58			毎年、学園祭の三ヶ月前に集まる有志によって、\n脈々と受け継がれるこの適当な呼称を持つ当会は、\n今年は我がそこそこの友、飯塚武也によって旗揚げされた。	Every year, someone would be nominated to be club president in order to gather volunteers three months before the school festival. This year, it happens to be none other than Iizuka Takeya.

117			近隣どころか県外からも多くの人が押し寄せる\n峰城大祭に比べ、そりゃ悲しいほどの規模の差を誇る\nまさに“付属した祭”なのは仕方のないところ。	Considering the number of people from other prefectures that came to the university festival, the scale compared to our numbers was so drastic it was saddening. It couldn't be helped that we were an "attached festival".	Could also be "school festival" since the naming is "School of Houjou University" as opposed to "School Attached to Houjou University"
118			それでも大量に押しかける峰城大祭側の客を\n騙したりすかしたり休憩所と偽ったりで誘致して、\n毎年、そこそこの賑わいを見せている。	Even so, we'd get a lot of spillover from the university guests through whatever means necessary, luring them in and having them think we were a rest stop. Turnout every year was pretty good.
119			中でも向こうの看板イベントにあざといまでに便乗し、\nある意味本家以上に“内輪で”盛り上がるのが、\nこの『ミス峰城大付属』。	Among other things, there'd also be some cunningly placed signboards within the university, and in a sense, the "Miss Houjou School" event that was "with just us" was quite popular.
120			本家の『ミス峰城大』は、\n峰城大祭最終日のステージを独占して行われ、\nマスコミまで注目する一大イベントと化している。	The original "Miss Houjou University" event would steal the stage on the last day of the university festival, and transform itself into an event that even invited the press.
121			けれど、大学ほど自治権を認められていないしがない付属。\n色々と世間の批判とかも考慮した職員側の判断もあり、\nミスコンの正式開催が理事会で通ることはなかった。	But, being "attached", we weren't allowed anywhere near the autonomy that the university had. We had to consider all sorts of public criticism, decisions made by the staff, and the directors never approved a formal opening for our beauty contest.
122			となると逆に、ちょっと背伸びしたくなるお年頃の付属生。\n体制に従うふりをして、地下に潜った。	On the other hand, the students here had reached that rebellious age. Pretending to go along, they moved their efforts underground.
123			しかし、地下で燻っているような先輩諸兄では…\n彼らは、付属祭実行委員会を二段構えで組織して、\nめでたく『ミス峰城大付属』は裏開催される運びとなった。	However, for these seniors that smouldered underground... they'd also be organizing the school festival executive committee, and thus, opened up "Miss Houjou School" behind the scenes.
124			それが１０年くらい前の話。	That was ten years ago.
125			そんな反社会的な伝統に限って、\n絶えることなく脈々と受け継がれるのはこの世の常で。	And it was business as usual for that antisocial tradition of theirs to be relentlessly brought down again and again.
126			ステージイベントもない、水着審査もない。	There weren't even stage events or swimsuit contests.
127			ただ、当日配布される写真入りパンフレットをもとに、\n普通に学園祭を楽しんでいる参加者を探し、\n気に入った女の子に投票するだけの裏コンテスト。	Just on a particular day, pamphlets with illustrations were handed out as they searched amongst the participants normally having fun in the school festival. It was a secret contest just to vote on popular girls.
128			そんな華々しくない、学生側の自主規制と\n学園側の黙認によって成り立っているイベントは、\nすでに付属祭の裏目玉として定着した趣がある。	It wasn't anything spectacular, as the students' own regulations and the campus' tacit consent already gave a clue that this was a failure in the making.
129			なお、俺がここに入学して以来、\nそのトップの座は一度も揺らいだことがない。	On top of that, the one in the big chair hadn't swayed even once since I had enrolled.
