Would we be allowed to put the reason Hidan no Aria is abandoned is due to licensing and publication of the 1st volume already in USA? *Pleasure to meet you. xD I'll see what I can do to help you out. Let me know if you need anything in particular. And about the language-redirect thing: If you go back to the thread, they've started to talk about the naming conventions in more detail. Also, it looks like the redirect-extension probably won't work... since the code version is too old. @___@; In either case, I'd be happy to help out with categorization. I think I know what you want, so I'll just follow along. xD [[User:Cloudii|Cloudii]] ([[User talk:Cloudii|talk]]) 19:53, 1 February 2014 (CST)

*I also wanted to ask: Is there a reason why you kept Teasers out of the Light Novels category? Aren't teasers a status? They're still Light Novels, right? [[User:Cloudii|Cloudii]] ([[User talk:Cloudii|talk]]) 01:02, 2 February 2014 (CST)

*Also, I glanced at the changes you intended to make to the Sidebar. Can I suggest that there somehow be expanding links to to the language light novel categories? If it goes to directly to <nowiki>[[Category:Light Novels]]</nowiki>, readers have to go through 3 clicks, whereas right now everyone is used to just making 1. Can I suggest something like this? It'll be easier to transition this way, I think. XD I think some readers might be in shock once they see their beloved sidebar gone. This might make it slightly easier for them.

*Can we split up the status categories so that they're "Stalled (English)" and not just "Stalled"? I know it's a minor thing... but the math doesn't work right with the magic words with the stats unless the alt languages are kept apart in the categories: [[Baka-Tsuki:About]] [[User:Cloudii|Cloudii]] ([[User talk:Cloudii|talk]]) 15:32, 3 February 2014 (CST)

*Also, can we change the categories link on the sidebar so that it goes to categories:root instead of listing all the categories? It's getting hard to see with all the names of the authors there. == No Game No Life ==
Zero no Tsukaima ( ゼロの使い魔, The Zero's Familiar ?) is a comedy anime produced by J.C. STAFF, based on a series of light novels written by Noboru Yamaguchi and illustrated by Eiji Usatsuka. Zero no Tsukaima is set in a fictional magical world at a magic academy. The story features several characters from the second year class with the main character being the inept mage Louise and her familiar from Earth, Saito Hiraga.

Summary:

  +
May I send you a private message?
Meet Louise, a budding magician. The students at the Tristein Academy call her "Zero Louise", due to her current record of zero successes with magic. In fact, her magic tends to go spectacularly wrong. Now, as an important test of her aptitude for magic, she must summon a familiar to be her servant. At this critical moment, she summons up all her magic and wishes for a familiar that is "devoted, beautiful and powerful", and gets... Hiraga Saito, an ordinary Japanese boy. It's difficult to say who is more surprised and dismayed, but the rules don't allow for second attempts. Louise is stuck with her strange familiar, and he with her.

Think of it as Harry Potter, but cooler, and much more funny, and th best thing is that later on in the novel, they have a full wolewide scale war, invasions fleets, lots of death, tragedy and kick arse killing. yay.

If I have not sparked interest and you do not wish to join in, i will be disappointed to hear that. However if your are just a little bit interested, please tell me as soon as possible.

The way this project will be done will be slightly different, sufficient to say the script will not released on the wiki as a "work in progress" but I suspect (these details are still in negoiation) be issued first to you lot to proof-read and then published on the wiki (which i'am quite determine to see happen. ), it will then be released as a pdf or .jpg format because those fansub/scanlation types just can't keep it simple.

However, I'am sure if you wish to work on the pdf, I wil make sure that you do.

I look forward to your reply, and I hope you will find this series interested enough to join in.

== Question about Wiki ==

Hello Darkoneko,

You have mentioned you were experienced with Wiki,

As you know we are undertaking a new project, but due to the collaboration effort of this venture, i wonder if it is possible to impliment read-restriction access on this wiki?

the version of this wiki is 1.7.1 and i have asked the big boss about adding a patch for hidden pages, but it was not efffective due to this version of the wiki,

I wish to know if you have any alternative method to create special pages that only certain users can read and edit?

any advice would be appriciate.

sincerely,

Hello darkoneko,

Thanks for your advice, I've passed it on to the Big Boss, I cross my fingers and hope it works for our wiki version.

If it doesn't work im back to square one. (T-T)

Honestly, Wiki's really are true communist, i mean don't they know history? communism doesn't work.... :p

Thry should at leased implimented the feature....oh well.

Once again thanks for your help.

What do you mean?

You have to install a patch?

last time The Big Boss tried to install a patch for this:

http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Hidden_pages

and the Wiki rejected it, I got a bad feeling about this now. (-_-;)

Thanks for getting my hopes up.

Hello Darkoneko,

I just got a reply from the Big Boss about your suggestion, we had a positive result but there were some flaws with it.

According to the Big Boss the pages using this method is not 100% secure, quoting the Big Boss...

