Volumen 14 Capítulo 119 - Entrando al Laberinto

1ª Parte

Nos encontramos ante el Laberinto de la Teletransportación.

A simple vista, parece una simple cueva, sin ningún aspecto especial o llamativo; tan solo un agujero en la base de una montaña. Si te mostraran una foto del mismo, como mucho, te llamaría la atención la cantidad de telas de araña que se pueden ver por la entrada y algunos restos de otros monstruos atrapados en ellas; pero nada más.

Pero yendo en persona, una vez te encuentras lo suficiente cerca, la impresión que da es distinta; como si algún instinto te advirtiera de que es un lugar peligroso, una corazonada de que el lugar es un Laberinto propiamente dicho. Pero entremezclada con esa sensación, mi curiosidad iba en aumento haciéndome querer ver el interior del mismo.

Me pregunto si todos los Laberintos causarán este efecto...

"Bueno, Ludy, vamos a entrar siguiendo la formación que hablamos, ¿estás listo?"

"Cuando quieras."

Al escuchar mi respuesta, Paul puso su mano en mi hombro y asintió tranquilo, tras lo que nos posicionamos como ya habíamos acordado el día de antes y nos preparamos para entrar.

Va a ser la primera vez que entre en un Laberinto, y estoy menos emocionado de lo que esperaba... seguramente los nervios y el miedo a cometer errores me tienen en tensión.

"Danna-sama... que la suerte os acompañe."

"Tened cuidado ahí dentro."

Lilia, Vera y Shera nos habían acompañado a la entrada, pero al final decidimos que sería más conveniente que regresaran a Lapan a caballo.

Por lo general, los clanes de aventureros montan campamentos temporales a las afueras de los Laberintos, pero debido a la cercanía con la ciudad, decidimos que no sería necesario. Por este motivo, no hay una verdadera necesidad de montar campamento justo en la entrada.

"Llegó la hora..."

Nos adentramos finalmente en el interior de la cueva y pudimos notar una clara falta de luminosidad en su interior, sin llegar a quedarse totalmente oscuro; esto era debido a un ligero brillo que envolvía las paredes de la cueva.

Aun así, no me cabía duda de que la falta de luminosidad podría llevarnos a cometer errores fatales.

"Voy a iluminar la zona."

"De acuerdo."

Poco después de entrar, utilicé uno de los pergaminos que me entregó Nanahoshi, a lo que espíritus de la luz aparecieron y flotaron a nuestro alrededor.

Gisu por su parte utilizó otro pergamino para tener un foco independiente de luz; el motivo de esto es que al ser el explorador del grupo, debía ir delante nuestra y por lo tanto alejado de la luz.

Ayer hicimos pruebas con los pergaminos y comprobamos que hasta Paul y Gisu eran capaces de utilizarlos. Aunque como era de esperar, a mayor poder mágico, los espíritus permanecían más tiempo brillando, por lo que seguía siendo lo mejor que fuera yo el que los utilizara.

Además que apenas consumen maná...

Aun así, todos en el grupo agradecieron no tener que ir cargando con antorchas, siendo molesto moverte y combatir con una mano ocupada.

La iluminación es mayor que la de una simple antorcha y consume muy poco poder mágico para lo que duran... Si esto se volviera mainstream, es posible que las antorchas desaparecieran del mercado.

"Paul, he de decir que tu hijo ha traído cosas muy útiles consigo."

"Era de esperar, por algo estoy tan orgulloso de él."

Paul se dio un suave puñetazo en el pecho casi alardeando y Talhand dijo lo siguiente con un tono algo incrédulo.

"Puede, pero no parece que él tenga un padre del que sentirse orgulloso."

"No le digas eso, que está un poco acomplejado."

Las palabras de Elinalise hicieron que el exceso de orgullo de Paul se desinflara dejando caer sus hombros. Aunque Gisu nos trajo de vuelta a la realidad.

"Venga, dejaos de tonterías y moved el culo."

2ª Parte

Primera planta del Laberinto, como me comentaron, se trataba de una cueva similar a un nido de hormigas.

A su vez, las paredes y el techo tenían telas de araña decorando todo el lugar y por el suelo, a lo lejos, puedo ver un brillo azulado brillante emitido de un círculo mágico de teletransporte famoso en este Laberinto.

Al acercarnos, con el brillo de los espíritus de luz pude comprobar que el círculo mágico emitía una luz fluorescente.

