Hyouka (氷菓) es una novela ligera escrita por Honobu Yonezawa y publicada en la Kadokawa Shoten. Actualmente, la serie tiene 5 volúmenes. Sinopsis de la Historia

Oreki Houtarou es un auto-proclamado "ahorrador de energía"(modo de batería de reserva) - lo cual quiere decir, que el no gastara energia haciendo cosas que no son necesarias. Aunque no tiene interés alguno en unirse a ningun club al ingresar en la Preparatoria Kamiyama, le fue ordenado por su hermana Tomoka entrar al Club de Clasicos del colegio, el cual estaba en peligro de ser abolido ya que todos los miembros anteriores se habían graduado. Junto a sus viejos amigos Fukube Satoshi e Ibara Mayaka, asi como la elegantemente educada y curiosamente inquisitiva Chitanda Eru, el nuevamente reformado Club de Clasicos se encuentra envuelto en todo tipo de aventuras de resolucion de misterios. Houtarou pronto descubre que el Club de Clasicos, como Tomoka ha prometido, es realmente "bastante interesante".