'''<Edit:actually i shouldn't put those problems here. I almost did.(^^;) If you can provide me with a email address Darkoneko, i will like to tell you in detail about it.>'''

While personally I think that's secure enough, I was wondering if you have any idea how to plug these holes?

Hello Darkoneko,

Hello Darkoneko,

  +
I saw your posts on the user pages of inactive editors of Zero no Tsukaima. I take it you're the one responsible for changing people's user groups on this site?
If you are talking about the mail you sent me on the 13 August, replying about my concern on the search function, then yes I did.

  +
If so, can you add my name to the editor group? I'm currently planning to edit and retranslate majors parts of the ZnT novel.
As for the Navigation box, well...I can't really see the difference.

  +
I've already did some chapters, so you check out my edits if you like.
Except the new one is slightly bigger? (^^; )

not really sure if it's worth the effort, if the old one is working then, why change it?

The Big Boss has yet to reply to my mail, as you can see the search function is still there, and I don't think he will be replying anytime soon, which is a shame simce I need to test the RR function and to add selected user access.

Oh well, I guess I have to put up with it, when i don't have the right clearance.

Anyway, thanks for you help in this matter, hopefully things will be resolved one way or another.

Sincerely,

Hey Darkoneko,

  +
Then there are two choices to be made.
As you're the expert on all things MediaWiki, and maybe you've already looked at the [[Clannad]] project page... I'm just wondering if you can help to improve the table format as well as how the text is being displayed, and get the entire thing to look right across Firefox, IE6 and IE7. Thanks.

  +
* (1a) Mirror the text blockwise: <span style="display:inline-block; transform:scaleX(-1); text-align:right;">The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog</span>, or
  +
* (1b) Mirror it letter-by-letter by first writing it backwards (using unicode bidi) then mirroring it blockwise: <span style="display:inline-block; transform:scaleX(-1); unicode-bidi:bidi-override; direction: rtl;">The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.</span>

  +
And
--[[User:Velocity7|velocity7]]

  +
* (2a) Use inline style attributes and don't introduce a new classname,
  +
* (2b) Use the general classname '''.mirrored''', or
  +
* (2c) Use a specific classname like '''.mg18-mirrored''' (i.e. monogatari volume 18).

  +
Some observations:
  +
* My mobile browser supports bidi but not the mirroring transform, so (1a) does nothing and (1b) just renders it sdrawkcab (backwards).
  +
* The original Japanese is written in columns, so even after mirroring they're still in the correct order top-to-bottom. (1b) is somehow reminiscent of this (the letters still flow left-to-right), but I find it harder to read than (1a).
  +
* (2b) and (2c) are more flexible. If you write the style rule with the selector '''.mirrored:not(:hover)''', the mirroring effect will go away when the reader hovers over the text, making it easier to read.
  +
* I suspect (2b) and (2c) will be lost in a conversion to a different medium like epub. I assume (2a) would be more likely to survive conversion, but I'm not sure.
  +
* I've no particular preference between (2b) and (2c).

  +
Currently the chapter is written with (1b) and (2a), but I think I will change option 1 to (1a), just so it's easer to read. [[User:Double-X|Double-X]] ([[User talk:Double-X|talk]]) 20:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Hey Darkoneko,

  +
:I don't like 2c ; the class should be reusable elsewhere as needed.
  +
:Actually, if we want to be truly flexible we could use a template call (like <nowiki>{{mirrored|The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.}}</nowiki> ) so there'd be a single place ([[template:Mirrored]]) where to change stuff if we decide to switch the way it's done.

Hello !
it was better then his other idea of adding some sort of hidden spoiler extension to the wiki (which was a bit rubbish to be honest)

  +

== I'm new in Baka-Tsuki, and i need some help. ==
regards,

  +
explaining my situation, i got interested in a new anime of the season and went looking for a website to read the novel and ended up here.
Oni

  +
while i was reading i was thinking about the work that should be translating something and i was interested.
  +
Another reason for my interest in wanting to start trying to translate is that the novel I was reading in my language (I speak Brazilian Portuguese) was no longer available from a certain chapter, and I thought about continuing to translate myself.
  +
here comes my doubt, how do I create a page, or do a project? I saw the "Baka-Tsuki: New Project Startup Guidelines" website guide, but I still didn't understand it very well, so I'm asking for your help.
  +
I'm sorry if there is something wrong with the text, I can read and understand English very well, but I have no confidence in writing.