"Según dijisteis, hay círculos mágicos de vez en cuando que no emiten luz y que por eso siempre hay que andarse con ojo, ¿no es cierto?"

"Exacto, Ludy, así que asegúrate de pisar sobre las pisadas de Gisu para evitar caer por error en uno."

Gisu nos guiaba unos metros por delante nuestra, equipado con unas botas especiales que dejan al caminar pisadas marcadas con una cruz llamativa.

Pensé que se trataría de un objeto mágico, pero resultaron ser botas normales con unas placas afiladas de hierro en su base con forma de cruz; posiblemente nacidas de la sabiduría de los aventureros que ya han explorado otros Laberintos y zonas peligrosas.

Encima parece que se agarran con mucha facilidad al suelo para evitar deslizamientos, sin contar con que además dejan marcas... qué utensilio tan útil.

Aun así, por lo que saben del primer piso del Laberinto es que los círculos mágicos se ven a simple vista y es difícil caer en uno por error; pero es mejor ir con cuidado desde el principio.

El motivo de esta facilidad es que, aunque los únicos monstruos que aparecen en esta planta son Tarántula Deathlord, pero por el suelo corren distintos tipos de araña que casi seguro sea el alimento principal de los monstruos. Hay suficientes como para que cualquier persona que odiase a los arácnidos se pudiera desmayar.

Debido a estos insectos que pueblan completamente el suelo del Laberinto, es fácil saber dónde se encuentran las trampas de teletransporte, solo tienes que fijarte en las zonas en las que no hay arañas.

No me extrañaría que muchos aventureros hubieran pisado esos círculos mágicos por error al buscar sitios en los que no acabaran pisando algún insecto.

Crunch, Crunch, Crunch...

Debido a este hecho, continuamos nuestro camino pisando arácnidos a cada paso y dejando escapar crujidos a nuestros pies en todo momento. No es exactamente agradable, pero no hay más remedio.

Pero volviendo al asunto principal, el gran número de Tarántulas Deathlords que habitan este lugar todavía apenas nos han salido al paso, y las pocas que Gisu ha ido encontrando, han sido despachadas por Paul en cuestión de segundos; dejándome sin nada que hacer por el momento.

"Eh~... Parece que de momento esto va a ser un paseo tranquilo."

Paul mantiene un paso rápido armado con 2 espadas en sus manos.

¿2 espadas? Una es la que siempre llevaba en casa, seguramente sea su fiel compañera de aventuras; pero la de su mano izquierda no la he visto nunca...

La espada con la que siempre he visto a Paul es una espada larga, que no sabría decir si posee alguna habilidad especial o no, pero con ella corta las arañas sin dificultad de un solo ataque. Aunque siento al ver a Paul pelear que más que depender de la fuerza del arma, el efecto es gracias a la habilidad de Paul con ella.

En su mano izquierda, la longitud de la hoja se encuentra en un punto intermedio entre daga y espada larga-

Se parece a la tan aclamada espada corta de los videojuegos, aunque al ser la hoja algo curva con doble filo y encima tener una guarda que protege la mano del portador me recuerda más a un sable pirata... No me cuesta imaginar a Paul como un pirata, la verdad... Además tiene un extraño hueco en la hoja, ¿me pregunto para qué servirá? Aunque esta no la está usando mucho...

Aunque no la está usando mucho, sino que combate usando únicamente su mano derecha. ¿Para qué llevará la espada de su izquierda? ¿Será alguna clase de Chuunibyou en este mundo lo de llevar 2 espadas para llamar la atención?

"... Definitivamente un paseo por el parque, ¡¿No es así?!"

El tema de su segunda espada no es importante, sino el hecho de que cada vez que termina con un grupo de enemigos, Paul se gira hacia mí sonriéndome imitando una sonrisa fresca y que casi me permite escuchar el destello con el que relucen los dientes que me muestran.

Qué pesado... ¿Acaso estará haciendo eso para presumir delante mía sobre lo COOL que es? Papá... ya sé que eres guay y no te hace falta recordármelo, por lo que preferiría que no bajaras la guardia por tonterías.

"¡Paul! ¡Deja de hacer el imbécil y presta atención!"

Mira... hasta la abuela Elinalise se está enfadando contigo.

"¿Pero qué más da? Con todas las veces que hemos atravesado el primer piso ya me lo sé de memoria."

"La negligencia puede costarte la vida, ¿lo entiendes, Paul?"

"Eso ya lo sé, no hace falta que me lo recuerdes."

