (いつか天魔の黒ウサギ) is a Japanese light novel series written by Kagami Takaya (鏡貴也), with illustrations by Kamiya Yuu (榎宮祐), published by Fujimi Shobo under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label.