Oh and your "talk to me here, click on + to add a section" link is broken - .net instead of .org

Category Revamp Stuff[edit]

  • Pleasure to meet you. xD I'll see what I can do to help you out. I think I know what you want, so I'll just follow along. xD Cloudii (talk) 19:53, 1 February 2014 (CST)
  • I also wanted to ask: Is there a reason why you kept Teasers out of the Light Novels category? Aren't teasers a status? They're still Light Novels, right? Cloudii (talk) 01:02, 2 February 2014 (CST)
  • Also, I glanced at the changes you intended to make to the Sidebar. Can I suggest that there somehow be expanding links to to the language light novel categories? If it goes to directly to [[Category:Light Novels]], readers have to go through 3 clicks, whereas right now everyone is used to just making 1. Can I suggest something like this? It'll be easier to transition this way, I think. XD I think some readers might be in shock once they see their beloved sidebar gone. This might make it slightly easier for them.
*Light Novels
**Light Novels (English)
**Light Novels (French)
**Light Novels (Spanish)
**Etc.
*Teasers
**Teasers (English)
**Teasers (French)
*Other Media
**Visual Novels
**Original Light Novels
  • Can we split up the status categories so that they're "Stalled (English)" and not just "Stalled"? I know it's a minor thing... but the math doesn't work right with the magic words with the stats unless the alt languages are kept apart in the categories: Baka-Tsuki:About Cloudii (talk) 15:32, 3 February 2014 (CST)
  • Also, can we change the categories link on the sidebar so that it goes to categories:root instead of listing all the categories? It's getting hard to see with all the names of the authors there. If we do this though, we need to add the remaining not-classified categories to the root category. Cloudii (talk) 15:32, 3 February 2014 (CST)
  • Botherbother Category Intersection Proof of Concept. FYI: I just noticed that TLG already installed the requisite extension needed for category intersections. Cloudii (talk) 13:29, 4 February 2014 (CST)

;) Lery (talk)

User group[edit]

Hello Darkoneko,

I saw your posts on the user pages of inactive editors of Zero no Tsukaima. I take it you're the one responsible for changing people's user groups on this site?

If so, can you add my name to the editor group? I'm currently planning to edit and retranslate majors parts of the ZnT novel.

I've already did some chapters, so you check out my edits if you like.

Kind Regards

Kaze no Stigma help[edit]

Hello, I am Ayame the Kaze no Stigma translator and I saw you removed the inactive supervisor and project manager respectively due to inactivity so I have no one to ask but you. One of the Italian readers Kirishima Zen (talk) translated KnS volume 1 in Italian and doesn't know how to add a new language. I wonder if you could help her if it's not too much trouble but if you don't want to I'll try to fix it myself. Just tell me. Thanks. Ayame

Mirrored text in Zoku-Owarimonogatari[edit]

Can I please have your opinion about this forum thread? In short: I'd like to add two rules to Custom.css for mirrored text, which is used in Monogatari Series volume 18.

(Whoops, looks like the thread is invisible at the moment until a post edit of mine is approved by a mod.) Double-X (talk) 07:14, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

I see no problem with that, as long as the class name isn't a risk of conflict with something else. DarkoNeko talk 16:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Then there are two choices to be made.

  • (1a) Mirror the text blockwise: The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog, or
  • (1b) Mirror it letter-by-letter by first writing it backwards (using unicode bidi) then mirroring it blockwise: The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.

And

  • (2a) Use inline style attributes and don't introduce a new classname,
  • (2b) Use the general classname .mirrored, or
  • (2c) Use a specific classname like .mg18-mirrored (i.e. monogatari volume 18).

Some observations:

  • My mobile browser supports bidi but not the mirroring transform, so (1a) does nothing and (1b) just renders it sdrawkcab (backwards).
  • The original Japanese is written in columns, so even after mirroring they're still in the correct order top-to-bottom. (1b) is somehow reminiscent of this (the letters still flow left-to-right), but I find it harder to read than (1a).
  • (2b) and (2c) are more flexible. If you write the style rule with the selector .mirrored:not(:hover), the mirroring effect will go away when the reader hovers over the text, making it easier to read.
  • I suspect (2b) and (2c) will be lost in a conversion to a different medium like epub. I assume (2a) would be more likely to survive conversion, but I'm not sure.
  • I've no particular preference between (2b) and (2c).

Currently the chapter is written with (1b) and (2a), but I think I will change option 1 to (1a), just so it's easer to read. Double-X (talk) 20:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

I don't like 2c ; the class should be reusable elsewhere as needed.
Actually, if we want to be truly flexible we could use a template call (like {{mirrored|The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.}} ) so there'd be a single place (template:Mirrored) where to change stuff if we decide to switch the way it's done.

DarkoNeko talk 16:23, 28 September 2017 (CEST)

I'm new in Baka-Tsuki, and i need some help.[edit]

explaining my situation, i got interested in a new anime of the season and went looking for a website to read the novel and ended up here. while i was reading i was thinking about the work that should be translating something and i was interested. Another reason for my interest in wanting to start trying to translate is that the novel I was reading in my language (I speak Brazilian Portuguese) was no longer available from a certain chapter, and I thought about continuing to translate myself. here comes my doubt, how do I create a page, or do a project? I saw the "Baka-Tsuki: New Project Startup Guidelines" website guide, but I still didn't understand it very well, so I'm asking for your help. I'm sorry if there is something wrong with the text, I can read and understand English very well, but I have no confidence in writing.