"Pero si hasta te me estás adelantando... ¡¿Recuerdas que decidimos que yo me encargaría de recibir a los enemigos?!"

"Pero solo contra las arañas no importa realmente quién vaya delante, ¿no es cierto?"

Elinalise y Paul se pusieron a discutir, y al oírles, a mi espalda pude escuchar a Talhand suspirar.

"Me extrañaba lo mucho que estaban tardando en pelearse..."

"Puede que a mí no me afecte que te adelantes, pero es la primera vez que Ludeus entra en un Laberinto, ¡como adultos responsables tenemos que enseñarle correctamente cómo se hace!"

"Por eso mismo, intentaba calmar los ánimos con mi actitud, ¡así podría estar menos tenso!"

"¡Deja de inventarte tonterías! ¡Llevas todo el rato actuando como un estúpido intentando hacerte quedar bien, como cuando Zenith se unió a nuestro grupo por primera vez!"

"Eso... Bueno, no, no puedo negar que tienes algo de razón... Pero vaya, ¿ahora te dedicas a ir por ahí regañando a la gente?"

"Es normal que te regañe, ahora eres como un hijo para mí, y como tal, no me queda más remedio que corregirte cuando te equivoques."

Al escucharla decir esto, Paul no puedo dejar escapar una risotada.

"¿A qué viene eso de un hijo para ti? ¿Acaso llevas tanto tiempo con Ludy que hasta me has cogido cariño? Debes estar de broma... verte actuar como mi madre hace que se me ponga la piel de gallina, así que para de una vez."

"... ¿Ara? Ludeus, ¿se te olvidó mencionárselo?"

"... ¿Mencionar qué?"

"Que Sylphy es mi nieta. Teniendo en cuenta que estás casado con mi nieta, significa que ahora somos familia, ¿no es así, Ludeus? En ese caso, podría decirse que Zenith y Paul son ahora padres de Sylphy, y por lo tanto hijos míos..."

Paul dijo estas palabras con la mirada un tanto perdida, pero actuando como si de verdad fuera a ponerlo en práctica, colocándose en su posición.

"¿En serio...? ¿Ahora soy familia de Elinalise.....? El universo se ha vuelto loco..."

Pero se le podía oír murmurar esto desde su posición, claramente afectado por el impacto de enterarse de este hecho.

3ª Parte

Atravesar la primera planta fue increíblemente sencillo, demostrando que lo que Paul mencionó era cierto.

El pasillo con forma de hormiguero tenía pequeños descansillos de habitaciones de mayor tamaño repletos de Tarántula Deathlords; y era en estos puntos en los que me tocaba pasar a la acción. Aunque antes de entrar al primero de ellos, Talhand me dio una serie de consejos a tener en cuenta.

"Escucha, chico, ni se te ocurra utilizar hechizos de Fuego."

"¿Y eso?"

"Porque al usar el fuego, un gas venenoso acabará cubriendo por completo la habitación; la advertencia es aun más importante para los pisos inferiores."

"... ¿Y no se puede curar con magia Restituyente?"

"Este veneno no."

Analizando lo que dice... lo más probable que esa nube de veneno sea dióxido y monóxido de carbono, que es lo único que se me ocurre que puede generar un veneno incurable con magia tras usar magia de Fuego es una intoxicación por monóxido de carbono... Tiene sentido... Si usas grandes fuegos en un espacio cerrado como es un Laberinto, se acaba consumiendo el oxígeno disponible, hasta desmayarte aquí y que los monstruos te ataquen, porque dudo que la mayoría respiren oxígeno.

"Además de eso, ten en cuenta que tienes tajantemente prohibido atacar el techo con hechizos. Imagino que entiendes el motivo...""

"Porque el techo se podría venir abajo, ¿no es así?"

"Exacto, y por lo mismo aunque refiriéndome al suelo, no debes usar hechizos de Agua tampoco. A ser posible, utiliza hechizos de hielo."

"De acuerdo."

Imagino que el agua podría hacer que el suelo cediera... aunque seguramente, sea solo en grandes cantidades. Con Tierra podría ocurrir algo similar, porque estarías manipulando el suelo que pisamos y es posible que estemos debilitando un punto de apoyo de la cueva, lo que causaría graves problemas.

Básicamente, cualquier cosa que pueda poner en peligro la estructura de la cueva está vetado para evitar hundimientos, y la opción más segura en estos casos es el hielo...

