High School DxD (ハイスクールD×D) is a Japanese light novel series written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, published by Fujimi Shobo under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label.

Story Synopsis

The story follows Issei Hyōdō, a dim-witted, lecherous second-year high school student who is killed by a girl on his first date ever. Issei is reincarnated as a devil, and from that day forward, he serves as an underling of Riasu, a high-level devil who is also the prettiest girl on Issei's campus.

Isei Hyodo (兵藤 一誠, Hyoudou Issei)

Stupid, lecherous and a pervert. A normal high school student born in a normal family, but is in possession one of the ultimate Sacred Gear, Boosted Gear. He was killed by his girlfriend, a fallen-angel, and was revived as a devil, and a servant of Rias Gremory, his new master. Now he aims to become a Harem-king by getting a peerage, unaware of himself attracting girls around him.

Rias Gremory (リアス・グレモリー, Riasu Guremori)

Power: Power of destruction

Comes from the old noble of pure devils, the house of Gremory, a top-class devil who is called a genius nicknamed "Crimson Ruin Princess". Her brother is in fact one of the Yondai-Maou, Lucifer. Both of them possess the power of destruction. She revives Ise as her servant after finding him dead, killed by a fallen-angel and possessing a rare Sacred Gear. Kind and soft to her servants, becomes a totally different person when training or fighting.

Akeno Himejima (姫島 朱乃, Himejima Akeno)

Power: Power of Light

Born between a human miko, and a leader of the fallen angels. After the death of her mother, she became Rias's servant. She is a friend close enough to call Rias by her name in private, yet calls her Buchou in presence of others and displays master-servant relationship in public. She is persistent at using her power of light inherited from her father but starts to use it after Ise convinces her.
