Baka-Tsuki:Contributor Agreement

By contributing fan translations, edits, or services to Baka-Tsuki or any of its associated subdivisions, you agree to follow these rules.
If you fail to comply to these rules, you may be banned or suspended without warning from Baka-Tsuki and/or any of its associated community spaces. Wiki Supervisors and Community Supervisors reserve the right to judge and penalize violations of rules however they see fit.
Please note if a situation arises where moderators feel the spirit of the rules are being broken or abused, moderators may take punitive action on the offender(s).
General Rules
- All the General Behavior Rules stated in the Reader Agreement still apply.
- Please review the Reader Agreement for further details.
- Under no circumstances would you submit works that are licensed in the country the server (USA) and/or the submitter is located in.
- If you aren't sure about the licensing status of your Project, check with a Wiki Supervisor.
- Under no circumstances would you submit translated works (or links to translated works) copied directly from an unauthorized source.
- Do not submit any translation that is not your own work, UNLESS:
- You have written permission from the original translator. In this situation, you should refer to these guidelines: Submitting External Works with Permission.
- Respect the decisions and choices of the Project Supervisor for your project. Adhere to their guidelines and judgements.
- The Project Supervisor has final word in all disputes related to the translation of a Project.
- Ettiquette
- It is strongly recommended that you register an account on the Wiki.
- It is considered good courtesy to contact the Project Supervisor and other active members of a project prior to making major contributions.

Registration Page
Each project contains a Registration Page that lists all known chapters, and marks which translators have claimed portions for their work.
- You are required to register which chapters you wish to work on.
- Registration is on a "First Come, First Serve" basis.
- Maximum number of translators per volume is two, unless the volume is a collection of smaller stories.
- Translators may not register for more than one entire volume of chapters simultaneously within each project.
The Registration page is not a binding contract, and translators are encouraged to negotiate between themselves which portions to register for.
- If an apparently inactive translator occupies a registration slot that you want, contact them and the Project Supervisor. If he/she does not respond in two weeks and the Project Supervisor does not protest, assume the reservation is expired.
- Note that the Project Supervisors have the authority to override these rules (e.g. the 2 translators per volume rule) in special cases for their projects.
Protocol When Translation of a Complete Chapter is Completed

Protocol For Incomplete Translations
- It is highly recommended that you add an incomplete template if you upload an incomplete translation. Here is the recommended template: Template:Incomplete

Editor Guidelines
Review relevant information prior to joining a project and making edits:
- Many Projects have a Project Specific Guidelines Page containing names and terminology. Adhere to the appropriate conventions.
- Familiarize yourself with Baka-Tsuki's general Format Guideline.
Rules for Editors:
- Specific terminologies and nouns are not to be changed without translator consultation.
- Sfx are to be up to translator's discretion. Do not bother asking questions about it.
- Do not change the meaning of the sentences unless you are a valid proofreader. Ambiguous text should be addressed to the translator.
- Do not add yourself to the list of editors under a project page unless the supervisor/admin approves you.
- A summary of the edits should be included in the summary section while editing a page.
- In the case of an editorial conflict, all editors are expected to defer to the opinion of the translator.
Editor Protocol
- Minor Edits (typo/minor grammar corrections)
- No need to contact translator
- Stylistic Edits (sentence-structure and sentence-fluidity changes when you are absolutely SURE the meaning has not changed)
- It is good etiquette to contact the translator before making extensive edits.
- If they like the work you do, it is not necessary to continue contacting the translator. If they don't like it, don't be offended -- it's nothing personal.
- Major Edits (whenever the meaning of your corrected sentence has deviated slightly from the original translator's sentence)
- You MUST contact the translator each time you do this so they can re-check your sentence.
- Recommended channels of communication:
- The translator's user-talk page
- The talk-page of the chapter the edit was made
- Whenever in doubt, just ask. Please. A few minutes (or days) worth of asking is better than having bad blood with each other for years...
Activity
A Baka-Tsuki contributor is formally considered considered inactive when:
- They have failed to make ONE contribution to the wiki in the period of the past 3 MONTHS.
- Or if they have announced on their User-Talk Page that they are on hiatus or retired from a specific project.
In the Project Staff section of every project page, please categorize users appropriately according to this definition.
TIP: Type in the username of interest on this page to find out if they have been active in the past 3 months.