Tras pensarlo unos segundos, decido utilizar principalmente la magia combinada de hielo, GLACIE-PLUVIA, más popularmente conocido como Lluvia de Témpanos; hechizo que lanza una gran cantidad de estacas heladas sobre los enemigos.

Utilicé este hechizo con los monstruos de la sala, y para evitar que Paul y Elinalise pudieran sufrir daño de él, lo centré sobre sobre un punto alejado de nosotros en el que se estaban concentrando las Tarántulas Deathlord.

"Oh, menuda sorpresa, se nota que eres discípulo de Roxy, ambos acabasteis usando el mismo hechizo..."

Puedo escuchar el murmullo de Talhand a mi espalda.

Saber que Roxy-shishou también utilizó este hechizo, la verdad es que me hace bastante feliz.

"Je... Y por si fuera poco, en silencio... Es fácil comprender porqué Roxy hablaba tan orgullosa de ti."

Dejando que mi ego se inflase a base de los comentarios sobre Roxy de Talhand, el grupo de arañas fue completamente aniquilado y continuamos nuestro camino.

Justo después de las habitaciones en las que se concentran las Tarántulas hay un final de trayecto coronado por un círculo mágico de teletransporte que una vez utilizado, nos lleva nuevamente a un pasillo largo que acaba nuevamente en otra sala llena de Tarántulas con otro círculo mágico.

Hemos repetido hasta en 5 ocasiones desde que entramos en el Laberinto este proceso, aunque no es que estuviéramos dando vueltas en círculos, que es lo que podría parecer a simple vista, sino que se trataba de círculos mágicos de doble sentido que permitían avanzar por este caótico sitio.

Por supuesto, el grupo de Paul ya se había organizado para detectar estos caminos a seguir, pero decidimos confirmar los círculos siguiendo las directrices del libro y confirmamos que todos los círculos de doble sentido tenían la misma forma, color y detalles que los círculos dibujados en el libro, dejándome completamente tranquilo sobre la credibilidad del mismo que el novato ya hbaía confirmado.

El trayecto de un círculo mágico a otro era de aproximadamente una hora, y teniendo en cuenta que habíamos repetido el proceso en 5 ocasiones, diría que llevaríamos unas 5 horas en el Laberinto.

Cuando llegamos al 5º y último círculo mágico, pude ver que el tono azulado que emanaba de él era más brillante y que el tamaño era ligeramente superior a los anteriores; se trataba del círculo mágico que nos llevaría a la siguiente planta.

Este círculo mágico se encontraba en una sala abarrotada de los ya repetitivos monstruos araña que tan poca dificultad estaban siendo para nosotros; y por si fuera poco, en lugar de un único círculo mágico de teletransporte en la sala, había 2 círculos idénticos coronando el final de la habitación.

Estos círculos se trataban de la prueba final de este nivel, al ser casi completamente iguales en todos los detalles, si no tuvieras un modelo a seguir o si no los hubieras marcado de antemano, acabarías en un lugar aleatorio de la primera planta, llevándote a la muerte segura al verte separado de tu equipo. Pero el grupo de Paul ya había dejado marcado cuál era el círculo correcto con un gran círculo delante del teletransporte a utilizar para ir a la 2ª planta.

Solo para quedarnos tranquilos, decidimos comprobar lo que comentaba el libro sobre esta pareja de círculos, y en efecto, indicaba cuál de los 2 era el correcto y qué observar para diferenciarlos.

Una vez terminamos, dimos un paso en el círculo que nos llevaría a la 2ª planta del Laberinto de la Teletransportación.

4ª Parte

Second floor.

In response Gisu pointed to a spot on the map.

"Right now, we're around here."

"Then, soon we'll be at the end of the second floor, right?"

"Yeah, but spiders and iron crawlers will still come out."

"For the composition of the monsters to change midway, it's a troublesome labyrinth isn't it?"

Elinalise suddenly flipped back her hair.

Even her proud hair rolls were effortlessly getting soft.

"By the way, Gisu, why do you call Rudeus Senpai?"

I guess it's only natural that advancing as you fumble about and using the map as you advance are different.

There's already no more small spiders on the floor.

Occasionally, there's some sticky threads on the wall, but the presence of living things is weak.

In exchange for that, I get a somewhat eerie feeling drifting about from deep darkness within the dark cave.

From here on out, it's the real thing.

First, we're going to find Roxy.

Thinking that, I feel like I can smell the nostalgic scent of Roxy drifting about.

No, it's not my imagination.

This is Roxy's scent, it's Roxy's presence.
