To make a general statement that has nothing to do with Mizuho or any other specific translator: unfortunately, there is no way of stopping people (readers, editors, and translators alike) from criticizing other translators, even if that criticism is not put in the nicest way (and more often than not it won't be). But for any translator to fall back on the convenient excuse of "it's just bullying so I don't have to listen" is the absolute worst way to deal with situations like this. ALL translators should own up to their mistakes and try their best to improve, and that includes learning to take criticism gracefully and seriously, even if such criticism is aggressively made.

Say...since it is an unregistered user, can this epilogue be really posted as I see nothing that proves that this is done by Mizuho? --Chancs

Just from looking at the first few lines: "A number of repaired spirit crystals were scattered about next to him." 治癒 got translated as 'repaired'. Only Mizuho could commit a translation error of this level, it's obviously him. Florza (talk) 09:12, 8 March 2013 (CST)

Oye oye, atleast don't make mistakes as his/her tradrmark. :D --Chancs (talk) 09:50, 8 March 2013 (CST)

How about "unwillingness to improve", then? Or maybe "stoic"? Stoic sounds nice, right?--Kadi (talk) 10:12, 8 March 2013 (CST)

I do not think this belongs to Mizuho since it not not updated on his/her Blog. --Navazishmh (talk) 10:59, 8 March 2013 (CST)

Florza. I hate to say this but your Japanese level is also very poor, so you shouldn't talk ill about others work. I have put down the mistranslation you have made on your translation for "Gekka no Utahime to Magi no Ou" on your user talk page. --TRUTH (talk) 06:10, 9 March 2013 (CST)

Hi TRUTH,

Thanks for your corrections. I looked them over and discussed them with florza, and they appear to be mostly valid. I will work with florza and make sure things are corrected on the Gekkahime page.

But please realize that, contrary to what you are claiming, the number of errors in translation is only weakly correlated with the actual ability of the translator; I still find occasional translation mistakes in my own work when I perform routine spot checks of my old translations. Rather, it all comes down to attitude and a drive to produce excellent work. And from what I've seen of florza's work over the past months, he has both. What is much more distressing is when translators fall into a habit of complacent negligence (which sadly happens quite often), but florza is far from that and places great emphasis on the quality of his translations, and is humble enough to admit fault when he is wrong. And that makes him a great translator.

So while I really do appreciate your corrections, you couldn't be drawing a more incorrect conclusion from them.

Then why do I see lots of fingers being pointed to Mizuho? Cant you settle it in a proper way? I only see this is bullying. We really dont need any of that here.

To make a general statement that has nothing to do with Mizuho or any other specific translator: unfortunately, there is no way of stopping people (readers, editors, and translators alike) from criticizing other translators, even if that criticism is not put in the nicest way (and more often than not it won't be). But for any translator to fall back on the convenient excuse of "it's just bullying so I don't have to listen," as you seem to be suggesting, is the absolute worst way to deal with situations like this. ALL translators should own up to their mistakes and try their best to improve, and that includes learning to take criticism gracefully and seriously, even if such criticism is aggressively made.
