These Project Startup Guidelines apply to all new Baka-Tsuki projects, including alternative language projects and alternative media projects.

All Translation Projects

Project Proposal and Petitioning

  • All new requests must have a discussion thread opened in the Future Project Suggestions forum, with the name of the novel (series) in the title.
  • In the request thread, you must have a poll open, asking the public:

"Do you wish to see this Novel (series) Translated?"

Give the public these options:

  • "I might try translating this"
  • "Yes"
  • "Not Really (Please give a reason)"
  • "No (Please give a reason)"
  • The Novel (Series) must be unlicensed for any official English publisher. You must clearly show that this is true, failure to do so could mean that a lot of effort would be put into it only for it to be pulled away. A very sad and unfortunate situation, that we really don't want to happen. So please please please check.
If possible have a Baka-Tsuki Staff Member verify it.

Creation of Teaser Project

  • The discussion thread for the project must already exist in the Future Project Suggestions forum
  • You must have the raw and also state the language it is in, so you are able to pass it on to a translator. You are required to find that translator yourself. That translator should translate an excerpt of the novel to qualify it as a teaser.
  • Perform the following actions:
    1. A new Project Page should be created. Refer to Project Page Format Guidelines.
    2. Categorize the new Project Page into the Category:Teasers
    3. Add the Template, Warning ATP to the top of the Project Page.
    4. A new Teaser Feedback Page should be created and placed in the Teaser Feedback Subforum.
  • After you have fulfilled the above points, you must contact a Wiki Supervisor by Email and P.M (optional) with a link to the Forum post of the requested Series.
  • When you do receive confirmation, you must POST the name of the Supervisor who approved you, to ensure all Baka-Tsuki Staff Members are aware of it. Supervisors should:
    1. Send a copy of your Email approval with the original request to the Big Boss (thelastguardian) to inform him of the new project.
    2. Remove the Warning ATP tag.

Approval to Full Project

Requirements

  • At least one or more chapters of a volume must be fully translated.
  • You MUST have a willing Translator who must register on this forum, and verify in a written post that they will take up the project. That verified Baka-Tsuki translator will only have to post a confirmation that they are willing to take up the series.
  • A Project Supervisor must be named. By default, if there is only one Project Translator, he/she is assumed to be the Project Supervisor.

Protocol

  • After you have fulfilled the above points, you must contact a Wiki Supervisor by Email and P.M (optional) with a link to the Project Page of the requested Series.
  • Supervisors should:
    1. Send an email to the Big Boss (thelastguardian) to inform him of the new full project.
    2. Contact a member of the Custodial Staff (ie: Onizuka-gto), and have them add the series to the Sidebar.
    3. Remove the Teaser Category and properly categorize the Project in the appropriate categories.
