This page is a DRAFT.

Please use caution. There many be inaccurate or incomplete material.

These Project Startup Guidelines apply to all new Baka-Tsuki projects, including alternative language projects and alternative media projects.

Valid Baka-Tsuki projects include light novels originally published in Japanese/Korean/Chinese, visual novels, and original novels of any language.

Reminder: Any new translation project must be UNLICENSED by publishers in the corresponding Baka-Tsuki language. You must clearly show that this is true. Failure to do so will result in the deletion of the offending translations.

All Translation Projects (Light Novels and Visual Novels)

Step 1: Project Petitioning (OPTIONAL)

If you are a translator who has already completed translations for a new Baka-Tsuki project, you may skip this step.
  • All new requests must have a discussion thread opened in the Future Project Suggestions forum, with the name of the novel (series) in the title.
  • In the request thread, you must have a poll open, asking the public:

"Do you wish to see this Novel (series) Translated?"

Give the public these options:

  • "I might try translating this"
  • "Yes"
  • "Not Really (Please give a reason)"
  • "No (Please give a reason)"

Step 2: Creation of Project Overview Page

Warning: You may proceed to this step ONLY after you (or a translator you know) has completed some translations for the proposed series.

  • Fill out all the required information related to the series.
  • Create a Registration Page for the new project.
  • Upload the translation(s) you (or your friend) have completed.
  • Make sure you have tagged your Project Overview Page with [[Category:Teaser (English)]] (or the equivalent).

WIP. Applying the rule changes agreed upon at the Baka-Tsuki general meeting.

  • You must contact a Wiki Supervisor by Email and P.M (optional) with a link to the Forum post of the requested Series.
  • When you do receive confirmation, you must POST the name of the Supervisor who approved you, to ensure all Baka-Tsuki Staff Members are aware of it. Supervisors should:
    1. Send a copy of your Email approval with the original request to the Big Boss (thelastguardian) to inform him of the new project.
  • After that, proceed with the following actions:
    1. A new Project Page should be created. Refer to Project Page Format Guidelines. Link it in the discussion thread.
    2. Add the Template, Warning ATP to the top of the Project Page.
Note that there's a time limit as per Warning ATP.

Approval to Full Project

Requirements

  • At least one or more chapters of a volume must be fully translated.(This is something pending to be changed.)
  • You MUST have a willing Translator who must register on this forum, and verify in a written post that they will take up the project. That verified Baka-Tsuki translator will only have to post a confirmation that they are willing to take up the series.
  • A Project Supervisor must be named. By default, if there is only one Project Translator, he/she is assumed to be the Project Supervisor.

Protocol

  • After you have fulfilled the above points, you must contact a Wiki Supervisor by Email and P.M (optional) with a link to the Project Page of the requested Series.
  • Supervisors should:
    1. Send an email to the Big Boss (thelastguardian) to inform him of the new full project.
    2. Contact a member of the Custodial Staff (ie: Onizuka-gto), and they will protect the page as well as remove the ATP tag.

Teaser Projects

A process parallel to the general process above. Teaser projects are aimed providing excerpts to garner interest.

  • Things required:
    1. A simple project page. (eg. Just the synopsis and the link to the excerpt is sufficient.)
    2. An translated portion of the novel.
