You got the title wrong... It's Hitsugi no Chaika. Florza (talk) 21:26, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

Actually, the first kanji is 'hitsugi'(coffin) and the second is 'hime'(princess), so 'Hitsugi Hime no Chaika', or 'Chaika of the Coffin Princess' or 'The Coffin Princess' Chaika' would be direct readings... but it wouldn't surprise me if they turned 'hitsugi'+'hime' to 'hitsugime' as a punny contraction. Grimjakk (talk) 23:29, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

It's written right on the cover page that the reading is Hitsugi. Or you could refer to the JA wiki. Florza (talk) 23:59, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

That's just the furigana for the first kanji - the second kanji is recognizable enough that it doesn't need furigana. The wiki is wrong on that line. The title actually DOES read 'Coffin Princess Chaika'. Whether it's 'hitsugime' or 'histugi hime' is another question. =). But why would someone put up a page if they weren't actively translating it? It's too bad, this is one I'ld like to read. Grimjakk (talk) 09:59, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

er, no, it is hitsugi no chaika. The wiki says as much, provided you even clicked on the link florza gave you. Here, let me quote: 『棺姫のチャイカ』(ひつぎのチャイカ)は著者・榊一郎、イラスト・なまにくATKによるライトノベル。レーベルは富士見ファンタジア文庫(富士見書房発行、角川グループパブリッシング販売)。既刊3巻。

Although having said that, the official site uses hitsugime in it's title. Huh.--Hayashi s (talk) 10:39, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

I don't want to get into an argument here... the kanji 棺姫のチャイカ reads "ひつぎ ひめ の チャイカ". I read the wiki link. The hiragana translation of the title is incorrect. The furigana "ひつぎ" is used next to "棺" because the usual reading for that kanji in a compound is "かん", not "ひつぎ". Whoever put up that wiki goofed. /shrugs And yeah. I'm guessing "histugime" is just a coined word the author uses for "coffin princess". =) Grimjakk (talk) 11:06, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

Well, what about the spine of the book? Is that wrong as well? Image Here Do we trust a website url spelling more than the publication itself? --Zzhk (talk) 22:23, 1 May 2013 (CDT)

since the book itself shows that its hitsugi, cant argue with that....or it could be as grimjack said, that the author punned the name...kanji has many readings as we all know...but i seriously cant read 棺姫 as anything other than hitsugi hime...and power-rangeredly combined into hitsugime lolz -- Ways(talk) 18:56, 2 May 2013 (IST)

Translators?[edit]

Are there any translators backing this? If not, this shall be deleted. --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 06:27, 2 November 2012 (CDT)

Another translation[edit]

http://coffinprincesschaika.wordpress.com/ Maybe this should be added to the project's page?

That's nice progress by that translator. Someone should get permission from the translator before adding links to his/her translation (or adding the text) on the BT project page. I guess that would mean asking in the comments of one of the chapters on the blog. --Cthaeh (talk) 19:01, 14 April 2014 (CDT)
