General information
Project Summary
Clannad is an all-ages visual novel adventure developed by Key/VisualArts, released in 2004. More information is available at the Wikipedia article.
This project is a second-generation resurrection of the translation project effort that started in 2005. The Clannad translation effort was originally started by Soulfang, then resurrected as an open collaboration by velocity7 in 2007, and finally re-resurrected for polishing by Polarem in 2011. If any groups are interested in using the script files for their own CLANNAD translation project, such as a foreign language, please contact the Project Administrator. Also, please be advised that, until this project is complete, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or cleanliness of the translation, and therefore advise that you hold off on such requests until that happens.
Supported Versions
Currently, the original version (2004) and the Full Voice version (2008) are supported.
We are looking into getting support for the Memorial Edition (2010) as well. If you have knowledge about RealLive and rlBabel-genmap, and wish to help, please contact Polarem at his talk page or at the project thread
There are currently no plans to support the console versions.
Technical Info
RLDev is the tool chain developed by Haeleth for editing RealLive data. The patch for RLDev that provides Full Voice support can be found here.
OCaml is the programming language used to write RLDev. Because it be a pain to setup, here are some directions for getting it up and running.
For those who are interested in the various versions of RealLive, RasqualTwilight has compiled a (slightly outdated) list of RealLive incarnations.
Where to Purchase CLANNAD
Although this is not an indication that the patch is in any way, shape, or form, near completion or readiness to release to the public, you may find this information useful.
JBox and PaletWeb are two (but not the only) online stores that ship overseas from Japan. You might have some luck on eBay too.
Contacts, Downloads
If you wish to contact us, please use the talk page or visit the project thread.
The latest preview files for use with your game can be found here.
The webpage for the previous translation effort, which includes development details, screenshots, and downloadable content, is available at The Waffle House.
Helping out
This is an open collaboration project. It has come this far thanks to the efforts, large and small, of a diverse group of people; we hope that the same principles will bring this project to completion. Anyone who wishes to contribute are encouraged to do so -- simply navigate to a script page and edit as desired!
At this point, we are in urgent need of translators proficient in Japanese. The To-do List above lists pages that contain many translation errors. We also need proofreaders to work on the English expressions of the translated pages.
Project Guidelines
Generally speaking, the guidelines associated with the Suzumiya Haruhi novel translation project can be followed, but there are several amendments that have been made in order to accommodate the unorthodox nature of this project. Please see the Clannad Guidelines for details.
If you wish to make a translation contribution and cannot abide by the Guidelines for any reason, post the text in <pre> tags, and mark the top of the page with {{Clannad:Cleanup}}. A Project Editor will handle the transfer into an acceptable format.
Pages will be marked at the top, either by:
- {{Clannad:Translating}}, to indicate translation is underway. Pages are categorized under Category:ClannadTranslating.
- {{Clannad:Cleanup}}, to indicate cleanup is necessary. Pages are categorized under Category:ClannadCleanup.
- {{Clannad:Recode}}, to indicate that the page needs or has undergone Kepago cleanup. Pages are categorized under Category:ClannadRecode.
- {{Clannad:Alternate}}, to indicate that an alternative translation is available.
