7 pages written. update on estimated length of 1st chapter - 12-16 pages. decided to write rough drafts at work by hand - in the office, in the subway and buses. 2 days of writing drafts, coming home and editting the hell out of them. Trying to follow my notes, i still include events that pop up in my head as i write. Fun is fun, but i still have to look up words in the dictionary and edit each sentence at least 1 time and constantly add new events and descriptions into previous pages, which i thought i was done with. Thinking about how to write the next sentence for 5 to 10 minutes is a regular occurance. avoiding unnecessary repetition of words proved to be more difficult than anticipated. --Idiffer 15:12, 21 October 2010 (UTC) 9 pages written. I had devided the 1st chapter into 4 parts, depending on the location of the main character. the 9th page started the 3rd part, the most difficult one for me to write. at least i thought so before starting it. but it turned out to be the same as the previous 2 parts. I try not to write without music and at least 2 bottles of beer by my side. it helps me write. Pity i cant smoke in my room...Still editing the previous pages. I have a feeling that if my novel gets published (not that i'm even going to try that), i'd still find tons of things to edit. --Idiffer 16:12, 23 October 2010 (UTC) 11 pages written. almost finished the 3rd part. after that comes the most enjoyable last part to write, with the exception of one dialogue the details of which I don't know myself. I'll make it up once I get to it, probably...again during pages 10-11 I came up with an event right on the spot and spent almost one page describing it. there were also parts which I basically forced myself to write and i'm still disappointed in them(if they were boring to write, they're gonna be boring to read). i discovered that describing how a character got from one place to another is my weakest point. "he exited the park. he walked along the street, then turned left. he crossed the road". I find it really hard to make such a scene less boring than it is in real life. and don't worry, that was just an example. I use much more complicated sentences in my novel. One sentence was 4 lines long. yeah, i was surprised too... and its not like there is only one such sequence throughout the chapter. the main character is always going somwhere new and I have to repeat the same words over and over - go, come, exit, enter, approach, walk, pass. thats the limit of my vocabulary on this topic, sadly... --Idiffer 18:36, 24 October 2010 (UTC) 16 pages written. Transitioning from the third part to the final 4th one, these pages weren't easy to write, but not exactly hard at the same time. Wanting to get to the final scene faster,b I found myself skipping some unimportant parts, like (again) characters getting from one place to another, completely. maybe its for the best. after all i'm no good at that, as i have stated earlier + it is a little boring in general.Once again i found myself spending alot more paragraphs than i anticipated on some things.conclusion - writing is unpredictable as fuck. Worth mentioning that i called in sick at work, despite not being so. Just didnt feel like working. i spent one morning in a nearby Mc'Donalds writing for an hour or so, consuming coffee.Let me tell you, don't write at Mc'Donalds!!! their music sucks, their chairs and tables suck and their coffee sucks too. and most importantly, it doesn't have beer. Although all that didn't stop me from writing 3 pages in my notebook...the final scene has an important dialogue. I'm very bad at dialogues. I mean, there were only 2 short dialogues so far. But then again, I dont remember many light novels having dialogues with more than 5 lines. the translators even use "" for each replica, while dialogue doesn't require that. Не, там я почистил. Просто воздержись от некоторых выражений, встречающихся не в переводе. Иногда бывает просто неприятно смотреть, чесслово. Соблазна нет - я не админ и не супервайзор. Я тут полный Noob, и оказался на этом сайте по чистой случайности(отсюда[[1]]). После небольшого ознакомления с его устройством и регистрацией я нашел несколько интересных для себя новелл. Было приятно узнать, что часть из них переводится и на русский. Будучи фаном Boku wa tomodachi ga sukunai в первую очередь посмотрел прогресс её перевода. Для меня(человека не имеющего опыта с чтением и переводом новелл) все это немного чуждо,но все-таки крайне интересно. Ну а теперь ближе к делу В связи с тем что 4 том переведен не полностью. охота попробовать внести свою лепту и помочь проекту. Для начала с главой " сравнивая ответы". Если подобный корявый перевод никому не помешает, и есть кто-либо готовый затратить n-ное количество времени на его правку, то буду рад приступить. Regarding your new project, the answer is yes.

You will have to create an English index page, however you only have to create a minimum layout, my suggestion is that you simply mirror the current Russian index page of LotSK, minus the links to the translated chapters. Then link the Russian alternative language index page to this English page.

Please email me the link to this English page, when you have done and i will approve this project ASAP. :)

Thanks for your friendly words for my work on Tsukumodo. I'm not actually new here - did very minor edits on Haruhi, a little bit on Toradora, and quite a lot of work on Gekkou, Utsuro no Hako, and Tabi ni Deyou. When I saw that EEE had a new project in the teaser section I was delighted - I generally like what he chooses to translate. Iris is going to take a lot of work, so I can work on that until you have integrated the edits on Silence. EEE looks like he is working on the new volume of Hako, so I don't expect to see him around Tsukumodo at all for a while.

Hey - just an update. Sorry I haven't gotten around to doing much w/Tsukumodo recently; I've mainly been editing V5 of Utsuro no Hako on EEE's private wiki (he's already finished translating it). What editing energy remains after that has been spent on small/trivial/consistency/etc edits to earlier Utsuro no Hako volumes. (I'd try to justify that by saying that once EEE posts v5, there'll be lots of new eyeballs on the rest of the series...but that's total bs. A suggestion. Rather than creating a temp/test page in the main namespace, it would be better if you moved it to User:Idiffer/Sandbox. There are many different namespaces used in MediaWiki based sites. User-space is the space given to users. When you write User:[YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE] and put a slash after that and write a page name, like the link I gave above, you create a subpage. Please use that for temporary text, testing and archival purposes. For example: User:Zero2001/Sandbox, I use this page to create/test templates before I finalize and put them in the Template-space. And User Talk:Zero2001/Archive 1, I use this for storing my outdated messages. Anyways it's complex to explain the fine details. Just use the link I gave in the above post, You'll see it is a part of your own user space with an automatically generated link to your user page. It's actually very easy and a lot like wiki coding. Go to your preferences (top right). Scroll down until you get to the Signature section (It's in the User Profile). Write/Copy the following into the textbox in that section: "[[User:Idiffer|Idiffer]] - [[User Talk:Idiffer|Talk]] - " (Note the spaces, they're important, copy everything inside the speechmarks). Make sure the "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)" checkbox is checked. You will see a preview of your signature (minus the timestamp) above the textbox. You can modify it as you want. It's just the same as writing and linking on the wiki. See, easy peasy. It certainly helps (and is less annoying) going directly to a user's talk page rather than going through the user page over and over. Zero2001 - Talk - 13:05, 4 August 2012 (CDT)
