There's no need to be rude about it. Exaggeration is used frequently enough and I'm well aware of it. However, this isn't the type of situation that I would have expected it in (it's far more likely when a person is speaking or thinking than when the author is giving a description) and the fact that this is a translation means that it's quite possible for it to be a translation issue rather than exaggeration. But if the original text does indeed say 100, then it says 100. It just seemed off to me and I thought that it should be checked. | |||

"It lit the highway 100 miles ahead...." 100?! That sounds totally implausible. That would have to be a really high fireball - several miles up I would think. You certainly couldn't see anywhere near that far. I can believe 10 miles, but 100? This seems like it has to be a mistranslation.

There's no need to be rude about it. Exaggeration is used frequently enough and I'm well aware of it. However, this isn't the type of situation that I would have expected it in (it's far more likely when a person is speaking or thinking than when the author is giving a description) and the fact that this is a translation means that it's quite possible for it to be a translation issue rather than exaggeration. But if the original text does indeed say 100, then it says 100. It just seemed off to me and I thought that it should be checked.
